so you are telling me that, the Transformers KOs are not counterfeit while the KOB is ? lol come faelon at least the KOB have its own design they didn't copy any one i guess we are not in the same page because we are talking about how the copyrights works in our countries, so this wont go anywhere, lets just leave it here (unless if you want us to chat about it else where) WEP might be ruining by nice people i honestly dont know and i never met them, but as company they have an awful business strategy and they missed alot of opportunities bottom line and at the end of this story the figure is out, people are buying it, and they are loving it regardless how WEP feel about it now we are waiting for the regular color version hope it wont take years like this one

I'm with S_Gokin. Took WEP 30 years to license to SOC. Before that they licensed crap. Most just care about getting the best Voltrons they can, before there is none to be found in the next 30 years.

This Voltron is licensed by WEP and believe it or not Dreamworks HK. It was a limited event license. Icarus sent pics of the event sent me an explanation. This is not an illegal or unlicensed voltron. You can all purchase in confidence.

3P transformers exploit loopholes is the difference. The KOB is pretending to be something it isn't. Again, this isn't about how the Gokin is, it's letting people know the risk because of that false trademark on the box. They also informed me the BANDAI SOC LICENSE Has expired. Except you've ignored that multiple people contacted a WEP representative themselves instead of Icarus and have confirmed that it wasn't licensed?

I find this discussion akin to the debate over illegally downloading music and movies. I know a lot of people that do it and feel they have a right to this content and shouldn't have to pay for it. Personally I disagree. If you created something, and some outside entity copied it, sold it without your consent, AND made a bunch of money off it, you probably wouldn't be too pleased. Same goes here as far as I'm concerned. That being said, if we get confirmation from WEP that this is under their license, I will buy it in a heartbeat. It looks great!

Also WEP doesn't know whether to shlt or go blind so they close one eye and fart. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they don't know what's going on w the Dark Lion Set. I have pics from the limited event they had in Hk w Dreamworks. The Dark Voltron is a limited license that's why they only made 1,000.

Downloading music without paying for it is stealing. Paying for a product that may or may not be licensed is in no way stealing. WEP would have no case going after an individual who purchased Icarus toys voltron. Nor would they have a case if you sold it privately. The dispute with licensing is between the manufacturers and the IP holder. If if it’s not licensed Icarus Toys is in the wrong for claiming it is. WEP would have a hard time proving license infringement if Icarus sold the toy under another name. There are many toys sold in stores that are very similar to each other. Copyright law in USA is strict. Not so much in other countries. P.S. My Dark voltron from Toysrepublic was held at customs for a week. It eventually went through and does not look like customs opened it.

I'm not insinuating anyone is stealing by purchasing this. I'm just making a broad analogy of my personal feeling on the discussion here. Again, I think it's a great figure. I want to grab one, but I do want to be assured the people that own the legal property of Voltron are being compensated. That's all really. I'm assuming this will be cleared up by the time the regular color releases.

Which multiple people have confirmed it wasn't licensed? I thought it was only Faelon who got any response from a WEP rep, and that was months ago. Any new clear answer from WEP recently?

Some people are just worried that they won't be able to re-sell this Dark Voltron coz the licensing issue is nebulous. People who have no plans of re-selling it just give zero f**ks about the licensing issue. Are there any other reason(s) for the constipation about the licensing-issue? Looks like a quality gokin from the reviews. Definitely better than any of the ET stuff.

I emailed Tiffany from WEP earlier today and asked if this was a licensed product. She quickly replied:
It is not...horrible that they can get away with this. Recommend not buying!
Do what you want with this information but I for one will not be doing business with people that steal and plaster a fake copyright all over a product with the intention to device buyers. Pretty sleazy if you ask me.

So you're saying that Icarus is lying? Please go to the Hall of Chogokin Facebook page. I posted the full interaction w Icarus and see if you still feel the same way. Either way I guess that's about as far as this discussion can go.j

I watched all episodes of Voltron legendary defender. I have 2 Of each combining lions 16” and 2 Of each metal defenders. Have the SOC as well. I will continue to support WEP and buy the licensed products. Currently looking for the pilots. But I also love the Icarus toys voltron and will buy it. It’s a unique design that harkens back to the 80’s voltron I had as a kid. I love my SOC but it’s more of a display piece. The Icarus Toys is more fun to play with. I especially like the firing fists. 😀

Either way I guess that's about as far as this discussion can go.j Yeah everything points to them lying with BBTS pulling it down, and members here contacting WEP. Icarus dug it's own grave for claiming it was licensed for too long.
