It’s crazy to think I have 3 GX-88s coming my way soon. All from U.S vendors such as Galactic Toys and BBTS. Really screw N-Y for the way they treat their customers. It’s obvious to me that they bit a little more than they could chew. I would probably still be one of the people waiting if I had t cancelled and got a refund from them.
PS: I am not hoarding all 3. One is for me and the other two are already spoken for by fellow collectors.

The biggest eye opener and well received surprise I got from GX-88 were the tank treads. I thought they were all just 1-piece molded static tank treads. I had no idea that they were actually functioning. I was really wowed by that.

VV just showed up from entertainment earth. All was in tact. The box was not huge, but it was thick material and large bubble wrap all around. I will get to opening it after finals likely.

The GX-88 is the best version of Dairugger for sure; but for me it’s just not what I’ve been waiting 30 years for. Is it definitive, in the way I feel the GX-71 is? I’m not sure yet.
Two initial grips:
1) I’ve always known Dairugger/Voltron I to be massive - the original 80s toy towered over the lion Voltron I had. 2) The clip on chest piece has the same (potential) flaw as the original; I can imagine the clips snapping of over time. Now, I realize this isn’t a child’s toy; and most of us will display it - but I think they could have engineered this better.
(Maybe a third one - perhaps not quite a grip, but an observation)
3) I honestly expected more diecast and more heft - when lifting the GX-88 and lifting the GX-71 the difference is very very noticeable.
I do think it looks amazing and it’s much more stable than my miracle VV.
I need more time with the toy to form a more mature opinion.
Again, super glad that Bandai produced it; but still have that - not so statisfied feeling - that I think I ought to have after a three decade wait.

If it makes you feel better, I've been looking at those chest clips. They appear to be made of ABS plastic as opposed to the Styrene of the Original. ABS is the same stuff they make Lego out of. It's quite resilient and has enough give that the clips should last a long time so long as not abused. I would not recommend a shelf dive. But normal use should not break them. As for VV being more massive compared to GoLion? It kind of depends on what you use as a reference. If going by the old Popy/Matchbox toys then yeah VV is towering. But if you go by the WEP produced animated Voltron crossover movie VV is just slightly taller at the head than Lion Voltron. The nose cone on VV's head Jet should be higher than the Black Lions horns, but the Lion's Wings are taller than VV. Which is dead on what they pulled off here.

Anyone know what the four small blue circular joints are for that were included in the package?
I might have overlooked in the instructions what function those serve.

I'm late to the party, I received my GX-88 last week and only managed to play with him just 2 days ago. Oh man, oh man, I'm blown away! 15 pieces of vehicles able to form one big robot - amazing with very good articulation!! The colors do pop out especially in person and this thing is heavy. It is a truly dream come true as I grew up watching both the Lion and Vehicle form and I'm blessed that I own both of them Now to wait for DX Voltes V next year. Thank you Bandai!

I could not resist. I had to open it. I enjoyed putting it together at least as much was Lion Voltron. Engineering is great. They look equally good, though I think the aesthetic on VV is slightly better. I only have some minor gripes. I do not like the hole in the red plastic on the shin. The ankles are eh in looks, but they are livable. The clicks in the shoulders could be better. Thats it. I do not regret buying this is an awesome figure, I will have to sit down one day this month and do both of them at the same time to decide my TOTY.

The hole in the red part of the shin is sorta kinda supposed to be there. That's where the chrome radar mast goes when it's in Sea mode. Every version of the robot has had that hole so far as I can remember?

BBTS sent me a notice on November 25th saying my Dairugger was ready to ship, as of today, December 4th, it still has not been shipped yet with USPS..... You didn't accidentally leave it in your Pile of Loot, did you? You may want to double check with them. It's probably that it didn't go out last week as that was Thanksgiving in the US so almost nothing would move between Thursday and Monday. It did finally ship so hopefully I get it next week sometime :-)

Those are for the tamashii act stands to connect to the spin kliders to look like he's throwing them(similar to the four lion attack gimmick on the gx-71).

When untabbing the red jet rugger push up and out towards you on the nosecone and it should release fairly easily. Do not try to take the red jet straight off as it will never let go. It seems the tab closer to the nosecone has more give or springyness in the hinge. Hopefully, this makes transformation more fun and easy.

So, yesterday, I had enough. Per what I read in this thread from others, I asked NY to cancel my prepaid preorder. The agent who took care of it, "Fiona", said a refund will be issued. But, so far, I see nothing in my CC.
For those who got a refund from NY, how many days did it take? Seriously, these guys are pissing me off. Sigh.
