If they ever release this on streaming service (since I know the plot having watched the anime series), I'm just going to fast forward through to the CG robot sequences. 80 episodes is just too much. With the new version of the Voltes V theme, they could have made a TV size length (same as the original) for the Volt in sequence - but that's just me Prior to screening this on national TV, they showed it on local cinemas. Not sure about the plot of the movie but more or less it could be the entire synopsis of the entire 80 part episodes. Looking forward to watch that movie version.

Yes the network really milk out this series to 80 episodes. A lot of backstory and cliffhanging episodes especially on the first battle of Voltes V and the 1st Beast Fighter Dokugaga whom was in no relationship whit Lady Gaga. Lol. I could understand why they have to drag the original 40 episodes anime to to 80. First of it was a daily telenovela soap opera genre on TV. Its free to air in local Philippine channel so they have to make a hell lot of money on the advertisement that will sponsor the show. Its brutal to watch the commercials specially if your used to binge watch series on Netflix or similar. Probably best to wait air it on Netflix to binge watch it to avoid the hassle of commercials. Second reason was they cast a lot of famous celebrity including the ever gorgeous Karla Avellana, mother of the Armstrong brothers. It would be a drag to see her get killed on the 2nd episode of the anime so the writers have to find a way to prolong her character in the series. I agree that the CGI are pretty much a home run but acting wise, its like a watching an 80s Sentai show which was far more better IMO. Someone noticed that there might be a hint that one of the pilot might have the chance or tendency to become a Broke Back mountain character. Probably because Mark Gordon was a cowboy like character in the anime and thus the writer decided to concluded that cowboys + Broke Back Mountain = a LGBTQRSTUV kinda thing, you know something to please the woke fans. Which remind me of the Voltron Netflix ending which disgruntled most of the Voltron fans. I hope Voltes V doesnt turned out to be the same faith the Voltron Netflix ended. Otherwise it will a horrible nightmares to OG Voltes V fans. To sum up I have been watching it on and off. I am still hoping that future episodes will turned out at least OK but judging the slowness phase it will be uphill torture for me to watch the entirety of the series.

I have the first version, bought the MS-02B (black) and skipped the 2.0 for the 2023 release. Very nice figure. More weight, goog articulations. Some articulations designs are small and break a bit the bulky shape but hey, it transforms I would say it is more anime bllocky style (Magic Square has tendencies to bulk the silhouettes) versus MP-44 which is Convoy design canon/chart. At first i like the MP44 but after watching several comparisons videos I realize that MP44 was lacking behind the MP Prime genre. But still a nice figure but has a lot of flaws that can be improve.

Well there you go, so Bandai officially made it as a DX but eventually change it to a GX. They basically downgrade Gaiking! Bandai probably shot their own feet on this! The fact that Daikuu Maryuu was announced as DX and released as GX means very little, if anything. People seem to think it implies widespread corporate incompetence at Bandai, but it doesn't imply anything. Nothing about GX-100 screams DX, or even suggests DX. The scale is GX, the features are identical to any other SOC D.C. figure, and the quality is not higher or lower than a typical GX. The finished product of GX-100 doesn't suggest a DX design with the corners cut off to make a GX. It's just a typically excellent GX from top to bottom. Its size doesn't make it DX material. It's large because that's the scale of the line, and they'd already made a mini version which would never really satisfy the market. Bandai went for the holy grail, knowing that no one else could do it, or should do it, and they hit a home run. They got a lot of people to buy an $800 toy with $200 option parts, and they'll sell even more at $500. I hope they put a statue of Ken (the sr. product manager and infomercial pitchman) in the lobby next to Mazinger-Z. Perhaps Bandai early-pitched it as DX so they could preview it without spilling the beans on GX-100. That is what I like to think. No one is claiming incompetence, that is far fetched. But bottom line is GX-100 is now on the discount bin. It hurts when you bought it a premium then later on learn that its gonna be discounted. It is what it is, Its business, sometimes you do good sometimes not so good.

Given that my first popy toy was a GA-50 Daiku, I would be slightly biased. But, I honestly believe that if the GX-100 was changed to a dx series, the dx collectors will purchase them more so than a gx series. The reality is that much of the GX chogokin series has kind of dropped off in terms of quality. From the beginning til now, you can even tell the plastic has cheapened out as well. Thats why if it was a DX, it would have better shot at keeping its value in the long term. highly agree with you on the cheapness in some releases, what is super annoying is that TWE sets are all plastic for example GX-97X is all plastic while it should be at least some diecast part
No doubt it will sell and Gaiking fans will buy it. But will it sell like hotcakes? However It was rumored to be a DX and later change to GX-100, did Bandai got cold feet on the market? Why all of a sudden did Bandai change the branding to a mere GX from DX given the ginormous size of GX 100 Gaiking? What's up with the price reduction? Again its all about fanbase, if Gaiking was indeed that popular then the sales will speak for itself. If it sold much then price will most likely go up than discounted. its wasn't rumored as a DX, it was on display as a DX, i still remember Bandai's announcement it was "the reveal of two DX SOC"
i think they change it because of the scale
but i do agree with you not alot of people are hard core fans for Gaiking + its not a DX (limited run item)

Grendizer is a funny case, as it seems far more popular outside of Japan than within Japan. Actually same with Voltes V, it is far more popular outside Japan. Voltes V is the national super robot in the Philippines and Filipinos worldwide

IMO even if Bandai labeled Gaiking as a DX, doubt it will sell more. Its all about fanbase, Mazinger and Voltes V are the two most sold Bandai Robots in the Chogokin history.

I just went to Frank&Sons last weekend.... Some of the places are asking the moon for chogokin items. Cant blame them because they have to pay Frank and his sons for the rent... lol probably much cheaper to get chogokin online.

This is so cute but most of the new Voltron release I saw have the legs gimmicks are tuck and clean. but for this size i think its ok but that will be a plus factor.

Did 3zero fix the shoulder not locking into place on this Voltron? In this video review by Ultrazilla, he addresses that the shoulder/arm issue has been corrected. (I set the video mark pre-forwarded to the part where he discloses it.) Thanks @24:35 in the video he spoke about the shoulders.
