ET is giving fans something we've wanted for a long time. Give them credit. If they can pull this off with quality all the better.
We should support companies that does what collectors want that nobody else dares to do.
This is a bold and risky release for ET. If they are willing to go the lengths, would you go to lengths to support?
CM's did his before but bite the dust since everyone waited till the clearance bin. We lost them. Same thing with Yamato.

Eh...I do not believe giving credit to Evolution Toys is the issue here. Completely agree that they have some cajones to producing something that is a fantastic shoutout to the grail Godaikin Tetsujin. HOWEVER, us consumers in this nutbar hobby (gokin toys) already are dumping often, thousands, a year into glorified action figures and well, in this case, we have over 300 reasons that the toy HAS to be good quality and meet the benchmark met by Bandai et al. While I hear you and would absolutely SUPPORT ET, it is 100% contingent that this toy is worth the pricetag...I'm not in the charity business when it comes to collecting toys. Neither should you. If this were the case, I'm sending the $$$ to Puerto Rico et al. After all, it would supremely suck to hear that you bought a $300+ dud, right?

ET are doing rare characters alright, but they are not doing them good (awful quality - poor engineering) and they ask the premium price for them
in this day and age its nonsense, at least for me
for example most of you guys know that im dying for a Zanda Cross figure, lets say ET decided to do it, about %80 it will be a pass for me because i know it wont be done right
its an awful feeling to pay alot to get less

ET had mixed releases. I think if you expect a gokin toy then you sure would be dissapointed. Their magnets toys are on a different level, it would never be a soc release. But I have arbegas (second release), and used to have getter robo and getter Dragon, the getter releases are well sculpted and are highly posable once you know how to handle the magnet joints. Arbegas I can't be objective about it (I like it). On the other hand they are doing mostly unknown robots they need to sell expensive in order to be profitable. I've always wanted their classic jeeg. I think in the end is a matter of taste and not quality.

ET makes obscure robots and production runs are probably a small percentage of SOCs and Sentinel products. Because of that they are supposed to be less bang for the buck just because of economy of scale.
This will never be DX SOC quality or even SOC quality. What it will be is a nice sculpt of Tetsujin 28 with plenty of diecast, gimmicks, and nostalgia. I would also expect decent paint as I've seen on their other products. Overall I expect this piece to have plenty of shelf presence and to be visually impactful.
I wouldn't expect more than basic articulation. I wouldn't expect highly engineered joints. I wouldn't expect crazy detail.
I am hopeful that everything will be nice and tight, and that things that are supposed to stay on, stay on. This is more so on the quality side.
Whether it is worth the entrance fee, is highly subjective.

All I know about Evolution Toys is the Macross VF-2SS they released last year and that was far and away the poorest and least refined transforming toy I have handled in over a decade. But I AM supporting them and giving them another chance because I have their upcoming Legioss preordered. I'm not expecting SOC or Yamato/Arcadia refinement with it, but I do hope at the very least that it holds together well in all modes and isn't fragile.

face sculpt is not good, and the proportion over all is not there in my opinion
still i think people will go for it

I’m getting this for sure already ordered months ago. I can’t wait for Bandai for their DX version knowing they only do one every 2 years. I want to retire or take a break from mecha collecting and this is missing piece besides couple of others. I have other hobbies I have to go back to that I put on hold. 😀

Thanks for the link Chen. I am debating between this and the Action Toys one. This one looks pretty good. The internal details look a lot better than previously shown. I love the fact that the hover craft and the robot can be stored inside the leg, and love the accessories. I don't like how the chest look in the low shots, but from a high angle the chest looks much better. THe face sculpt is fine to my eyes.
Not sure if I'll be able to hold off and wait for the Action toy now! My major concern, is the fact that this is made by Evolution Toys. I think they are pretty new to the diecast market, and the plastics they use have been known to be of lesser quality. But then pre-orders have been sold out on HLJ for awhile.

My 2 cents is to wait for the inevitable Bandai DX SOC version.... Yes it could be years away but it will be so overwelmly better.

Yeah I won’t be able to enjoy this when I’m 75 years old if they continue with current numbering schemes. 😂😜 LOL, exactly my thoughts. We've got quite a number of DX candidates before Tetsujin 28. The generation that actually care about Tetsujin 28 may all have died by the time they get to it based on a one-release-every-two-year schedule. Bear in mind, this Tetsujin was GX-44 in the SOC line.......and as of 2018 they've only made it through GX-03. Besides, the one we all truly want is the 16 inch Popy giant with the elevator inside the leg. The charm of this evolution toy version certainly is the fact that it tries to incorporate many of the details reminiscent of the old Popy. At least to me, that is a major draw for this release. If anime-accuracy is the focus of SOC DX, it may not have some of the charms this ET toy would have, not to mention the old Popy. I still remember back in the day, I visited my schoolmate's house and was awed by the Popy Tetsujin 28 that was just standing in their living room floor.

Yeah obviously I’m old school. I’d rather have no Tetsujin 28 than small one. That huge Godaikin is what I remember T28 as. I passed on SoC few times already. If Bandai makes DX I have no problem throwing down money on one. But right now my collection has void and needs to be filled. 😀 like I said on earlier comment this can be placeholder for now. I don’t mind taking the risk either buying it that’s how bad I want this character in my collection but it can’t be small. I saw the Godaikin at anime jungle for $1200 incomplete and broken one. So what they asking for modern one is like small change to vintage.

Evolution toys definitely has their own take on Tetsujin, and has put in a lot of love with the gimmicks and opening panels. The action toy one to be honest look a lot like the SOC down to the color pallets, and likely a straight action figure with little other gimmicks . I like both, but feel like the ET has put in a lot of love while Action toy will probably cash in.
I need to look at the line art to see which is more anime accurate.
