Well now I feel stupid, this was probably my most anticipated upcoming figure and I drop out of following this thread for a few months and now not only did I miss out on the announcement pictures but then I missed out on the pre-order. I was seriously just sitting around just going "I wonder where that metal build eva is at in it's production cycle, maybe they dropped some pictures of it, let's go check out the forums" . then bam, a freaking punch to the mouth lol. Looks like I'll be paying 3rd market prices for this one, I see cdJapan has it for 110$ increase in price, I just might have to bit the bullet on this one and pay that surge pricing. The PO was crazy with this Eva. Much faster than any Gundam PO, even through US retailers like BBTS. I was hoping to get one for less than the US retail at $240 but it literally sold out at all Japan shops within 2 seconds. Then some shops relisted at over $300 whcih was a dirty move. yea, it really sucks, looks like I'm going to have to pay around 400$ for this if I'm going to get it. The cult following around evangelion is truly insane, does any other anime draw this kind of attention to it's higher end collectibles? I don't remember Voltron being anything like this and it seemed like everyone wanted that one.

I don't remember Voltron being anything like this and it seemed like everyone wanted that one. Wasn’t Voltes V gx-79 hard to get? When I first tried to order everyone pre-sold out. Now it’s been up for preorder again on several sites including BBTS, and is still up. Same with the metal build Movie Mazinger Z. it was everywhere for original retail after release. I’m sure preorder will open back up before release. Just keep checking back. I wouldn’t order it for more than retail until after release. No reason to pay flipper prices when the figure hasn’t even been produced for retail yet. It is not a limited run.

Prior to SOC Voltron, most of the Transformers collectors were clueless about Bandai SOC and Metal Builds. Add to the fact that 3P is running out of Transformers that people want, since most collectors have more or less all the G1 characters they want. Their attention and budget has shifted to SOC and other gokin toys.

Just to clarify, CD Japan didn't jack up the price. Its actually their proxy service to try find the Eva for you from their proxy partners, since they sold out their preorder stocks. So the $110 hike is from someone else, that CD Japan found selling, from what I can tell. Almost similar to Amazon's marketplace, with sellers that partner with Amazon, but not part of Amazon.

You've got a point, while I still collect third party transformer figures it was really Voltron and Power Rangers that brought me over to SOC and Metal Build, then I got the Pacific Rim figure and now I'm dying for this Eva figure, hopefully preorders clear up shortly and I'll be able to put an order in.

Yea I realized this after my post, I saw their website was sold out but the proxy service had the figure and I realized the Proxy was a 3rd party seller.

I used to collect MP transformers, 3rd party (but before that it was Gunpla) but since getting my first SOC which was Voltron, shifted my attention to SOC, then my focus is now with metal builds with my love w/ gundams and now DX Macross chogokins

Yes! Finally. Thanks for the link. sh*tting amazon packing but at least it’s retail. $26 in sales tax but oh well. Beggars can’t be choosers, and if it opens up elsewhere before April, which it likely will, no hassle to cancel.

Wow $26 in sales tax? Is that Chicago or Long Beach, CA? I thought NYC was steep at 8.85%.

Los Angeles + California. 9.5%. And it’s actually $22.80. I had a brain spasm and typed $26 because the total is $262.80.

But I hope to still snag one later on from NY or BBTS. Or perhaps I’ll order through my local comic shop on Diamond Previews. Price should be $240 still, but if the wholesale price is low enough, they give me 25% off, so even after the tax that can be a great deal. But oftentimes Bandai stuff doesn’t have great wholesale cost.
