The non-anime fist is hidden in the leg, right? Yup. One more pic. Check out Gaia's face sculpted under Godmarz face plate. Sweetness.

The side by side pics with the old and new versions are awesome! It's amazing how they're engineering the SOC version with dynamic proportions, MUCH better articulation, and alas... no part swapping!
This is gonna be goooooood... ;D

Wow! It amazed me to see the side by side comparison of the transformation and final combined form between SOC and godaikin version
like the original Gaia (red robot) head is visible inside god mars head as well

Now does this make you think that the old toy is junk....or still great? I'm still trying to figure out if the old toy will be more or less desireable. I love my vintage Godmarz

I personally think it has little impact on the vintage version. The old one is still a pretty good design and still command high prices while the new one would only compliment the old one if you have it or appeal to new fans who just want a version of Godmarz.

I think it will affect the price of the popy somewhat. For people such as myself who do not see any benefit of getting the old popy version vs the SOC. Its bigger, better engineered, more articulate than the previous. Why pay $450 + for the old when the new better version [made by the same company] can be had for $200? Of course, there are those who value the "vintage" look above all which may allow for the popy version's price to hold its current price or experience just a minor decline. In this particular case, [as with dancougar's] the newer SOC version is clearly bigger and better. Of course all of this is just my humble opinion

Some impact to the vintage gokin price to drop, but there will still be a crowd of vintage collectors that will go for whatever current price its offering in the second hand market. But for not so hardcore people that just want a Godmarz toy, they'll all steer towards the cheaper, prettier, and better engineered SOC (like myself).

Well the attraction to those old figures is because their old and not perfect. It's like wanting a 69' Camaro, a modern day Honda Fit would probably perform better and is about a hundred times better built but I would still prefer the Camaro. It's like wanting "character" over perfection or having a super hot chick that has a cute scar, it just makes her even hotter IMHO.

...sometimes new is better, but in the vintage studio equipment world, old compressors, processors, mixers, etc perform better than the new stuff.

i think new can be better, not necassarily in the toy aspect but because it can reignite interest in the old shows and possible create a new series, or atleast an OVA, atleast we can hope in some cases.

I really like how the back is so clean without any kibbles and the improved proportion, even if the legs are a little too long IMHO. If the limbs are shaped and colored similarly, you probably wouldn't be able to tell that God Marz is made from combination of 6 (well 5, since Gaia goes inside Sphinx) individual bots.
You can really tell that toy engineering has progressed so far when comparing the original and the new one, but surprisingly, the size and proportion of both Sphinxes are very similar.
Does anybody knows how much the original version weighs? That way, we may compare the tentative metal contents of the new one which supposedly weighs 1.1kg.

Well, since I have the old Popy version of God Marz, maybe I will pass the chance to buy this baby, though the articulation and It's proportion looks soooo tempting . Yes, Popy version looks blocky and cumbersome, but I still believe it's weight and the diecast contents are long to be beaten by his upcoming SOC brother. I'll keep my money for something much impressive such as ....who knows....classic JEEG maybe ;D (OPTIMISTIC MODE : ON)
