If a renewal of Dancouga means a total remold and correcting its issues...then I'm definitely buying one.
I don't see any issues regarding the original Baikanfu, though.

Juat got information from Tamashii Nation Asia FB Page. It will be renewal for both Dancouga dan Baikanfu. Hopefully what they mean by renewal is not just recolor. Inresring...

My guess is that it will be the exact same model. Kind of legacy edition. Just for the name alone, a GX-13R already exist.

Wonder if these re-issues/renewals have anything to do with sentinel releasing their version of Baikanfu. Or perhaps the other way around, Sentinel saw the Bandai SOC polls and decided that there is enough demand to do their own version of Baikanfu. The timing doesn't seem coincidental!

Well when you put 2 and 2 together it does add up. I am just a bit bummed that we may not get a new mold of SoC Dancouga for a while.

I already have the SOC and ES gokin. But the SOC Baikanfu is one of few SOC whose sculpt I'm not too fond of. So I may yet if I come across a good deal.

I overall like SOC's sculpt more than Sentinel's, as I don't like the boxy flat chest look of Sentinel's. SOC has a rounder organic shape to it. However, the shoulders of SOC does sit low, and make Baikanfu's neck look long. Sentinel on the other hand solved that nicely and made the robot has an overall more proper proportion and more heroic/dynamic. I think Sentinel did a great job improving the shortcomings on Bandai's. Just that some of the artistic rendition is not to my liking (the boxy shapes). Not sure how the engineering and sturdiness stacks up though, as that is what excels on the SOC. Borrowing Chen's pic from the other thread.

The biggest reason is the chest of Baikanfu, which to me looks like sagging boobs. Then the head sculpt, where the face mask is too small and the "helmet" too thick. The upper thighs are too thick and I don't think the long knee spike is accurate. On the other hand, the Kenru and Rom on the SOC are excellent! The sentinel looks nice but too stylized for me. But it does look nice. The ES Gokin actually has really nice sculpt despite it being a SD figure. It's too bad it's a SD and doesn't really fit in my collection. At the end of the day I still haven't found my definitive Baikanfu yet. Some ref pic I found on the web:

hehe, was about to post that reference pic, locidm beat me to it It's quite obvious that Bandai's rendition is closer to the anime than Sentinel's.

comparing Bandai and Sentinel's releases seems unappropriate.. coz they have a different approach on a certain product. Bandai cant alter its designs to make it stylized coz its not really what the product was supposed to be.

Likely not. The selection of these came off a public poll. They offered up 5 of their more commonly asked for re-issues for the public to vote on. Baikanfu, Dancouga, God Sigma, Ideon and the GX-50 Combatler V. Baikanfu and Dancouga got the most votes. I can understand Baikanfu as that has long been a hard to find one, well regarded and sought after by latecomers to SOC. But Dancouga kind of surprised me? Maybe riding the Voltron/Megazord wave of goofy animal combiners? Somebody seeking a Robo Zoo display theme?

The announcement of the SOC renewal was made the day before the pre-order start date of the Sentinel.

The announcement of the SOC renewal was made the day before the pre-order start date of the Sentinel. Nah! Of the list of 5 they put out there Baikanfu was the most asked for for awhile now. There's been clear market interest there. It especially peaked a year ago when Marusan re-released CM's Gordion tooling. If Bandai wanted to mess with Sentinel's version they have a number of better options than rigging a public social media poll. They could simply outright release it on their own. They could have simply vetoed the licensing. While Sentinel's is likely through the sub licensor Production Reed, Bandai as the ultimate owner of the IP could likely contest it if they felt it directly conflicted with them. It's very likely that the Baikanfu and Dancouga renewals are exactly as advertised. Just what topped out in the poll. Nothing more nothing less. I do find the five choices offered in that poll interesting, not for what it included, but for what it didn't? The absence of two other often asked for robots, GX-04 Grendizer and GX43 Daimos make me wonder if they have no plans to rerelease that tooling and will instead offer new versions at some point?

I'm surprised people still want GX-04S despite being such an old mold. Then again, they voted Dancouga too despite the Sentinel version pretty much blowing it clean out of the water.

I didn't expect Godsigma to be one of the 5 robots nominated for re-issue, considering the fact that the cartoon is almost forgettable compared to Ideon, Dancouga and Combattler V. It's a total shame they didn't include Daimos in the nomination list. Grendizer gets overlooked most of the time anyway compared to the popularity of Mazinger Z, so I don't care about the former.

SOC Bankaifu is a great design. Sentinel still offering a unique take... But Imo, let's bet on what Action Toys will bring with the Machine Robo line
