actually, the 420EX is more than enough in terms of GN to use for such shots. the 'power' i said was actually referring to the fact that when the flash fires (it comes on at around 1/9000th to 1/11000th of a second), i can still handhold at low ISO. Yes, I kinda eluded to that. You get that advantage with a momentary system vs a continuos light, you get to hand hold the camera. Or at least get better results hand held than stationary on a tripod.

if u do not have a speedlite, try using continuous lighting and put the camera on a tripod. it will be much better than a direct flash

Is that direct flash? It almost felt like a spot light...I was going to suggest what Lanatir suggested, along with diffusing the continuos light with tracing paper, like Lanatir does, this will spread the light evenly killing harsh contrasts and shadows, unless that's what you are looking to get. Far be it for me to tell you how your picture should look.

Yeah, but that's more like post your pics, not really like a clinic or gathering to improve our photography skills. I know many members are excellent photographers and would be nice to have a depository of photo and photoshop ? hints and tuts to make information easier tto find?
