I only have three SOCs in my gear... and of the three, the only one that has been giving me trouble is the GX-49 for the neck issue that I recently had with it. It's overall design was really meant to demonstrate its ability to become the Big Bang Punch, as opposed to being posed as an action-figure; because its articulation is very limited.
Other than that, I honestly cannot call any SOCs crappy just yet, because I haven't been through them all.

Given, the crappiest SOCs on my list may still be half decent figures when compared to other lines, here is my short list:
EVA 01 - Pretty nice overall with good gimmick, but the weak ankles made this toy near unplayable and not stable in almost any pose other than standing straight. Doesn't fit the hanger stand either with the shoulder blades and lower arm don't line up with the stand, kind of defeated the purpose of the stand design...
Zambot 3 - Hands don't hold any weapons well, messy weapon tray that actually use part of the tank parts instead of its own display stand. The round saucer things on the knees keep falling off. My first SOC that has tabs break off on me during combination. Nowadays I only treat it as a bigger robot with a mini me (Zambot Ace) docked on the chest, rather than a combiner of 3 vehicles. Though it does look good still.
Raideen - Accessories fall off and hard to swap. Droopy shoulder covers that doesn't lock. Legs tend to collapse a bit too easy at times. Wish the God Bird mode a bit more solid. Can't balance too well when wearing the backpack wings. Joints not very sturdy even though it is quite similar to a standard Mazinger, giving the figure overall a pretty fiddly experience. But again, it looks great when not being handled.

I'm a sucker for all of them. But, "crappiest" would be every freaking exclusive repaint version of Mazinger released. And that includes those uber-rare ones.

I don't have the Iron Mountain/Castle Type R Mugen Nismo Sthingy Calsonic signed by Nagai's Dad version.
But, seriously, I try to get what I can but there are just too many of those. And so, those ones I can't get because they are super-exclusive? They are crappy.

Actually GX-01R+ is one of my top 3 favorite Chogokins. Its rarish, expensive and not exactly a repaint, but a resculpt too. And also yes MPCHI Zambot is the second worst for me too! Fiddly, stuff falling off,its not great at standing straight either, legs suck the most out of all the SOCs,and I have 2 of him too,so ive dealt with him and his reissue{nothing changed}both are the same, not very well done.Gaping hole in his chest sucks too!

this is a great thread. Mine is also EVAs loose joints won't hold any decent pose....awful design.
Now, where's the top three best/favorite SOC thread again?

Really, there would only be a "worst" SOC, because it'd still be miles above your average American toy and thus not "crap". The most underated SOC product is the Combattler Nanbara Base, absolutely love it,looks 70s anime, screams COLOR! shelf presence, houses GX-50 perfectly, just love it. Nanbara base has one thing going on for it that's a major strike against it. The price. I'm also throwing a vote for GX-31V for being too damn expensive.

I don't have them all, but from my SOC collection, it would be Combattler V GX-03. It`s so hard to pose standing up.

I don't have an SOC Daiku Maryu but my friend has one and I got to fiddle with it a bit and was left disappointed. Not only is the size small but it can't even stand up properly. For me this is one of the worst soc's since I loved to watch Gaiking and I feel that Bandai could have done better. They should make a new one that is bigger and I won't even mind if will have lesser die-cast as a trade off for the size increase.

GX-32 Gold Lightan. Had ZERO articulation and playability. For me. You mean in lighter mode right? Cause robot mode is super articulated

LOL! I noticed that some folks are bashing on figures they have never owned or evn handled. If you haven't even handled the SOC, you should not bash it. It's not fair. }D

hmm the crappiest SoC in order i would have to say by experience would be:
1)GX-49 Shin Mazinger with God Scrander: although he transforms into the big bang punch which is nice, this figure is pretty much like 96% plastic(seriously) and really less articulated in comparison to the more older SoC figures like mazinger Z Great Mazinger or even Grendizer. to make it worst they made this figure as a separate one taking an unnecessary position in the SoC line instead of incorporating all the stuff into one with the GX-45 Shin Mazinger which that one has the jet scrander and the figure has diecast plus a far better range of articulation. For me there was no need to make this separate, they could have make it with the GX-45 having Mazinger Z made of diecast with the articulation it came with and giving it the ability to transform into the big bang punch and including the Jet Scrander and God Scrander in one go. in my honest opinion the GX-49 is the worst one of the SoC line by a long shot. is like if they made 2 Great Mazinger, one been the GX-02 and the other the GX-03, one coming with the regular scrander and the other coming with the Great Booster. Hell, imagen Grendizer been sold as the GX 4,5,6 and 7 in the line but each one coming with the different set of spazers, that is so much BS.
2)GX-05 Daiku Maryu Gaiking: i do not posses this figure in my collection, a friend of mine use to so i can give a opinion about it since i was able to handle it before he sold it. is was a nice figure, in scale aspect to each other they look pretty good but im really disappointed that he was so....small. I mean, i understand at first they couldn't make Gaiking as big as Mazinger Z, Daiku Maryu would be ridiculous big and possibly to heavy for its own good, i mean if his joints are not strong enough to hold him right because his to heavy in that size then imagen if he was bigger (this is assuming if done in diecast as well), thats crazy. But they could have compromise and make Daiku Maryu in a vynil or plastic form and leave the joints as diecast, it would have been awesome to see such a thing. Also it wasn't solid as expected it would be, Gaiking had this tendency to separate easily since its friction holding him together but it was not solid enough.
3)GX-22 evangelion 04 production model: i posses the EVA-01 model and the EVA-00 yellow model(AKA protomodel), both of this has strong joints and they can hold positions with no problems at all, however GX-22 is another story, its joints of its legs are way to weak. In fact the only way his been able to stay up is if i tied him up into his stand with the rubber cable he comes with, if i don't do this it starts to bend on the knees and then suddenly its already on the floor. i think this is the most annoying one in the EVA set i got.
