Buying only what I like is what i do. and if it at some point I dont like it then I sell it. Impluse buying is something that needs to be avoided. it can be hard though. I used to be a completist but not any more. I dont have every single SOC but i do own my fair share. Space definately is an issue since its not the only line I collect. enjoy the hobby for what it is and when you decide that enough is enough. Sell them and move on to some thing else.

1. When you start to get phone calls from collection agencies. 2. When you start to neglect your health, your job, school, spouse, friends, pets in favor of your toy. 3. When you become homeless with nothing but SOC in your shopping cart.

guess what? I am now planning on finally adding the accesories to my SOC's! I never use to display them with my robot because of space issues. But that's not case anymore. I now have plenty of space on my more sparse display cases. I can't wait to fianally incorporate more features to my SOC's. Doing this activty helps me rediscover my robots--they will feel like new again. Heck, this beats me buying more robots that I don't rePly like.

They look like a museum collection instead of a cluttered mess. Careful with the implication that others collections are a mess because of the way they are displayed. I am one of those guys that likes the shelves full with many colors and characters, while I can still appreciate the "museum" style display. Just keep in mind that you may offend some collectors. Not saying that I am offended bro, just making that point. Hey, now that you have streamlined, please share some photos. As I said above, I can appreciate the zen-like style of the museum display with but a single gokin on each shelf. Peace!

Ooopsss. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I kinda liked it when I had a lot of robots per shelf. I just needed a new look. I plan to crowd my shelf one of these days again. As you mentioned, I am just into the Zen-like aesthetics right now.

But you do have a good point. Most of our displays are constantly evolving pieces of work that go through a variety of different modes I'm sure. I go from organized to messy about every six months it seems. To each his own of course!

Yeah, mine has always been "on the brink of madness" when it comes to organization...there's just not enough room to display everything. Even with a bigger room now it's a daunting task to get it looking good (I've already stored about half of the collection and I STILL don't have enough room...) Still I'd MUCH rather store it with the hope of displaying later than sell it off!
I used to be a completist, now I'm MUCH more selective.

I think the difference between a cluttered display and an inspiring one can be razor thin at times. A couple of robots in the right place or a few limbs in just the right pose can transform a shelf from a mess into a masterpiece....and back into a mess again! Still, it's sort of a fun and challenging part of the hobby, (for me at least) and it's probably the destiny of a lot of hardcore collectors--even with a lot of it in storage. So...get good at arranging things.

Yours is well organized But yeah to each is own afterall that's what collecting is all about. Whatever makes you happy

I knew it was too much when I did not even bother to open the boxes after receiving the toys.

I knew it was too much when I did not even bother to open the boxes after receiving the toys. Totally! I start feeling that way to a couple of other lines that I have been collecting. Its pretty much a sign telling you that you just bought it for the sake of collecting, rather than really wanting the toy in the first place.

There's no harm in taking a break from a hobby if you feel that it has taken over your life. Try to keep your hobby as an afterthought and you can extend your enjoyment. Instead of buying 5 SOC in a year, try buying one a year. That way the experience is less common, and more of a special occasion. These toys arent going anywhere, there is no hurry.
