That review was almost too gushing. I'm sure it's a great toy, but I doubt it's 30 minutes of hyperbole great. Don't get me wrong, I don't even like the CM's version that much, but it's definitely got the Toynami beat for surface detail, poseability, and accuracy, regardless of what they might say. The molded and scribed detail on the CM's versions is almost painfully sharp looking. Too bad the CM's Legioss and Tread fighter modes are so fiddly and useless together. Hah! An ideal display would have CM's set in robot mode with the more impressive Toynami combination on display in fighter mode. That'd be a winner. An expensive winner, but it seems in the war of Mospeada toys, everyone is a loser ;P Side note: I find it interesting that the Red Alpha that Josh was so quick to toss around, rage about, and rip pieces off of in the CM's review has miraculously recovered for this review . I think CDX is high on new-toy smell

Well it's just one review and IMHO if you know what Josh likes in toys then you know he will like the MP Beta. I did find that he did gloss over the fact that the Alphas were pure crap and most people are buying a Beta to hook up with a Alpha. But considering how the Alpha was such a disaster Toynami had no choice but to make a really good Beta or pretty much get lambasted. Do I think the Beta is at SOC standards, I have no idea since I don't own one but considering it took how long for it to come out and the transformation design is very simple it should be a very solid piece.

As far as I'm concerned Toynami has no choice but to make a new Alpha. Recast it in plastic and release it outside of the Masterpice line like they did with the all plastic Voltron. It's completely retarded to have a fantastic Beta toy and a garbage heap Alpha toy. That's like towing around a brand new million-dollar mobile home with a an old rusted out 1984 Chevy Silverado that has one door, broken windows and three tires.

I believe you are absolutely correct mate! Not re engineering or remaking the Alpha and making it GOOD would just be the stupidest idea EVER! ;D

TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS.... MW member Sam developed this connecting boom for the CMs Legioss/Tread. I do not believe he has decided to make this for mass production...but if he ever did I am certain it would sell sell sell. It looks FANTASTIC! I think the last pic is of another members boom design but it is the sh*t as well. ;D

It looks like Aoshima will be releasing their own version of the Beta so that solves one problem about getting a Alpha, to bad Aoshima's Alpha's are suppose to be worse than Toynami's.

I have handled an Aoshima and a Toynami. I am VERY disappointed with both of their Alphas. VERY DISAPPOINTED! The CMs on the other hand.....feels like heaven in your hands.

I don't know, the news of an Aoshima Tlead/Beta to match their Alpha/Legioss is more like bad news. Why? Because it will encourage more people to buy the Aoshima Legioss, and that will only lead to a lot of sadness and disappointment. Since Aoshima made the Tlead/Beta and did such a good job on it, they should make a new Legioss/Alpha from scratch, too.

Well this is good news for me since I prefer the brighter colours of the Aoshima Legioss and the extra missiles and stuff. But it's a crap shoot if you get a half decent one or not.

I agree with you on the colors, I like the Aoshima colors better than the MP, which is probably why I really like the super-bright colors on the CMs, too. Did you get a decent Aoshima Legioss? I know there are a few out there but I rarely hear about them.

I don't think I have ever heard of any decent Aoshimas out there. Strange. Well....it won't change my mind on getting one. Not at all.

According to robotech.com, the red beta is now shipping. I find it funny overall as they call it the "rare prototype" I thought The Sentinels wasn't supposed to count anymore.

So does anybody know if Toynami will retool / re-release the Alpha? I'm still debating about whether to get the CM's version or the Toynami version.......
Angolz still has the red version of legioss and tread for $110 only, although i'd really much prefer the blue one.......any idea where to score one at similar price points?
man these are tough decisions.....

Just saw this from collectiondx.com, from JoshB posted today. "From the Toynami side of things they had the new Robotech Cyclone, which looks great, and is shipping now. All of the Beta fighters are on display and George said that the factory that did the Beta Fighters now have all the molds for the Alpha, and will tooling them from here on in. There is a possibility that we will see all plastic giftsets that include an alpha and beta in matching colors." According to this, maybe Toynami will retool the alphas afterall? www.collectiondx.com/article/nytf09_toynami_bandai_tamashii

For those with the Betas looking for a decent Alpha to dock with, the hope remains for a standalone, re-tooled Alpha. Fingers crossed!
