just finished my photoshot for this figure, here is what i think of it
first i have to say i completely agree with Gold when he said since Bandai change the logo color to blue and kept talking about how awesome their QC system is, they just kept dropping the ball more than ones
first the plug of tiny rod in the stand kept falling ALOT
the brain condor also kept falling just by looking at it
and those are some of the annoying QC i had with this figure
there is some weird (stupid) design choices with the figure, you know when a Great Mazinger toy should be an improvement over a Mazinger z toy of the same line, well its not the case here
1 same neck joint problem the figure cant look up enough to do the flying pose
2 the ultra cool collapsed panel on the back of the legs are gone, i know they should make some space for the wings but those were super cool to see and have
3 lack of some key accessories, no thunder break effect, no navel missile effect (Mazinger z had missile punch with its own effect) and they didn't include the famous shaking hands
with that been said, the figure looks extremely good and under the right light you will see how beautiful the paint is but with all of this i still think Mazinger z is the better toy here (in my opinion)

Haha yeah I correct friends all the time too. These are not toys collectible pieces of modern art for me. Especially vintage pieces are expensive and timeless. The artwork on packaging from vintage pieces are worth buying. The photography and graphics of modern boxes as well is art to me.

Chiming again, you mean "man dolls" teehee.
yes arguably its ART first, but I need to say its ALMOST equally important as a toy....its an art based on toy... like some video games are art. At the end of the day, they should be fun....and in this case, it should be durable.
"I" want to play with it and I expect a durability of a toy that can be handled and last for decades without worrying about it breaking or "wearing off.."
Labled As a toy, it needs to be durable (AND non toxic...) to handle all the handling. Older Bandai toys\collectable lasts for DECADES AND without the use of cheap wearable toxic rubbery sh*tty PVC.
BUT On the other hand, you right....I dont think Chogokin line really wasnt market it as a toy. Metal Build even less...but still...

Even some of my vintage pieces say recommended 12 and up and modern ones say 16 and up. Hardly targeted to a “kid” .
All my items are proudly displayed, I don’t touch them unless I move them around. It really comes how you display them. Display them like junk or clutter and people will perceive it as toys. All my items are in glass displayed and lit up.
I joke around with my friends and wife’s friends you want to see the super robot museum. Hahaha. I’m proud to show people who visit my collection.

I dont know about treating them like junk but I do have few latest and the most favorite where I can access them easily so I can play and handle them.
They are with other clutters like keys, remotes, bills, water cup, and other things on top of coffee table, so yes, I def treat them like toys. I have do some on "display."
And some are in moving boxes..and it's been two years since they been there....
I am one of the older collectors..i mean REALLY OLD! I figure, I only have good 20 years left (at the most) so I want to play... If I had Ferrari, I'd drive it. Absolutely awsome to keep it mint in the garage to admire it tho ..
Different strokes for different collectors but maybe I'm the minority of collectors.

I’m probably in the minority. I’m probably only one here that went to group therapy for hoarding! Yep surround by bunch of old women who hoard but I wasn’t hoarding I had acquisition problem but my house is not full of junk from top to bottom. It was enlightening and I’m reformed now. 😛

i guess the best name is Adult Collectibles
the price is not for kids
the sharp and small accessories are also not for kids
and definitely they are meant to be treated with care (even tho some are tougher than a rock lol)

These are still toys. You can play with them (I do it). They may be more adult oriented but toys in the end. I guess people assume that there can't be toys for adults (and I'm not talking about sex toys ) so they try to come up with names that sound more mature, let's call thing by their right name guys...
