Well let me say that I love this line so much that I daydream about pictures I want to draw of them (too lazy to actually do it though ), think of a storyline for a comic book series that included all SOC's (just picture it, a huge cosmic threat to Earth and all the SOC's figures have to fight it. Earths first line of defense in space would be Grendizer and Daiku Maryu, second line in air would be the Mazingers and Getters, third would be the ground troops Dancouga, Zambot, Com-Battler and Eva's and so on), think of an OVA series based on the comic book series I just thought of, I've even missed car payments just so I could get the latest release. But the biggest hint to what a SOC fan boy I am is that along with the numerous car magazines in my washroom there's an equal amount of SOC instruction manuals, there's nothing better than reading about Zambot's features while your doing your "business" ;D.

I love SOCs(my over-all favorite toy line) so much that I do sketches of my own SOCs(at home, parties, and school) and plan on giving them to BANDAI in the future.I also plan on working there too and make another Chogokin line for BANDAI.I also love them so much that I treat them as if they were my own children, always washing my hands before I play with them and put everything back perfectly in their package.

Well, I have 3 articulated lamps attached to my bookshelf that I leave on all day along with the ceiling lights to show off my SOCs. Lots of stuff looks good in dim light but for me the SOCs look best with bright light hitting them from multiple angles. I also can't bring myself to stuff them all together in a narrow space, even though I *do* have space issues- the loss of freedom for the poses and things in front blocking things in back is too much to bear.

CHOGOv9- Yes. But that shouldn't be a problem most of the time. What you do have to worry about however, is chrome deterioration. My Dancougar's sword is nasty-looking now if you look at it in the wrong light. Then again, a great majority of vintage pieces have chrome deterioration, to the point that once you're used to it, you just live with it. In particular with SOCs, never touch a chrome piece with your bare hands without wiping it off afterwards with a clean cloth or something.

Wait! Flashback! Do any of you remember the 1977 or 1978 Questor holiday edition where the Earth was under attack and the super robots (Voltes V, Mazinger z, UFO grendizer, Mekanda, and Daimos) were called upon to save the earth? I'm not on crack!

I'm not on crack! Hi Bomber2, Yes I do remember that Questor magazine. I used to won it myself but alas was burned together with our home in 1991. it was an amazing story, and it was nice to see all the robots helping each other to save the Earth from what I remember was the ally of all the villains. There was even a poster of all the robots standing side by side in a round formation...I remember Voltes V being the tallest and I was so proud of it. ;D

I have to go back a ways on this one. When I first got Gaiking (the GA version) I also scored big posters of both Gaiking and Daikumaryu. The Gaiking poster was my favorite. It gave the impression that the robot was probably a hundred stories tall. But since I knew nothing about the story I always figured that Gaiking had to be a bad guy of some sort. I always fantasized about just wreaking major havoc with that thing, especially if I was stuck in traffic. Los Angeles was toast, with San Francisco to follow soon after. Every time I looked at the toy I saw that hundred story tall demon warrior. The SOC's have that same hook on my imagination- maybe even a little more so since the sculpts are so much better than the older Popy figures. I still see giants when I look at the robot collection. I have mellowed on the idea of laying waste to Los Angeles, however. JWM

Thanks for not wishing on the destruction of LA. I am too close for comfort. Of course, I have a few Evas at my disposal that would come to my aid ;D

You know, waxing them had never occurred to me. Is this really something you people do? And if not, what other recommendations do people have for avoiding the eventual rust problem?
And if you really do use wax, I presume you do so only on the metal parts. What about the plastic surfaces? Does the wax effect the painted decals?

First thing I do is take whatever comes apart of the figure. Then I put a super thin coat of wax on the die cast and chrome die cast parts then buff it off with a cotton cloth (for you dad's out there cotton diapers are great too...just not used ones). DO NOT get wax on the plastic or in the figures faces since it will be hard to get the wax out and it will turn white. This is just what I do, I'm sure if you just regularly dust them and wipe your fingerprints off the figures will be fine.

I think half our dreams would come true if they released English versions of the SRW games. Or have a Super Robot game that was a mix of Final Fantasy and Mech Assault.

Ya know, I like super robot wars and have played a lot of the games, but the series really isn't as good as the Fire Emblem series when it comes down to it. I love playing with my favorite robots and all, but the last few games have been so lacking in challenge that they couldn't keep my attention.
Anyway, to anyone that wants to play SRW games, I'd recommend some basic study of Japanese + using the translation faqs available at gamefaqs. That's how my brother plays them. They're much better if you just can understand Japanese, but it's too much work to learn it to play one game series.

I know I love my SOCs...when I have to put on WHITE GLOVES to TOUCH THEM...whenever I display, rearrange or play with them even just a little bit...
Playing with them actually RARELY occurs..after I assemble the robot and display it..it is rarely touched...
they are just admired inside their glass display cases :-)

An old topic and another question about rusting. Lets say I wash my hand and dry them, and after that, I take out my SOCs. However when I touch them, heat comes in my hands, slight "sweat" comes out, I notice heat frost on them and when I look at it,it disappears. Will this affect the SOCs in any way(and the paint and chrome parts, too?)?

Wait a sec, never mind. Here's a science lesson. I think if you expose SOCs or any gokin to water, it might tarnish a little or it may not tarnish at all. It's simply based on the quality of the material used.Chrome is also the same case. The sword of Dancougar probably used a very low quality type of chrome plating. And anyway zinc doesn't really rust that much.(correct me if I'm wrong.).

I sleep with my SOC's at night, and kiss them in the morning for my Required Daily Allowance of Zinc. ;D ;D ;D
