I didn't expect Godsigma to be one of the 5 robots nominated for re-issue, considering the fact that the cartoon is almost forgettable compared to Ideon, Dancouga and Combattler V. It's a total shame they didn't include Daimos in the nomination list. Grendizer gets overlooked most of the time anyway compared to the popularity of Mazinger Z, so I don't care about the former. I think God Sigma has a better rep from the toys and robot design then he does from the TV show. The show is forgetable. The actual robot has presence. Reminds me a bit of the SOC Tryder in that regard. Great robot... unwatchable show.

Yes, Godsigma in SoC and Godaikin versions are impressive. Wish it came with more weapons, though.

I just preordered the Sentinel version of Baikanfu off HLJ but do plan to order the SoC version as soon as it's available.

Would be very interesting to see what sort of renewals that Bandai doing to SOC Dancouga dan Baikanfu. Hopefully it's not just recolor like Bandai did to Daitarn 3 and Gunbuster. I already have both SOC Dancouga dan Baikanfu. But if the renewal version offers updated engineering, I'll get em.

Either a full recolor, probably a few minor engineering changes to tighten up joints and joinings, and going by past experience, possibly some new stuff in the box. Extra weapons or effects parts type things. For example the GX-01R had some changes to the sculpt.

I hope Bandai do something significantly good to the old Dancouga I doubt it is going to be anything major. Certainly not like GX-03 to GX-50. A color change, some minor tweaks to fit and finish to correct any glaring issues, and maybe some new or bonus item to encourage a second purchase. I mean this comes from a survey of what they should re-issue. So they aren't looking to create a whole new figure or do wholesale re-engineering.

Well there is the issue, the engineering for the old GX-13 is decades old and the Sentinel Dancouga has fixed some issues of the old mold such as how the trunk of Big Moth can be manipulated for waist articulation for Dancouga and how Sentinel fixed the partsforming issue for Eagle Fighter to become the head of Dancouga. Then we have the elbow joints for the Big Moth and Dancouga which the ratchets really aren't that solid and then the various extra shoulder articulation the Sentinel has added. There is so much to redo the old GX-13 that any new SoC Dancouga release may be much like the Dynamic Classics in terms of an overhaul.

I doubt that they will go that far with a fan request "re-issue". On your list we will likely see materials improvements to the weak ratchets. maybe some slight improvements to the Eagle Fighter as that is a small separate sub component. But don't expect any major changes to points of articulation such as the waist or shoulders. It really doesn't matter what Sentinel has done. It's not an overhaul. It is a re-issue. it won't be a whole newly designed robot. They are re-releasing one of their older big bots.

Then we all shall wait for 'the next announcement' Bandai promised earlier this month, after they decided of doing not just reissue, but renewal for both Dancouga and Baikanfu.
I'm aware that recently Bandai started being more aggressive on its competition in the market (just like Takara Tomy).
Hope for the best!

I hate choices at times. Sentinel is also releasing Baikanfu. Sentinel vs Bandai... hard choice.

I hate choices at times. Sentinel is also releasing Baikanfu. Sentinel vs Bandai... hard choice. For me it's easy, since I prefer sculpt and design that look close to what these bots look like in the anime back in the days. That's why I prefer Bandai's. Sentinel Metamor-force line's designs are more stylized and highly influenced by Masami Obari. It's the way they differentiate themself from other lines

Ironically, Bandai's Baikanfu looks more Obari than Sentinel's, and that's probably why I like it better. Rom Stoll himself looks a lot better on Sentinel's, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.
Regarding Dancouga, the only thing the SOC has going on for it at this point is the size and Eagle having knees. That's about it.
I just hope Sentinel reissues Dancouga at some point like they did Giant Gorg.

That's because Masami Obari was indeed the animation director for few episodes of Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos. He's also involved in Super Beast Machine God Dancouga. So I think it's only natural if the SOC's design has Obari's feel to certain extent.
But as for Sentinel metamor-force line (maybe Riobot line too?), in my opinion the artist partners (including Obari) must have been given more liberty to design and redesign the mechas following their ideal. Without much concern on making them precisely how they looked like in the anime. This also happened to the prototype design of Govarian.

Just recently purchased a sentinel dancouga..and the price is quite steep! 290 incl shipping but heard alot of good stuff about the sentinel line. Still looking forward to this v2 dancouga..i hope they reissue or rerelease daimos!

I'd buy both if they are updated. Dancouga is one of my favorite designs, and I own the original. I don't own Baikanfu, and I'd like to get one eventually.

It has been a while since anyone has posted something on this thread.
