I like what sentinel is doing reimagining the classics. They could have gone the easy way and do another mazinger like everyone else for the 1000th time... this is rather a unique piece and will look great with their mazinkaiser and grendizer (another great design choice, what they did to the spacer is pure magic). There are a lot of figures you can get if you want a more traditional mazinger... Looking forward to what they will do to great mazinger

I been wrong many MANY times. Still, here's MY two cents...and that's EXACTLY how much it's worth haha.
I think IMHO, Sentinel was at it's best at Riobot Shin Getter. A Perfect balance of reinterpreted design and still maintaining its great proportion.
Here, the proportion is so off its "odd."to me. The lower half is so short looks like top and bottom half is from different robot...
And his face...its looks so meek, so young and "inexperienced" looking? Haha.
Lastly, The tech details on his body now looks uninspiring..looks like after thought...Again, Shin Getter detailing looks like it belong there, but this looks lazy and just arbitrary.
Now let's compare this to Bandai MB Infinity and the new Eva line...just on looks alone, so I wont get burn for comparing apples and oranges. Well, In short, Bandai is catching up in ALL fronts and Sentinel needs to offer stronger then this. Bandai is known for ruthlessly completely overtaking any and ALL competition...

Isn’t the Shin Getter Riobot the exact same model of the OVA Armageddon anyway?

I don't understand how Sentinel's design team went from Riobot Mazinkaiser (amazing) to Riobot Grendizer ("ai'ight" but small, rad with the Spazer) to this Shin Mazinger (what in the f**k am I looking at.) It's bizarre.

While I don't agree with this Mazinger looking bad, I do agree with all your points and comparisons with the Bandai MBs. Riobot Gurran Lagann, Mazinkaiser, and Shin Getter all looks amazing and ahead of the peers. Grendizer went a little 'safe' on the robot proportions, but the Spazer is an interesting take. But having this Mazinger going even 'safer' with not much innovation, then a tagged-on turret mode is indeed going downhill in terms of design. Cool at first glance/reveal, but a closer look indicates some not so appealing sculpt on the face and body proportions. Meanwhile, Bandai is killing it with the MBs one after another, and offering more while costing less. Gotta say this looked promising and epic, until I found out it turns into a turret.

Isn’t the Shin Getter Riobot the exact same model of the OVA Armageddon anyway? This comment shouldn't be overlooked because it's true. It's pretty much just a 1:1 true-to-manga representation vs. artistic liberties outside of some paneling from what I'm seeing.

In my "mind," Riobot Shin's proportion IS Shin I see in OVA.
I just wanted to mention that id guess it takes considerable resources and inherent artistic talent to achieve that idealistic proportion for the character.

Riobot Shin Getter is close to the anime proportion, but I wouldn't say its exact 1:1 anime accurate. Aoshima's is more like it, with the bigger bucket belly, bulky round legs, and the gorilla arms . Sentinel pushed it a bit to make Shin look cooler.
