Also, the Volt Panzer looks like an improved GX-03 Battle Tank as it has articulated claws(and they're jointed!!).

I hope that Volt Bomber will have landing gears. I can't see any in the prototype.

I'm going out OT for a minute...
At the risk of getting royally flamed:
I broke out the eBay DVD specials yesterday...
Outside of the childhood nostalgia...um, maybe ah after watching a few episodes, other than mechanically it is a cool show and of course Megumi/Jaime is hot, but outside of that there really is nothing very special that really makes Voltes V a cut above. Hold on, before you guys issue a "Fatma" on me , think of this as you watch the episodes, "If I never saw this as a kid, how would I think of the quality of the story, dialogue, plot etc...
Of course, since this does have a nostalgic element to it for me i can bear the bad voice acting, dialogue and predictable and often times dull plot. But that goes for most mediocre/average anime.

I agree that Anime from 20+ years ago can't match the quality and depth of todays stuff, but I'm watching Com-Battler now and I love it. I think it has mostly to do with it being simple and just a fun ride plus not having seen the series everything is all new, but on the other hand I watc Gaiking, Getter Robo G, and Grendizer all the time even after I've seen each episode atleast ten times.
I guess it's both a nostalgia fix and something new at the same time for me.

It is like the day I discovered "Stella" the Atari 2600 emulator for the PC. I had evey 2600 game I owned back in the 80's and some that I evaluated...anyway, not the same to say the least. I think for many of us it is all about the nostalgia factor. You know the saying, "you can not go home again"? I feel it. ;D

I think besides the nostalgia factor which plays a huge part of watching the anime over and over again, the simplicity of the "drawing," the direct "drama" story line, the "cheesines" of some stuff makes it a classic-apart from the rest. Just like for example, recently I watched several episodes of Evangelion, and I was just lost-totally lost by the depth of the character and the story. I guess it helps if you watch the series at the beginning. Another example is the new Getter series (the one whith them shouting REOMA over and over again)-it was a total waste of my time.

Exactly Lawclan, I also believe that the Anime has a factor in how much you like the figure/toy. I know that there are collectors who hate the shows but love the toys, I believe they love the toy as itself while others love the characture and it transfers over to the toy.
You should start a thread since this one is starting to get off topic.

I agree with Chen. Most of the time the toy draws me in to the anime. My examples are Dougram, Votoms. Only with Macross was it the other way around. Of course there is Initial D where the toys/figures/merchandising was so over done that it was hideous! ;D

I wonder if Bandai is aware that what they currently building, GX-30 or Voltes V is the most anticipated, considered by most to be the Holy Grail or a Holy Grail addition to the toy line or Do you think Bandai is simply adding yet another legendary Gokin to their toy line...

Bandai has stated that they know that Voltes along with Daimos and Raideen are THE most anticipated SOC's people want made. But Bandai is also a company that needs to make money so they know you can't always give what the customer wants, you need them to keep coming back and I think they have done a good job. What other diecast toyline has 28 different models not including all colour and re-engineered varients.

Dunno about you guys, but VV is not one of my Holy Grails.
Grendizer was one, the Getter Robo G set was another. The one I really want to see now is Danguard Ace. Too bad, he has license issues.
Voltes is a welcome surpirse though, and even if he isn't one of my most anticipated SOC's, he's definitely got that nostalgic look and feel, and that I am compelled to buy him. ;D

What other diecast toyline has 28 different models not including all colour and re-engineered varients. Amen to that. That was exactly my point. Bandai is not out building this as the "end all" best engineering, let's give it all we got toy as many have been anticipating it to be. Bandai is building this toy as yet another addition well done, as it has done with all other past additions to the toy line. I understand that the dream a little dream attitude that we collectors all seem to have, however since many of us are anticipating this one and once it's built nothing but a reissue will fix it. Bandai is well aware of the overseas reaction to this toy, but does its domestic market cry for Voltes V? Except to resell to gaijin buyers at top dollar since we crave it so much? Especially with a strengthening USD over the JPY? I know, I will definitely get this adore it, display it and move on. I'm with Omni, I definitely was waiting for this to come out ever since GX-03 showed up, but by no means is it a Holy Grail. I only mentioned that in my last post to prove or emphasize a point that some consider this as the end all...judging by the response that any V5 post or V5 auction on eBay gets it is the the cup of the Holy. But also for those who are counting on Bandai to make this live up to its demand to be ready for quite a shocker. Chen also makes a great point that no other company can match the variety that Bandai has done with the Soul of Chogokin series, absolutely nothing can match up to the amount of robots have been released by a single company at such great quality. Aoshima and others use their "tricky" limited edition color change stuff to get the numbers up, but at the end of the day only SOC will have the variety with the quality we demand or at least it comes close.

With Bandai there is no such thing as "end all be all", that's for sure. This is Bandai, who has kept Gundam coasting along for almost three decades, and these guys will be making SOCs until the cows come home as long as there is even a slight possibility that some eskimo in Greenland wants to buy one. Right now they're doing retro, but who knows what will happen down the road. Modernized classic chogokin, build your own die cast 1:1 scale Godaikins, limited edition Mecha Strawberry Shortcake Stormtroopers of Death..

I agree with that. No other toy company has matched the variety(and quality) of BANDAI's Chogokin Damashii line. BANDAI has one the title before with their old Chogokin line as well with the most variety of chogokins(well Popy did at least).

Yup, there are Eskimos in Greenland, infact although it's called Greenland it's mostly ice and snow where the land called Iceland is actually pretty nice.

Wasn't some kind of folklore (or fact) that Greenland was named such to trick Vikings (or was it pirates) to going there, instead of Iceland, where all the goodies are?
