Okay, I've spent some time with Great. Some thoughts...
This one is a winner. I was never interested in any version of GX-02; just didn't look like Great to me. But this one looks bloody fantastic. Feels solid and hefty enough besides.
The ankle screw-up bothers me a little. Just a little. I probably wouldn't even use that articulation if it was there. Still, it feels like something is missing.
The neck joint is a bit ugly. Seems like they could have sacrificed some of that poseability to look a bit better. Maybe even have an alternate neck that prioritizes looks? Not a big deal, but probably my only real complaint with the figure.
The fin on Great Booster could fit a little better. There is a visible gap.
So many accessories I'll never use. I'm not complaining, it's good that it comes with all that stuff for those that want it. But damn, even more than most SOC's, I feel like I could've been happy with less than half of what's in the box.
Still can't figure out how to safely take the boomerang off. What the hell?
Despite some issues, I'm very happy with it. It's the Great I've been wanting for decades. Very fun and solid. So good-looking. Getter is gonna be amazing.

"Great" review!! Seems like beside couple of minor issues, this is a fine figure!
Ill try mineral oil on one of the ankle if that will loosen it up. Ill report in.

Okay, the ankle joint DOES extend. It's just really tight. I managed to wriggle it down and it works great now. Don't pull straight down, you'll just pop the foot off. You have to work it slowly. I figured it out by accident while trying to put on the spin kick blades. So good luck!

Just by wobbling the foot around the ankle for half a minute I was able to extend it down. Turns out they're just nice and tight. Thanks very much, (appropriately named) FixedInPost!

I just want to add some further notes about this beautiful chogokin beast.
PAINT: Aside from two small spots on the Great Booster, the paint on this thing and throughout all the parts is FLAWLESS. Even on the face-plates, around the eyes and on the jaw grill and the color line between the face and jaw, where normally I'd be tempted to do some touch-ups, the paint apps follow the edges of the sculpt perfectly.
HEAD and NECK: There's a lot of nice engineering going on in the small spaces of the head and neck. The face-plate attaches easily and securely, with the pilder acting to additionally lock it into place. The neck still looks a bit ugly in profile, but I rarely notice that while playing with it. And I've come to appreciate the expressive poseability, and how cleverly the clearance allows it to tilt back for flying poses. It really is a good design. The only quibble I might still have is a small sprue mark blemishing the right side of each jaw. It's barely noticeable, but I think maybe it could have been hidden entirely by moving the sprue connection to the underside of the chin.
BOOMERANG: I finally managed to get this off the other night, and now it attaches and detaches with ease. I guess a little burr of plastic was getting in the way until I flattened it by forcing it through the opening. In any case, with that working nicely and the ankle fix that FixedInPost gave us, the toy feels brilliant and well-engineered all around. (All that forceful grappling of the ankle ball with pliers got me nowhere, and then FixedInPost suggests wobbling the foot a bit and that works in less than a minute. Ha!)
ARMS: I though that the shoulder covers on these Dynamic Classics would be a bit awkward when playing and posing, but surprisingly I find myself liking the design better than simpler old-style shoulder joints. It looks great and isn't something I notice when moving the arms around. The hands seem nicer than most SOC hands. Not even sure why. Sharper mold? Better paint? More satisfying fit on the wrists? All of the above, maybe? Also, the Drill punch forearms are cleverly molded to hide the seams and look fantastic. I did sand and polish some sprue marks off of the front of the grey plastic elbow hinges, but that was the only work I did on the whole damn toy, and it took all of 2 minutes. I think the only SOC that I put less effort into was GoLion.
GREAT BOOSTER: Okay, so I lied just now. I also trimmed the tab on Great Booster's fin, which lets it sit lower and gets rid of the gap between the fin and the fuselage. Less than a millimeter's change will do it. I still find Great Booster disappointing though. The two tiny over/under-sprays on my Booster's paint aren't remotely a big deal, but the wings and fin feel like an afterthought compared to everything else that comes with the bot. Their leading and trailing edges are squared off, not tapered to a sharp edge like the wings of the Scramble Dash. It feels cheap and silly in comparison. I'm not that big on the Great Booster anyway, so the whole thing is just tossed in my parts bin.
The STAND: I have no use for bases and stands. I toss them in a parts bin and forget about them. It's no different with GX-73, yet this one puts past efforts to shame. The way it opens to store smaller parts is an improvement a long time in coming. Disassemble the wings and fins, and both scranders can fit inside the base as well. Sculpted details give the impression of a huge robot hangar without being distracting. Also, the name plate is real metal, with a richer, shinier gold chrome, a smooth finish, and a subtle rounding of the edges. Much classier than the clunky old plastic nameplates. Still not something I'd bother with, but finally something that has the same high-end design as the robot itself. ...
Overall, this thing just gets better the more time I spend with it. It veritably oozes with expert engineering and well-refined sculpting. The joints are smooth and tight, the finish is amazing, ...I no longer have any complaints. It's all icing. Oh man, they better make a DC Grendy.

i just got mine, and i went through it quickly, here what i come up with
1- the ankle joints, its stuff yes but if you pull it you wont break it because its a ball joint and it will attached back with ease, mine wasnt very stuff tho i little left and right motion and it was fine and ready to use
2-the boomerang on my unit is not solid, i mean its not like the GX-02 boomerang for example and while its on the chest it wiggles a little
3- overall i feel that the D.C Mazinger z is better than this, the D.C Great Mazinger is giving me the feeling of a combiner not a solid robot
any way i will try to play with it later at night or maybe on the weekend when i have time
now how to get those hangers ? i have a PO.Box in japan but what i should do to get them all the info is in Japanese lol

Just got mine! Man did I spend 10 minutes trying to figure out where all the hand parts were in the box lol.
A little tough to stand and pose. I find it a bit finicky and the arms aren't as intuitive as I'd like. But otherwise this thing is a BEAUTY. Makes me wish i didn't return my DX Great Mazinger.

Huh, why is it tough to stand?
Are the ankles too loose? Hips too loose?

Ankles have next to no range. So any stance with the legs wider than the hips it's hard to get the feet flat.

Aw..Surly, please read FIP and Tiffer's posts from a page back.
They said you can "wiggle" the ankle loose to pull "the ankle extender joint." I think you will absolutely LOVE the figure then.

Appreciate that. I had actually tried that initially but the foot just popped off. Guess I was too rough with it. Certainly helps, although it still isn't the best ankle movement in the history of gokins. But also, not the worst

Ok so i tried extending the feet and i think mine were already extended. I think what extends is the balljoint in the feet, I was expecting the gray piece at the ankles to extend

Just got my Great from CDJapan...
AAAmazing packing job. The toy box is absolutely PERFECT!! Its a A+++ speicemeqnt. Tho im not a box collector, I'm REALLY tempted to just keep it in the box. The thing is pristine. Not even tiniest dings on the corner, nothing.... Its look as though it JUST rolled out of factory.
I usually do not gush about packing job or the condition of the box as i dont give a two cent about it.... But wow. CDJ out did everybody else. Oh, and the box itself is heavy as hell....i like~ that.
