Is there any confirmation from Bandai stating SRC line is going away?I mean they still use SRC Mazinger Z mold to death to make Tamashii Nations exclusives and still have Gurren Lagann. I know they are repaints but personally hate to see line go away. They made some obscure robots in that line. Everything is speculation at this point. So far this new line is more focused on stylization opposed to anime accuracy?

We know for sure that SRC Mazinger mold has minimum of 9 more Chinese Zodiac color variants to go before retirement

Does the GX70 have die cast on it? Is 18cm tall confirmed? 18cm is confirmed and GX-70 has insane amount of diecast....insane for today's gokin standard. Thanks for the info. Still hoping it wont go over the $100 mark up.

I believe Kaus was referring to the most recent 2017 releases, such as Mazin Emperor or Mazinger Zero. All the SRC you listed are from 2016 or earlier and many did not sell well, such as SRC Giant Robo, Gunbuster, and God Sigma. They were even on clearance on some sites. Just look at the MSRP on Official SRC page and it's very easy to see how the prices have been consistently rising year after year. tamashii.jp/item_brand/superrobot_chogokin/I challenge you to find a new SRC mold from 2017 or later that sells for under $100. I say "mold" because the Chinese Zodiac Mazingers are under $100 and that mold was the very first SRC from 2010 that's still reused today.

I have no dog in this debate but Kaus is right. Recent SRCs, Mazinemperor G and Shin Mazinger Zero, both cost over $100 dollars on Amazon and other US retailers. The stuff you listed are all old and smaller. Bigger SRC figures cost more. And the last time an SOC cost less than $100 was GX-08 (40th Anniv.) Aphrodite A and maybe the GX-01R (40th Anniv.) Mazinger Z. Both are recolored reissues of a 20plus year old figure.

So far I am mixed on these. I feel like these will easily cost 10,000-12,000 Yen MSRP or more before preorder discounts, basically in the price range of Hi-Metal Technopolice/Dougram for example. I can't see them being less than that, and I feel like we haven't had much of anything for super robot toys/figures in the $30-50/60 range in a long time - they really need something at that price point.
As far as displacing other toys like SRC, I would say this is just like what they did to Robot Spirits with Metal Robot Damashii/Gundams - a little metal for a lot more money.
It's not exactly the same thing as what Hasbro did to 3 3/4" Star Wars with Black Series, but the idea to capture new buyers/have existing buyers buy another version of a character is there.
I will have to wait to see the finished images. Right now I could consider daitarn, and maybe voltes and zambot. I am not feeling the look of daimos or combattra as far as the initial pics show.
Cost will be a huge factor for me as the only SRC I own is Godsigma (loved the look/sculpt) and I have also potentially committed myself to the Hi-metal Dougram line as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I also want to see how crazy they will potentially get with this full action line as far as potential future releases, both as far as which characters and total # of figures.

SRC 2017 mold less than $100USD...Not starting a debate just want to prove a point that SRC IMO should be less than the $100 mark. I know its not US retailer but all my orders are from Asia and Japan. hlj.com/product/BANN12865

mojacko, we're just trying to tell you to be realistic with your expectations. You're posting prices of sold out products 1) not Soul of Chogokin, and 2) smaller in size, that would also be more than $100 even with the cheapest shipping option. You can pat yourself on the back if it makes you happy.
Everyone knows that production costs have risen, and Bandai has been increasing MSRP against our wishes. Sure, would be nice if these were under $100, but at 18cm tall (which is the size of the recent Metal Build Mazinger Z which is close to $200 shipped), and the fact that it is under the Soul of Chogokin branding, pratting on about how it needs to be under $100 is a waste of time to all the forum readers. Same as this nonsensical need to prove yourself right with examples that are not even close to the product in question. So go ahead, tell us again how SRC and SOC should be same in price and under $100.

i guess the new SOC FA line wont be heavy on diecast unless Bandai came up with insane level of engineering, so in my honest opinion it wont be so expensive
also if you notice some of the figures under TWE get the +$100 price tag but regular releases are reasonably priced
since these guys are 18cm it wont be in the same range of the SRCs
we all hope the price wont be + $100 since most of us will be at least 3

guys, guys GUYS!! (See what i did there teehee) Its all good if its AROUND $100. If its over C note? then Bandai better bring on the game.... None of these broken plastic shoulder joint on a $300 MB Quant crap! In other words, i dont mind spending few dollar more for Bandai not cutting corners.
BTW, SRC Godsigma is a very underestimated SRC...It is my top three SRCs. Very very well done figure imho. Its size killed it. But everythingelse? Wow... Umm good anonlogy this would be~Saying Tom Cruz ugly because hes short.. Come on now~

Now hold on and Lets rewind a bit, you said: "I challenge you to find a new SRC mold from 2017 or later that sells for under $100. I say "mold" because the Chinese Zodiac Mazingers are under $100 and that mold was the very first SRC from 2010 that's still reused today." I accepted that challenge beside the one sold out SRC, I posted this link on HLJ. Its a SRC 2017 mold under $100 price and it is "available". hlj.com/product/BANN12865Point is there are still SRC prices out there under the $100 mark and that is a good thing. No need to prove anything or tap myself at the back. Fact is they are out there. You want to be realistic that is fine. Nothing wrong with that. I am leaning to being optimistic but I did not claimed in my previous post that Bandai should price the new SOCFA below the $100 mark period. But instead I was "hoping" Bandai will do it as I am planning to buy multiple figures. Do you have a problem with that? If you think my post are a waste of your time then that is not my problem. This is a forum with members having a similar passion but with different opinions. You can read them & take it with a grain of salt. We can argue and debate back and forth disagree or agree. But at the end of the day, We will come back and talk again with a newer topic.

/mojacko Isn't it obvious that I was talking about the MSRP? All of the links you had provided are either at heavily discounted price because they were unpopular (Giant Robo) or recolors of the old molds (Mazinger Z) And something like Gunbuster isn't exactly a toy that came out 'these days' lol SOC FA line has complete new mold, and it is highly unlikely that they'd be found in bargain bin like GR. Of course, we order at discounted prices from online stores like amiami, but we pay the shipping, so we end up paying something close to the MSRP. When you take its complexity into account, this SOC FA is more in line with the Metal Build toys, and MB in similar size would cost around $200 'MSRP', but since this is SOC, we would have much more diecast which means it is likely that the price could go well over the $200 mark. It doesnt really matter!!! Point is there are still SRC price under $100 which is a good thing!!! You got a problem with my post take it with a grain of salt and move on. But whatever happens I will still buy this forsaken SOCFA even if I have to sell my kidneys. Simply because it is Voltes V!!! Now back to our regular program!!!

It is NOT under $100 because you have to pay the shipping. Dude your talking about MSRP, discounts and now your whining about shipping??? Are you just starting collecting or what??? Do you think the item will just magically appear in your mailbox when you hit the BUY button???
