I got mine today and I love him.
He's not as small as I thought he was - almost 6" tall. All the accessories are fun and interesting. I highly recommend him to anyone sitting on the fence about this "chogokin" - he's damned heavy, let me tell you...
The swap-able eyeballs and magnetic hat accessories are hilarious. The capsule delivery mechanism also works perfectly.
It's a very solid and enjoyable toy.

Enjoyable, for sure!
I got one for my niece this Christmas. It's really a great little piece. I will get one eventually. Yeah, if you're hesitating on Doraemon, fear not. This is one cool cat.

There are two more versions due in 2006...one is known as "Movie Version", the other one is dubbed "reissue version". While the former should have divverent colour, the latter has a totally different shape (should look the same as the toy out in the '70).

Bandai's Chogokin Doraemon is selling for 999 NTD (31 USD) at one toyshop here. That's the lowest price that I've found for this item. (Makes me want to get another one.) Anyway, I wonder if the shop is trying to get rid of his stock because of the upcoming new Doraemon version this year.

roboto: in any case that's a great price. If that shop were in my own town, I'd go and buy another one, since I really love this model.
The new versions will be different (the movie version should have also different capsules) so I wouldn't be disturbed about them. The first version will always be the best one, IMHO.

Yeah, I better get another one for the great price of 999 NTD (31 USD). I can always resell. On the other hand, I'm really having a difficult time catching up with the recent flurry of toy releases. Although I already have a GX-04 Grendizer, I've yet to purchase a GX-04S. Furthermore, I'm behind with GX-19 Getter Liger and GX-20 Poseidon. Furthermore, I've just ordered a Yamato Macross 1/48 scale Hikaru's VF-1S and a Fast/Strike Pack Set. Whew!
