Dang, that thing is tiny. The new Voltes is going to be like the new Combattler. A dainty, delicate, diminutive rendition of of a big bad metal toy. I hate to be the curmudgeon here, but I'm not impressed. JWM

jwm ... i agree with JWM ... i used to have combattler but i got rid of it cuz of its extremely delicate structure. It just doent feel right ?
not too impressed so far but hopefully other goodies would make up for it ... perhaps make it 90% die cast metal ?

Voltes is starting to really come together. I know that it will probably be a fiddly little SOB but I don't care since my SOC's act like articulated statues anyways. Besides it's Voltes, considering that the last combining Voltes came out 20+ years ago I'm getting this no matter what.

Oh, don't get me wrong; I'll have the damn thing pre-ordered faster than you can say, "credit card". What gets me is that in every other case: the Getters, Gaiking, Grendaizer, all the Mazingers, and even the Daikumaryu, the SOC version is bigger, heavier, better detailed, more finely sculpted, and just hands down cooler than the old Popy toys. Why they didn't go the extra mile in size and weight on the combiners just mystifies me. JWM

You made my day!!! ;D ;D ;D I was wondering how they would make the head pivot... I think I can see the workings... There is a hinge on the base of that triangular flap at the top of the crewzer... More pictures please...

JWM I think it's mostly due to cost, I'm sure Bandai could have made a bigger version with even more diecast but I think the cost of production, shipping, ect would be to high. It's not like Bandai couldn't make a large toy with a huge box (GX-13), but I doubt we'll ever get a figure that large with packaging that big again. Also the size of Com-Battler dictated the size of Voltes so if they made Voltes larger they would have to re-engineer Com-Battler too and the cost of development for two figures was probably not worth it for Bandai if sales where limited for a GX-03R. Besides the Japanese seem too like tiny figures or figures that won't take up too much space in their smaller houses.

If it were up to me to make impressive SOC combiners,I would rather put them in a different line than the SOC line. Sure SOC versions are better than their Popy counterparts, but the combiners,eh,not a lot of people are impressed with them(GX-03 and GX-23,with the exception of GX-13). If I were to make combiner SOCs bigger than their Popy counterparts,my line for them would be called "Chogokin Legends". They'll be a little bigger than their Popy counterparts, including the standard SOC designs like anime accuracy, posability, and accessories. So what do you think of my CL idea?

I think you should work for marketing, is what I think. I confess, I hate the SOC combiners. Too small, too little poseability. Personally, I would love to just have 2 foot tall all-plastic combiners, with super-clicky joints.

Wait a second I thought the spelling for Voltes V was "Voltes",not Vultus. And if it was Vultus, any Nihonjin who comes here might mispronounce it Vooltoos. And second,BANDAI should pack in more gimmicks in their SOC combiners(and finally they did with GX-30,in my opinion). I mean look at the Chogokin Denji Gattai Combattler V. It was only like 5-6 inches, yet it still has a ton of gimmicks such as shooting missiles, freewheeling, etc. much more than GX-03 and it manages to become an exact smaller copy of its older POPY cp. That's why BANDAI should rework on their GX-03. BANDAI if you're reading this:All I'm(We're) saying is pack more gimmicks with GX-03,not go all out on missile launching. Put in a variety of gimmicks and fix flaws is all that I'm(we've, I speak for everyone, the fans) asking for. Look at GX-03,it only has one gimmick compared to GX-30 and DGCCV both who has like a ton of gimmicks(GX-30 aside from the missiles of course).

Choudenji Machine Voltes V (Japan 1977). Voltus V (Indonesia 1983). Original Japanese with Indonesian subtitle. I believe Indonesia was the only country outside Japan where the anime was officially released without dubbing. All other countries I believe, had the anime dubbed in the local language. Good for me since I don't like dubbed movies.

They might be fragile and may not pack as many gimmicks as their older counterparts, but they're anime accurate, posable, glossy, and displayable. Plus they're supposed to be collectors items, not kids' toys. Also I like small things and the size for these combiners is just right.
