If there’s not much difference comparing the original one then I’ll skip, if not, take my money again haha

Why Bandai?? Why? Geez, at the rate they're doing reissues, the whole line will be double tapped. Tsk... Gold

Looks exactly the same as the original! No. No it’s not. Noooooooooo ! Ehehe original release was 18k gold plating right ? Now we have 24k !!!! It’s 6 time more than a 4k tv guys !!! Hahaha Seriously Bandai, what a lack of imagination. Imo I would rather have a DX SOC version of it. I am sure Sentinel or Action Toys will come with a dynamic style of this mecha😉

Unless they improved the plastic chrome coating, this piece is not gonna last, as much as I like Gold Lightan very much. Some of the limb panels have oxidized...and I handle this thing with gloves. Doesn't help if they 36K or 48K coated the metal parts. Its the plastic chrome that will go bad.

Don't remember the 18k vs 24k, but if true that appears to be the only difference. I wouldn't be able to tell between them for sure. I bet you there will be scumbags who buy the new one, swap out the old one with 18k and sell it as 24k!

Yes. Gold plating. So it's not made of gold, just covered in a thin layer.

I don't mind the re-issues. It allows for new comers to fully get involved and cuts down on some of the astronomical aftermarket collectors prices. Plus it leaves out hope that we will finally be able to get those rare pieces we skipped or missed. And it keeps someof the more oddball classic robots in the public eye. It's not like we can complain that we aren't getting enough NEW stuff lately? I mean back to back to back we got Voltron, Daizyujin, anime accurate Maz Z, Gr Maz Getter 1, SOC Mazinkaiser and we are getting a new Grendy! That's all in a matter of MONTHS! Our wish list is starting to look a bit sparse and niche. Just about the only thing major really left on it that keeps recurring is Dairuger XV. And we have some indications that Bandai is planning him in the not too distant future as well. (yeah, when the VP brings up the robot in a casual interview without prompting, stating its something that everyone has been asking for... it's happening.)
As for Gold Lightan... I'm meh. I don't really know this robot. I do think it's kinda cool in a "look it:s a 1:1 scale model of a Giant Robot on my desk!" sort of way. But let's be honest. It's a gold chrome robot that looks like it would be bolted to the hood of a 1970's purple plush El Dorado owned by a guy named Huggy Bear.

The Chrome or the Oxidation? Because removing the chrome is disturbingly easy. Removing the oxidation, not so much.

A lot of people I know think the original gold lightan and the reissue from a few year ago are a lot better than the SOC. In fact, the SOC is only slightly bigger than the original lightan. I didn't buy the SOC but I love my reissue of the original.
As far as the switch to 24k gold plating I think it will give the SOC reissue a different appearance. Maybe softer or shinier overall. I think the color itself will be the same unless they tint it a bit. I expect they will just stick with a plated yellow gold, but it can be tinted a bit to maybe make it a brighter yellow gold that will pop more than the original release. I feel like the original SOC was more like a light yellow gold. I am interested to see them side by side, hopefully in person.
Also, remember that the higher the karat, the softer the gold because it includes more real gold than filler metal. For example, if you ever tried to rip a standard gold chain off someone's neck to steal it - a 24k chain would break with very little force because the gold is so soft, 18k would be a little tougher and a 10K chain would be pretty tough to get it to break (the clasp would probably break before the chain).
Finally, with plated toys of any kind you will get fading, wear or oxidation. Bad plating or poor quality base metals can cause peeling/flaking/fading/oxidation etc. over time, but the oils from your hands can also.
When I play with my gold lightan or something like a godaikin golion, I wear gloves (cotton or nitrile) to avoid wear and potentially permanent finger marks. If I must play with a toy using just my hands, I wash my hands first then always wipe the toy with a slightly damp cloth when I am done.
