Since I can only choose one, I will go with Pose+ Baikanfu. It's design and engineering beats everything nominated. 3 figures that nest within each other and still is very posable. The figure has heft and nice paint applications. I do feel Voltes V might get the most votes just because of the fandom's nostalgia but for me it's just an oversized SOC. Nothing is new here and in fact even falls short on some things (ugly holes on the shoulders)

The box, the size, the loads of parts, sound and light gimmicks, and the fit and finish all yells quality. It makes you giggle like a kid playing it the first few times. So it is something special. But the adult in me agrees that, as grand as this set comes, it did not bring much surprises or innovation. Just a very straight forward bigger GX-31 with some improvements. POSE+ Baikanfu deserves better praise on the mere toy design, since it did what all previous Baikanfu toys can't, with a very unique approach on the combination and a perfect execution (minus the white plastic hip cover painted red that prone to paint wear, and a finger that loves to pop out). Tough call.

If you’re not happy with it I’m sure there’s collectors here that would be more than happy take it off your hands.

Tough call. The accessories are plentiful and the sound light gimmicks are fun. But as you said, there's not much innovation. The mechanics on the Frigate's thighs should have been applied on the shoulders to hide the holes. I didn’t know the SOC Voltes V GX-31 had improved hip articulation, shoulder articulation, Articulated fingers, chest LEDs, sound effects and Voltes V base. If you’re not happy with it I’m sure there’s collectors here that would be more than happy take it off your hands. I fail to see where I said I wasn't happy with it. The point was discussing the merits of what makes the choice TOTY. I'm comparing the two and why I find the Pose+ Baikanfu the better, NAY, the best choice from the rest. While fun, adding lights and sound gimmicks isn't innovation. Innovation would have been being able to implement waist and abdominal movement for the Voltes V given how it combines. That would have been a wow factor. And yes, it is for the most part still the same areas of articulation with some improvements on the range of motion in my opinion. I mean even the Action Toys Voltes V has about the same range of motion as the DX. I would like to see Action Toys (same company that does Pose+) to do their take on Voltes V under the Pose+ line though. DX Voltes V is a fun toy but for me, Pose+ Baikanfu is more fun and doesn't have the nostalgia factor to support it. I don't even know anything about Baikanfu yet my vote goes to it just for what the toy brings.

I don't even know anything about Baikanfu yet my vote goes to it just for what the toy brings. What are the merits, standards or characteristics of Toy of the year? Where is this information posted at? I’m just pointing out you said this nothing but an oversized GX-31 with no improvements which isn’t correct. For me Voltes V is an improvement from DX Combattler V in articulation. DX Voltes is 2 inches taller and pound heavier than Baikanfu and is 5 vehicle combiner. So we are comparing two different styles of mecha. Baikanfu is great and i have it close second but the fingers fall off easily and doesn’t have Leina figure like SOC.

For me, there are a few things I consider such as value and quality, engineering, and fun factor to name some. By your post, you consider weight and height as part of your reasons (merits) to consider Voltes V better. For me, height doesn't factor much and Baikanfu has decent enough weight.
Is Leina essential to the formation of Baikanfu and its weaponry that it needs to be included? I don't know much about Baikanfu like I said. DX Voltes V has a ton of accessories which I like. My Baikanfu's fingers haven't fallen off but who uses those hands to hold accessories or weapons anyway? Even Voltes's fixed posed hands are better and most likely used more than the articulated hands. I think Baikanfu's articulated hands are more expressive than Voltes's.
I see the Pose+ as designed and engineered better than the DX Voltes even if they're different mecha styles. Hence, I will stick to my opinion that the DX Voltes is just an oversized SOC (with slight improvements and lights/sounds). Articulation is still limited mostly to the limbs only with limited head and no torso movement. Pose+ Baikanfu is more dynamic even with Rom and Kenryu inside. I feel Bandai could have done better with articulation much like what they did with their SOC Golion and Dairugger. Those two beat any other iterations out there IMO.
So Pose+ Baikanfu gets my vote.

Guys, the TOTY election is a matter of personal taste. We don't have any special criteria, for example to me fun factor is the most important part of a toy, follow by engineering, size and weight are not really important to me. But I understand that to other fellow collectors size and weight play a key role...

If this thing came out in 2020, I am sure someone would vote for it over any other release. Just vote for what you love most. But a healthy discussion doesn't hurt.

Well If it was just up to me, King Arts Gaiking won TOTY 2020 hahaha
(And the only other contender from the poll I own is DLX OP....so I'm glad it's not up to me to decide hahaha)

I wish I had more figures in hand to compare, but my Pose+ Goshogun is still stuck in Nippon Yasan hell, and my order of CSS Gurren Lagann is for the later batch coming in April, so I cannot give assessments on these. Of the choices listed, my vote would go to DX SOC Voltes V. The display presence with the giant "V" as well as the size and fun combination, this thing is a VoltesV fan's wet dream come true.
The other ones I own on the list, such as: -DX Chogokin VF-1S Focker- I think it's excellent and this line has the best VF-1 toys ever made, but it's not anything new but more or less a repaint of the other DX Chogokins from the past 2 years. -DLX Optimus- Great figure, but I have some small nitpicks with the limited head articulation, and the undersized hands. -Kuro Kara Kuri Optimus- I would rank this higher than DLX Optimus. Though it is not as big, the Flame Toys iteration has better poseability, more LED effects, more accessories, and more fun to pose, but at double the price, it's a steep, steep investment. -KA Gaiking- Super impressive display piece. Paint is sculpt has consistently been KA's strengths, but some armor parts on Gaiking are frustrating to handle, as they pop off too easily, such as the Counter Cross stars on the knees, and the backpack. Regardless, I think this version by KA might be the best Gaiking toy ever made. -Metal Build Freedom Gundam Concept2- Huge improvement on the older release in terms of proportions, styling/detailing, and articulation, but of the MB Gundams released in 2020, I would prob give "best of" title to the Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Hana as personal prefernce.

Good call on the Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri Prime. Too bad it suffers the stigma of being a non-transforming TF, and the high price didn't help either. So not many actually get to own one to appreciate its engineering and fit & finish. Too bad.

So not many actually get to own one to appreciate its engineering and fit & finish. Too bad. I was against non-transforming Transformers until I got Star Saber, that thing was a beauty. However the price is the real kicker with these, and why I think the ThreeZero DLX series was more of a hit.

And 3A's joints?
Rock solid....
It's "engineered" friction joints....with actual thoughts and love that went into making them.

I wish I had more figures in hand to compare, but my Pose+ Goshogun is still stuck in Nippon Yasan hell..... Can't say about your other orders with N-Y, but I had the same POSE+ Goshogun with them before sitting in limbo for many months. When I managed to get them responded my ticket, they told me Goshogun was sold out and it was impossible to get one for me at that point. They briefly apologized and offered me store credits. That was 2-3 months ago. So don't sit on this one. Either try to get them confirm your order, or get your refund soon.

Congrats to Bandai for winning TOTY 2020!
Also a big congrats to Pose+ for being a runner up, not a small feat for a newcomer.
CCS and King Arts are not too far behind either.
Unless Bandai brings out a real badass, TOTY 2021 could be a real toss up!
Thanks fans/members for participating the poll, Bandai couldnt have won without you.
