I am currently contemplating on buying this piece. Can anyone provide some insights on this, especially the ones who have it.

Its a gx-01r in gold. It bombed because everyone wanted the color version; but destined to become highly sought after, so grab it while its cheap.

How's the quality on the gold plating?

The quality on the plating is good. Of course you have to handle it with gloves to avoid fingerprints.

I actually have this, and I haven't removed it from the box...I am not sure if I want to sell it...I am not a mazinger fan, but I have it onlybecause it looks cool...

It's gold.
Unlike the GX-06M Chrome Getters, the 01RG does NOT have a hint of contrast on it. It's gold all the way up to where the sun don't shine.

Here's a comparison pic with the Gx01r Gold

You could make one funky mazinger z by swapping parts between the versions. Like, say, a gx-01r with the gold breast fire plates and jet scrander.

for me the biggest issue is that the diecast gold parts look very diferent from the gold plastic parts. the gold i like best is the daigokin!

off topic: i notice this gx-01R has bright blue forearms and legs. mine has a darker blue forearms and legs (gx-01R reissue).

Yeah it's all gold! I feel like it's loosing the details of Mazinger. However, I also feel like getting an award ala Oscars :-)
BTW, where can i get some gloves? What store and in what department?

I just won one on eBay-- $65 shipped! I'm pretty happy. and yes, it's totally giving me Oscar vibes. But it should look pretty awesome next to my black versions, GX-06M, and Neo Getter T&T...

It would be cool if this model has spinners! I don't get the solid (well painted or plated) gold angle to toys...;D

I just got my GX-01RG yesterday. Overall, it's really solid, all of the good points of the GX-01 with none of the bad, and best of all, I got it MISB for a really good price. I'm not *crazy* about the color, but it's still pretty cool. I just wish the GX-01RBs weren't so damn rare and pricey. If Bandai's going to reissue *anything*, it should be a general release of the GX-01RB.
Anyway, I like the black versions better (you're all shocked, I know), but I amused myself by stealing one of Great Maz's swords and making Gold Maz do an "Oscar Statue" pose. ;D

I don't know if RB would be reissued, since it is one of those mail away ones. I myself don't have a need to have one, not a completist, if anything I would get a standard color one, and get the old airbrush out.
