I'm a die-hard fan of Transformers in Japan. It gives the name Burning Justice to it. Lately, it seems that Japanese influence is weakening. Its been like that since the live action movies. All Takara is doing is waiting behind North America rather than do something on its own. There were such great series such as Car Robots and Galaxy Force. I'm asking do you like the current movement that Takara is taking? I certainly hope it does something to make Transformers great again.

I do like some of their Masterpiece line.
But They lost me when the direction of dismissing diecast parts on MP line took effect.... Tho There are some giving credence to the excuse of forsaking it for the sake of toy engineering, i never bought that theory.

I feel it lost its spark after Galaxy Force.

To clear up, you are talking about the cartoons right? In regards to that, I am on the opposite end in that I totally dislike them Japanese cartoon shows like Superlink and Galaxy Force. I think the last one TakaraTomy made was Transformers Go. That was released after TF Prime. It was a short 4-6 episode kind of thing and I just hated every thing about it. For some reason, these Japanese version TF just don't feel like Transformers to me. BeastWars, TF Prime, and even TF Animated, I like better over Galaxy Force.
TF Animated gets a lot of unfair dislike due to the animations style they used. I've always described it as PowerPuff girl or TeenTitans Go style TF. But the story from animated is good. It was good enough that Micheal Bay re-used it in the TF4 movie. I like how things are explained in Animated. Now this isn't the true origins of the seekers but I like this rendition from TF Animated. The reason that Starscream is the leader of the Seeker Squad is caused he cloned himself. And each version is a part of him. Thundercracker is his cracked/joker side. Skywarp is his coward side. Slipsteam happens to be his feminine side. Ramjet is the part of him that always lies. And the reason Why he has a conehead, Swindle sold him the helmet to tell him apart from the others. I like how they used Prime and Magnus as a rank. Optimus is a Prime. And Magnus is a officer rank above a Prime. Cleaver little origins story like that this and explainations is why I like Animated so much.
Japanese versions incorporated or try to make it like Japanese Super Robot Animes. The character development and story just don't fit. Currently, on Go90.com, there are 6 episodes of TF Combiner wars, really short 6 minutes episode each that's a pretty good watch. I feel It's as close to G1 continuity as we can get.

Have not followed the Japanese shows, so can't really comment on the latest. But for me, it has always been the nostalgia that gets me in collecting TFs. The show is very secondary for me, as they don't really hold up as great watchable stuff for the most part for my personal taste. I like some parts of the G1, the G1 Movie in general, and some bits and pieces from various shows (I do enjoy some of TF Animated, regardless the drawing style). But as a whole, they don't hold up all that well and very catered to little kids, but not so much for adults like me. I find more of those adult themes in better anime robot shows, which is part of the reason why I don't follow TF anime or TV series no more.

Also, you feel something has lost its touch. Still, its regrettable that you're not a fan anymore. I'm just trying to endure hoping Takara will redeem itself.

Tho There are some giving credence to the excuse of forsaking it for the sake of toy engineering, i never bought that theory. Yeah now that I'm starting to collect mp's I'm really disappointed with the lack of diecast considering the prices of these figures. Even my src's feel more weighty than my car bots. I also don't believe the bs reason for engineering on not havng metal parts as I've been studying these figures too hoping to design my own version. For one they could still use metal parts in the joints to make the smaller ones more durable and still give the figure a good feel in the weight department. This reason made me buy some knock offs of some mp's that I feel are overpriced for their small size and lack of diecast parts. If you compare the price of mp star saber which is a big figure and has some die cast to some of the small plastic autobots, I see there is a discrepancy on how they price their figures as star saber is only a bit more expensive.

Still collect the MP line, and even a few 3rd Party stuff. But if TF anime have some major breakthrough in terms of theme and storytelling, I am sure it will pull me back in. I am still very surprised there is no G1 revamp TV series with G1 style aesthetics, but with much higher quality of animation and stories. Instead, there are constant generations of new series one after another, US or Japan. I suppose that probably push toy sales more, so there is always new stuff to buy.

In terms of modern day cartoons, This is as close to a G1 Continuity as you can get. The IdW comics are pretty good in continuing the G1 Story.

The Combiner Wars cartoon actually is pretty cool! Didn't know about this show before. A bit lost on the overall premise of the story just based on the 2 episodes, but looks pretty good. Would have been better if it is more mainstreamly broadcasted in regular 30 mins episodes format. But it might cost more and quality may dip lower. Thanks for the heads up. Might look this up and watch more.

There are 8 episode so far on. It's all available at go90.com. Each episode is only around 6 and a half minutes long. I can understand that you are a bit lost. In fact, a lot of Transformers fans that watched this without reading the IDW comics would not know the back story. I suggest reading all volumes of Robots in Disguise to get caught up. Or at the very least read the Dark Cybertron Saga. This story takes places after the Great War on cybertron. Autobots, Decepticons are no longer enermies. Thus, Starscream is the leader and on the high Counsil. Scrapper, leader of the Constructicon has died and has been replaced by Autobot Prowl. It's a lot of back story to catch up on to get to this point of Combiner Wars.
Scratch that last part about Scrapper. That's just IDW other story line. You only need to read Windblade.

This is where we fans need to to somehow push Takara into doing something. If only there are others that think the same as us.

Aren't you all worried that Takara isn't doing anything "new" as of now?

I mean Takara is just staying behind Hasbro and not doing its own thing.
