Gold. Many thanks to your reviews for this fig that (and its many versions) that I managed to snag one. Wished it was the SoC Bandai but too pricey for my wallet (should have gotten it back then but I had to get the Arcadia SDF1 DYRL version )

I'm so happy (nearly 3 months overdue from my birthday) 'cause I snagged a pre owned class B(store rating) from Japan a CMS25 ver2 Gaogaigar for US$ 50.00. I kid you not. $50.00 with nothing broken or anything. Now I need is a CMS Goldymarg.
Also PotP Predaking, CMS Mugen Calibur deluxe edition with armor ($50.00 with the fillers not applied) and long searched Alternity Cliff.

I want to raise an issue for UM. Not that he was actually a bad leader, it's just it really sucked to be him after what I heard Flint Dille commented in the 2006 DVD remaster of the 1986 Movie. About Dille's comments, I'll get to it after this back ground. In Diaclone, the toy was a step ahead from the original Battle Convoy. A power suit upgrade + a full transfomable scout car and a "flying" chest armor/jet. Not really sure what Hasbro was planning for him but I found an alternative battle scene in Transformers Generations (1st edition)albeit a very small one on what appeared to be G1-Megatron fighting a Diaclone colored UM.I found a bigger picture of the scene in "Pia" It seems that prior to the 1986 Movie (even early ads of the Movie showed UM in these colors)Hasbro might have been planning for Op to become UM. Speculation on my part people. You can see in the scene the core robot actually transforming into him. This scene never appeared again in the toy box battle scene. In fact, only the Takara box/package battle scene showed both the white core robot and the UM armor separately in the scene (the background of the scene seems to be Earth with Metroplex in full robot mode in the right and Dinosaurer in dino mode on the left) So back to UM and Flint Dille's comments. Maybe old news for you guys but then again, whoever listens to the commentary track of the DVDS anyway? In the scene of transition, Optimus was turning over the Matrix to UM. Then comes a scene where we see (I thought it was an error in animation) where UM actually puts the Matrix into his chest twice or readjusts its fit. Well Dille commented that the "error" was more or less intentional or the scene's animation didn't convey the omen of things to come. The Matrix was never meant for UM #-o Sucks to be UM no? All this time, the story was supposed to build up into Hotrod's taking over the reigns of command. So all this "I can't deal with this " lines really was a put down on the current transitional holder of the Matrix..........which translated into the toy not having one. In the UK stories, UM really did give a lot of hurt to the 'cons, especially Galvatron in that time travel plotline of Furman but in DW War Wihin, UM was a wuss. Jeez....poor guy. IDw, well that's a really different animal. Maybe the saving grace for UMis this MP figure............a very well constructed MP over the atrocious MP-09.

Official licensed Ocean MP Soundwave decals a nd how it works out. The decals are both satisfying and frustrating. The picture guide that came initially with the first edition release were somewhat helpful. but the set I got was a bit of a touch and go quality that I was forced to buy a second set. Tape timer and "eject". For those who own the hasbro version, the decal sheet comes with red "Destron" optics. The most frustratting decals to apply. The red and yellow patterns were :BOOM: to attach. Record and stop Another frustrating piece. my first set got torn because it won't properly peel off This part also has the red yellow yellow patterns only. I added the black highlights from my scrap decals. So Soundwave was a SONY product ? I wonder if SONY knows about this? The "stereo microcassette recorder" comes in white and black fonts "Walkman" and Dolby Sound fonts Volume and speed control AC in. On the opposite foor, you have an earphone jack symbol Other Walk Man features The set also comes with white font Destron decals, two of which small enough for Lazerbeak and Buzzsaw's head (unfortunately I'm having a hard time magnifying the shots) One weird thing is the set has some extra "details" which I don't know where to fit in.

[/img] Full body shot without boosterSuper weapon combination Review: Both 30th Anniversary and Legends JetmodeJet is a mix of the original Macross Valkyrie Skull Leader ( F-14A Tomcat and what looks like an F-22 Raptor) so no Harmony Gold nuisance suit. But unlike the Valkyrie which makes use both legs as the main booster, the transformation makes use of the arms as the former similar to this: Yup, another “Robotech” jet aka the Legios or Alpha fighter. The Twin booster or “fastpack”, another staple of the Macross homage is included, though not armed like the previous henkei/classic release. It can be rotated 360 degrees during the transform sequence. It can be detached without affecting the jet’s appearance. You can attach the fore arm guns on them but not the photon missile rifle. The jet also implements a moving swing wing design during his “super sonic” sorties The battle mask can be attach to the head or removed during jet mode. Kind of miss how Kawamori Shoji of Macross fame also allowed the lowered head to serve as a secondary weapon which is absent here. He’s got a retractable front landing gear and 2 permanently exposed wheels on his legs (kind of sucks that Tomy/Hasbro couldn’t retract those) His cockpit and nosecone are quite detailed. The former can carries two pilot chairs while the latter has what appears to be a twin-machine gun for aerial dogfights. A good nod to his animation model, the faux cockpit is quite obvious like this shot during his “gerwalk” mode I didn’t attempt to do a gerwalk btw. Robot modeHere is where the mold shines and kind of fails. Unlike his blocky animation model, Jetfire is more of a well-built slim structure in analogy to a human over an uber buffed body builder. The body builder physique maybe Hasbro’s attempt back in the 80s to get around any issues with Takara and Bandai. All the tiny details you would see in “Skyfire” animation model is present save for the faux cockpit and the verrrrrrrrrrry different back pack. The robot form is very stable despite the booster though it’s placement (the booster) kind of disproportionally aligned when you rotate it 360 over the Macross and henkei design which towers just right. In both jet and robot, a lot of mech details in the molding. The bellyaching This IS not technically the Skyfire we all have been waiting for. The closest would be the clunker 3rd party Daca Cronos. A close representation to tide us over until hopefully an MP version is released. The sucky part of the mold are the glaring hollow parts on his arms and thighs. The thighs are forgivable given his transform style but the arms really are distracting. Another thing, the hollowed parts on the swing wings….uggh! Chrome on the arms and leg canons………..mine got a wee scratched because of the rubber band packaging Other than that, he is one of the best releases for 2014. This makes him more of a Macross “lite”. In both cost and features hehehe Tomy and Hasbro versionDifference between Tomy and Hasbro? Tomy is slightly whiter and the red patches darker. Armor has black highlights And the cost too. In short, Tomy version looks like the art on the box sans the chrome of the Hasbro version. Chest has more detailing and the Autobot sigil has white highlights. And the Hasbro version has oodles and oodles of chrome On a scale of 1 to 5, if those hallowed arms weren’t present, a 5 out of 5. With those gaps, 4 out of 5. [/div] Edit: I failed to mention one concern, that plastic strut that holds his cockpit, though tough, I wish it was die-cast or something harder. One wrong turn and it's kaput........broken!.

Wished I had the original, but the 2ndary market is simply out of this world. The closest would be the CM Mugen Calibur but the opportunity always escapes me.....that and the color, wished it came with the RB colors. In the original Dorvack series, he comes as a futuristic all terrain human controlled transformable biped mech. Then Hasbro bought some of the molds from Bandai and recolored him. Simon Furman did the rest in the UK series. Art Storm recently released the non transformable version (more like a die-cast action master) so I'll be using that as a reference comparison between the two. G1 Roadbuster Detailing: So "Jarhead" militaristic. If RB was a human, I view him as one of the US Marine/Seals/Deltaforce all rolled into one. BFG! (from the original) Roadbuster 30th anniversary verion Package (IDW artwork using Guido Guidi's AHM designs) The figure/vehicle/guns , decal sheet ( nostalgia from the Dorvack series) and manual) Transform mode (reminds me of a more Terran based "Warthog") Modern version of the BFG (more modular combination) Warrior mode:(Some of the lighting has sort off made the Autobot sigil invisible (he comes with a blue Wrecker sigil too) Armed full body shot (see the "back pack?) Materials: ABS PVC. Excellent molding. Reminds me of G1 1980s quality. Smooth and glossy. Thick layers of paint Transformation: Simple yet intelligent Poseability: Limited head rotation (good enough but not total 360) Ratcheted shoulders, double jointed elbows Limitation: Rifle handle too short (similar to the G1 Optimus gun syndrome) Static wrist joints No hip swivel Can't do the stand on one leg pose Feedback: Great modern update of a kick @ss mold. Whereas the original design was blocky, this one reminds me of a more proportional Jarhead "Gelgog" (from his head and his shins). I was previously concerned with his shins looking hollow/spindly but the fold in of his treads perfectly deals with this issue. Also, you can adjust his feet pushing it inside so it won't stick out too much (giving it a less of a Daffy duck webbing look). This does not affect his standing stability. He is quite detailed and has a lot of peg holes where you can attach his weapons. Also surprised that he comes with a functional eye poking missile (thank you Hasbro lol!). Another thing that gives this fig the edge......ze PRICE! Prior to his release, I was contemplating in getting the FP version (this one, the official cost 1/10th of the 3rd party version). Also, Tomy is also releasing him (sans the decals from initial descriptions). Speaking of the decals, Hasbro should have had used more white contrasting fonts because the black tends to be absorbed by the dark green and brown paint apps. but it was quite enjoyable to stick them to the fig.....shades of G1 again. Far from a perfect figure, it does not break the ceiling when it comes to designs but fills up the void a lot of fans of the Furman stories ave long prayed for. I give him, on a scale of 1 to 5, 4.6

Where I'm stationed, EMS DOES NOT deliver to your doorstep. We have to go to the Airport hub in order to claim the item. You already get shafted by the customs charges and also pay for the additional transport cost. Avoid it like the plague!

Size freakin' matters and this bruiser is BIG! Have trouble getting a decent pic because my room lacks the distance to get a full city shot of him (hence I'm using a single stock photo from amiami for it) This by far is one of my hard to do review because I just can't prioritize which to focus because just like the G1 Fortmax.........oozes with awesomeness (I love you Hasbro and Tomy!) Contents: 1 Metroplex 1 mechanical arm 2 antimatter projectors/battleships/ 2 missiles 1 Scamper 1 Scamper weapon 2 antenna/tower 1 decal sheet 1 instruction sheet Background:Since I am using the Tomy version, the retcon for him is that he IS still the same Metroplex from the G1 series. Based on the storyline of Yuki Ohshima Metrowars ( occurs along the timeline Zone/ROC/OC ), Metrotitan was not "reprogrammed" but joined the 'cons to fight his brother(?) 'plex. Both sides got their @sses whooped. Even Metrobase was not spared. The Nebulans, repaired 'plex into twice his size (maybe the reason why Sixgun and Slammer weren't included (they must have been permanently deactivated)). In the end, 'plex whooped Metrotitan's behind (he vowed to take revenge again) Details:ManualCitymodeCarrier mobile fortressBFG!ScamperMetroplex himselfFeedback:
Big,big, big! Lots of paint apps to recreate the G1 figure's appearance. He's got a chromed face (great mechanical outlines) but not his thighs. Head rotates 360 degrees and has an electronic voice gimmick (voice from the FOC game), the eyes light up like that of a Gundam DOM effect when you twist the head left to right plus his chest flashes too). You can recreate his Japan (Scramble City) and American appearance (Visor on or off)but the gimmick is kind of loopy because the visor won't stay up.Also, his head now becomes a control console of sort when in "rolling thunder moder". Lots of articulation though his "sausage" fingers have their limits in grasping his two anti-matter projectors (that also look like battle ships). The Tomy version comes with 2 btw.It also fires two missiles (gray color). Unlike the G1 toy, you just fold up his hands so no clutter (except for the two antennae like things) Also noticed that the hips/legs has a 45 degree limit when you spread it......I didn't push my luck. In city mode, his got the usual features of a helipad and repair bays. Remember the battle scene by Mangiat on an alien planet? (You can sort of create the part where you launch Scamper). Speaking of which, there IS no launching mechanism for the garage that holds Scamper unlike the G1 toy. Scamper's updated look is snazzy! Replicating the "KITT" look except he's got six wheels. He is articulated (though limited) and comes with a gun. His other alternate mode is like that of a mobile flatbed carrier of sorts. A dexterous mechanical arm accessory is attached to the left part of what is his leg. Did a mention he's got tons of decals? The Tomy version is metallic btw unlike the International version. Playability: Goes well with a lot of Legends class figs. Transform method: A bit of variation from the original G1 toy. What to watch out for: 1. battery leaks 2. those 2 tabs that align his lower legs 3. supposedly some versions have wobbly knees The bad (not necessarily b.a.d. lol!): 1. So big, like Fortmax, I don't know where to put him in storage 2. The plastic feels less solid than Fortmax 3. The leg alignment formation, the tabs that align it is thin/flimsy) 4. Canadian version has no English voice clips 5. Can't a decent shot because he's soooooooooo big Scale of 1 to 5, I give him 4.8 (because of the no chrome on his thigh hahaha) Hopefully, Tomy/Hasbro makes a follow up to their Titan class..........well, maybe an Encore Scorponok (pretty please?)
