My only SOC Mazinger is GX-01R, which I still love, but I preordered this one. I guess now I'll have 2 SOC Mazingers.

Yeah, I think they made GX-105 even closer to the anime. But makes me wonder, why make it more screen accurate to bad drawings (messed up perspective)? Now Mazinger looks like wearing his pants too high. If they follow this image, then we'll get tiny right shoulder and crooked uneven eyes next. This. That's why I never understand the need for some fans to have cartoon accuracy. Alot of them were crudely drawn. Transformers is also in this bucket -- I'm like, you really want a face sculpt that looks like what you saw in the 1980s?

The Transformers guys would consider these fighting words if we dare criticize their toon accurate expectations. It's ridiculous at times.

I dunno. Mazinger Z is so iconic that the market will likely bear endless iterations and reiterations of the character. We don’t have to buy them all but it’s clearly evident that the fan base wants slightly and/or significantly updated versions of the same character and will continue paying for them. At this point in my collecting career, like a lot of you guys, I’ve got dozens of copies of Mazinger from a variety of manufacturers. I’m personally pretty happy with GX-70. I might skip this one. But, then again, and the more I think about it, I might not. Damn you, Bandai.

come guys you are killing our excuse to get our 100th Mazinger Z lol
seriously tho i dont think they follow the animation scenes, as you know the robot even the characters changes from scene to scene, not to mention they change depending on the artist responsible of the episode, another point and in this case we are talking about Mazinger z a 1972 anime back in the day they didnt have anything to assure high quality in term of animation
i think they mostly go with the official illustrations, its much easier to copy from them

lol the figure comes with almost nothing, understandable for the price but come on Bandai its in a plastic tray not even in that foam thingy this is an anniversary release so it should be a bit nicer than this
i really wished if it comes with more stuff like effects parts
anyways, i was wondering about those odd lines on the arms, turns out they are for the rocket punch gimmick
also noticed they are using a similar articulation system to the one they used in GX45 pull the leg for more range of articulation
for the app this is what they are saying
"This app is under development as a new element to enjoy figures and toys more, and will be released as a free trial version for a limited time and area. Please experience the game like never before."
"As of December 2022, the app is under test development. Please note that it may be closed after a certain period of time. * Please refer to the application guide for details such as the operating environment and operation method."
limited time and limited area why do i feel this limited area will be Japan only

tamashiiweb.com/tn_blog/71/#! This is a nice little side-by-side graphic. GX-105 could almost be GX-70R in form, and almost certainly is in intent. Next to each other, GX-70 looks like a high school athlete, and GX-105 is the same guy a few years later as a college athlete. GX-70 is not that old. It seemed like D.C. would be the new standard edition for the relevant characters for some time longer. It surprised me to see a new Mazinger in GX-105 so relatively soon on the heels of GX-70 and the D.C. sub-line. OTOH, maybe it's not surprising, because GX-70 has really odd proportions. Regardless of intent, it doesn't resemble any print or screen version, though as others have said, those aren't good models for M Z's proportions anyway. GTX-70 never looked quite up to carrying the Z torch. GX-105 I can see carrying the torch.

On one hand, the rocket punch with no part swap or no extruding buttons is impressive, and with fire effects built into the elbow joint to boot. Extra belly panel to hide the seam of the opening hatch is also a nice touch. But the look is so similar to GX-70, I still wonder what was the point of this release, and the long gorilla arms didn't help either. My GX-70 & 70D are still not opened LOL, and we already have a newer one to replace them.

AS I have the rule one mecha, one toy. I will be sticking myself to my GX01 40th anniversary. I love it and I'm really happy with it. I don't feel the need of updating my mazinger... S_ agree with you in most point, but less foam is good for the environment.
