Well, I finally got the 3 teeny 179 LR621 button batteries inserted. Unfortunately, the light up feature doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions? Since this product is brand new, I can't imagine that the batteries are dead already.

Hi.
If you are old as me( and that's OLD haha)...is there a possibilty that you could have inserted one or more of the battery "the other way?"
Or battery could have gone bad..i wouldnt rule it out. Even Bandai uses cheapo no name battery so i cant inagine KA including $5 usd Energizer or Panasonic batteries...
Mine is still on its way... please share youre thoughts on it when you get a chance?
The review on this guys is so rare....i only seen two, TWO box open on YT...The only wild photos are at instagram when you type godmazinger...

I do product photography, so, as soon as I have time, I'll do a full set. I'll try to snap & edit one tonight. I love him! I just don't love how hard it is to get the batteries inserted & I don't like that it's not working.

Nice! glad to hear you like it! Thats the first time anyone acknowledging him in positive light in english language haha. Looking forward your photographs. I knew nothing about him until a few years ago when I was doing a Google Image search on Great Mazinger. I saw this stone statue Mazinger & was like, what the hell is that?!?!? He looks amazing! I found out he was called God Mazinger & when I did an image search, all these cool paintings came up & I fell in love! Finally, I did a search on toys for him & found one disappointing one from years ago that got the colors wrong. When I saw this up for pre-order, I lost my mind! So happy to have him!

to be honest with you Energizer in here are insanely good, there is also another brand but its like a unicore you cant find it anywhere it called Bexel
but as i said we need a battery like the ones in the smart phones that could be recharged instead of hunting and buying for a new one
cant wait for your review

Just got it. Opened it and inserted batteries.
LED Works fine on mine. I will write up a detailed review soon.
But here is my first impression.
Pro Just get it.
Run and buy this thing before everyone realize how awsome this gokin is...i cannot recommend it enough. Better then 5Pro Getter 1. It hurts me to say that but i have to be real.
Con Inserting batteries was indeed pain in the ass.
Too small area for maneuvering three tinnies batteries fighting strong magnets AND a strong spring in a tinybattery compartment..you will need tools.
Again, at around $250, its a bargain. Its that good.

Pros 1.Ton of metal..in AND out. Chest, back, back of the thighs, and entire lower legs are thick cold metal. "The Entire Hip"(minus belt, the skirt pieces and joint parts of course )is a thick SOLID freaking metal!! That's crazy... A heavy piece. ...Gokin indeed a real gokin. 2.utilizing POM, Joints are smooth, none of Bandai cheap overtight bullsh*t. 3.Sculpt is dead on perfect! An ideal proportion for this character. 4.magnet AND LED gimmick!! The battery compartment (the skull cap) is a "magnet locked!" No screws no plastic tab... Brilliant and luxurious! 5.very very green packaging. Zero toxic fume, no enviornment damaging styro! No mystery Bandai grease... Cons 1.putting batteries in was frustrating. Took me a good 5min with using both hands and a tweezer... 2.nitpicking now...part of lower legs paint app is not lazer sharp as some of Bandai's offering. 3.no clicky joints... 4.Due to the sheer weight of the metal chunks, legs will droop if left to gravity. So No sidekicking without a support. 5.its Matt paint CAN look underwhelming under poor lighting...looks much better in person. Bit of over spray on left fore arm tho... 6.i dare not changing the face...its just so tight in there. Feels like im going to scratch up something trying to take the old face out.(edited: the fool, if i had actually read the instruction, i would have known to pop off the head first...) 7. in some more dynamic poses, the "break" of skirt make him look bad...and no hero landing pose. I give it 9.75.(edited to 9.5) A Possible runnerup to TOTY 2019!. Absoluetly worth every penny of that $245 (the total "i" paid at BBTS.) KA earned it... IMHO, this piece beats out Bandai, Sentinel AND 5Pro's "similar" offering... Truely a Masterpiece. Please Go and get yours before he sells out. Now let me ask you something, I mean, All things considered, How is Bandai's D.C. God Mazinger going to compete?

@greengetter: Yeah, man. I’m glad you like it too. It’s a great rendition of an obscure character. I love mine, although I think the light gimmick is a little underwhelming - not enough luminance for my taste but a cool option nonetheless. Regarding the face plate change: if you pop the head off of its ball joint, the faceplates come out very smoothly - I think you might need to slide them down, if I recall correctly. Pretty sure they’re held in by magnets like the skull cap but you definitely need to pop the head off to change them.

Ooh, thank you for the very valuable info!! I'll try that.
Yes, the LED needed tobe bit more bright. Hope KA will be even more thoughtful on this area on the next gokin.
Surprisongly, he feels sturdy too. I could tell KA used quality plastic on him.
EDIT: i just actually read the manual now, yes, yes you DO have to fully remove the head to replace face! BTW, the interesting thing about the eyes is that KA covered the clear eye part with a strip of metal or metallic material behind it..thus greatly reducing the strength of light when LED is on... When the bulb is bare, it is super bright. Interesting indeed...why did KA do this?

This piece beats out Bandai, Sentinel AND 5Pro's similar offering... When did Sentinel make a God Mazinger? I've googled and can't even find anything. Comparison pics would be cool if possible.

Sentinel didnt make God Mazinger as far as i know. Pretty sure 5Pro didnt make God Mazinger either...
To clarify, when compared to a Similarly sized, similarly priced, with mayne similar features, i prefer this offering from KA.
