I am so glad that Baikanfu won. I was concerned there for a while. I would have been really disappointed if Ideon won. The majority has superior taste! We still have a few days of voting, but yeah you are right about Baikanfu winning. Being 12 votes ahead pretty much seals the win.

It would be nice if Great would take second place and then Ideon third. The rest, I don't care

Honestly, I thought that there would be thousands of folks voting. This proves that we are truly interested in a niche market. Or I falsely assumed that everyone is interested in what we are into

Well, it's Saturday morning here on the west coast. I'm missing the par-tay in Florida. ' But I might go out to Frank & Son, and maybe snag a Baikanfu if I can find one. Or maybe Irongear... JWM

Honestly, I thought that there would be thousands of folks voting. This proves that we are truly interested in a niche market. Or I falsely assumed that everyone is interested in what we are into You have to consider that a majority of lurkers don't vote. Lurkers in general don't get involved on any level. My guess is that there are probably a few hundred part-timers that check in maybe once a month or so just to see what's new in the marketplace, but they aren't active hardcore collectors like we are. TOTY votes in the past have only received about around a hundred votes on average, even over at ToyboxDX I remember figuring out their percentages and it was less than a hundred votes. Now CollectionDX gets more votes because Josh is actively pushing his site on a much more commercial level with a broader range of toys and minutia, so his traffic is voting is going to be higher, but probably less selective or critical about their hobby.

Good point, Xiombarg. We have over 3500 people on the membership role, but only a few dozen regular posters at any given time. And there are some who are here only for Gundam, Transformers, or Macross. I scored a Baikanfu this morning at Frank & Son for $190. I opened it up and checked all the parts- no paint problems on the small figures (hooray!). But I'm waiting until tomorrow to mess with it, since it's going to rain all day anyway. I'll also have a F&S post up with a whole bunch of pictures.

Just taking a moment away from chills and fever (not the fun kind- I've got the flu really bad ) I'm looking at Baikanfu on the desk. What a great toy this is! This has to be the finest piece of toy engineering I've ever seen. Plus, it's a kick ass design, A most deserving winner for TOTY. JWM

The TOTY 2007 is now officially over! Baikanfu was our big winner as the robot of choice, and rightly so, being a high quality, awesome looking, really fun robot. I'm going to leave this post as is for now, but stay tooned for an upcoming write up..or really if any of you feel like elaborating on this years TOTY, or robot figures in 2007 in general, by all mean elaborate.

I must admit that I was going to pass on Baikanfu. I am glad I did not. So, Baikanfu gets crowned as king of expensive toy of 2007.
