if you look to it its a regular GX-02 but with the R accessories the swords and the Scramble dash idk if you remember us talking about it while ago, but the GX-02R is a different than the one you have right now. The deference is like between the GX-01 and the GX-01R. Heavier, bigger and taller. But if You're happy with the GX-02 there's no need to buy it. I'll try and find this guy right here because I missed my chance before.

The GX-02R has more diecast in it. I would buy the GX-02 right now if they share the same weight.. GX-02 left- GX02R right This image from one of the members here. notice the GX-02 from the left and GX-02R to the right, he's taller. I'm not trying to change your mind. I'm just saying the GX-02R is better than the GX-02 at least for me.

From what i gather, Rs have metal thighs.
Most parts ARE indeed same molds but Part of the reason for Great Mazinger R was to fix the scale issue with GX01, so some parts are probably bigger on R then GX02?... so gx02R is probably indeed bit taller then gx02?
This release does give me hope that soon Bandai might give us Great Mazinger D to complement the newly announced Mazinger D!

nah its cool bro maybe you saw something i didnt see its a taller but not a very huge different between the two i didnt get the GX-02R because of the chrome and the scramble dash was a one piece no button to push lol i understand your point, i think the R have a better detailed accessories than the regular version, the change in the R in my opinion doesn't justify the price, best advice for you bro is to wait for this new version its not like the GX-01 and the GX-01R where alot of changes been made thanks for the info, this is an interesting subject maybe someone who have both could share with us please ? knowing Bandai i guess they will do a DC (Dynamic Classic) versions for most of Gonagai work Great Mazinger, Grendaizer, Jeeg, Getters etc but not in a row it will be more like the DX line

Yeah, DC, thats what i meant. Thank you.
I can only imagine Getters and Grendizer in DC. Yum!! With battle damage please.
Bandai, If you want to seriously compete with Hot Toys, battle damaged parts are a MUST! Sell it as a seperate pack if you want to, but it really should be made.

I think the V on the 02 is more prone to breakage than the 02R.

Just like the thighs on the 02 are more prone to breakage than the 02R's ones. They really are two similar, but slightly different, chogokins.
If you've never owned one (like me) I think this is the perfect chance.

I own both, 02R is a hair taller but heavier due to more metal, the plastic may be better quality, but I'm not sure. The accessories are interchangeable between the both so each Scramble Dash and Great Booster can be used on both.
If there is a new DC Great I hope the size difference is much more significant compared to GX-70 than it used to be.

i disagree with every one who said the GX-02 is breakable or not as durable, the figure fall from my hands couple of times and from the shelf hitting the edge to the floor and it didnt break at all i have the figure for almost 7 years now still holding together with no problems

Well. I've seen one GX-02, and it had a cracked thigh. From the waist joint almost down to the knee.
So, you know, if you own one. Or if you plan to buy one. Just be careful.

I have GX-01R GX-02R. It's solid die-cast, it came from a time where metal was more affordable for company. If it's cracked, then it hit the floor. But also the model is very basic.
