From the photos, I can’t tell how much different this version is from the 2018 SOC/Figuarts version. I see there is a new cloth cape, extra hands, electroplated gold details, and a break in the skirt but, other than those details, I can’t tell if the articulation is any better or if they added any die cast. I’m currently thinking this might just be a slightly retooled version of the previously released statue. You can't really retool a statue into a figure, that's just making a new toy entirely. Right. When I refer to the previously released version as a statue, I’m exaggerating for effect. The figure was not entirely static but it certainly wasn’t fully articulated either. My point being, a lot of fans (myself included) have been looking forward to a fully articulated diecast SOC Ankoku Daishogun figure and, unfortunately, I don’t think that this pending release is it.

Man, Pose+ really do a nice job. Their technical detailing seems almost more adventurous and refined than even Bandai’s. I presume licensing constraints initially relegated them to realizing these less popular characters but they’re actually filling an obvious gap in the collectors’ market as a result. Nice scale to these figures as well. Very excited for Baldios.

Nice review, man - and thanks for posting so many comparison pictures. It’s hard to tell but it appears as if the only sculptural change is in the head (eyes, brow, and cockpit). I’m sad to hear the color-way doesn’t satisfy your expectations but, in defense of the designers’ thoughts, I’m happy to see a reissue more closely aligned with the original GX-08 paint job. I foolishly ignored the original release at the time but I did, sheepishly and subsequently, pick up the metallic 40th anniversary edition. In my opinion, all of the SOC Aphrodai releases have comparable, excellent sculpting but the original GX-08 and this latest GX-08r have the best visual shelf presence and coloring.

Pure speculation here but I suspect these are going to be in scale with standard Getter SOC - 6 to 8 inches, typ. Pose+ releases to date have been SOC DX scale, generally. I’m willing to bet this new line is more accessible and cost manageable for the specialty collector. That said, I also project that they might release the Getter trio in a single package for $300+. Either way, I’m already on the hook for all of them. No questions.

Awesome! From the looks of the prototypes, it appears these are the Getter G trio from Armageddon. Very excited for these.

Yeah, the Pose+ GoShogun is an awesome representation of the character. The first (and second) issues are intended to be the anime accurate colors with metallic embellishments. This special/exclusive third issuance appears to be an homage to the 1981 Takatoku DX colorway.

I received another Change of Release Date email from Amiami for Pose+ Baldios a few minutes ago. Being delayed to August 2023 now. Will be interesting to see if Pose+'s Braiger is released on schedule this month. I just received shipping request from Anime Export regarding my Braiger preorder. So, presumably, it is now available - FYI.

Don’t give up hope. Action Toys was teasing relatively production ready prototypes of the Starzinger ships for years prior to their miraculous and official preorder announcement last year. Granted, we haven’t received the actual product yet but the release would finally appear to be imminent. Fingers crossed for both Starzinger and Albegas…

I believe Admin 1 (Ed) and Greengetterguy are two different entities, unless I’m mistaken. Not trying to make trouble but just to clarify.

What do you guys think about this GL Sentinel version versus the pending Bandai SOC release? I know we don’t have an SOC copy yet to make a fair comparison but do you expect that the SOC will be better or worse than this one? Based on the preliminary reviews and photos, I think this Sentinel model is amazing but, knowing that Bandai’s version is imminent, maybe we should wait to see what the SoC is all about? I have the Konami version, which was the greatest representation of GL until now. Ughh. What version/release are you all going to choose?

For what it’s worth, it’s not unusual for BBTS to adjust their prices down closer to the actual release. I don’t know why they do this but I recall BBTS dramatically over estimating the price of pre-order SOC’s in the past only to drop them by, like, $100 a month later and before the product is available. Regardless, as mentioned before, the yen is weak against the dollar right now and it can yield some real savings to buy directly from Japan in some instances. I’ve been getting some awesome exchange rate deals buying vintage from Mandarake over the past few months.

I dunno. Mazinger Z is so iconic that the market will likely bear endless iterations and reiterations of the character. We don’t have to buy them all but it’s clearly evident that the fan base wants slightly and/or significantly updated versions of the same character and will continue paying for them. At this point in my collecting career, like a lot of you guys, I’ve got dozens of copies of Mazinger from a variety of manufacturers. I’m personally pretty happy with GX-70. I might skip this one. But, then again, and the more I think about it, I might not. Damn you, Bandai.

It’s a cool idea but the head sculpt is wrong. The eye sockets are too large (rounded on top), the brow isn’t heavy enough, and the mouth is upturned at the ends. See Garada SOC. If they tuned the face up, I’d be in.

Bandai still has a better sculpt (particularly in the face) but the upsize of the King Arts is a welcome opportunity.

It’s a really fun piece. Really fun. Evolution Toys has been a little hit or miss for me in the past but this Daikengo has something that I haven’t experienced in a modern Gokin toy. The whole thing feels really retro. The materials and styling are an amazing homage to the toys of the late 70’s early 80’s - from the packaging to the metal, magnet and friction connections. Playing with this guy is really evocative of playing with Bullmark’s DX Daibaron, if you’re familiar with that classic. It’s clunky in the best way. Not nearly as polished as Bandai or Pose+ but I get the feeling it was done this way intentionally.

Just opened mine. So awesome - so much metal - so much fun. Be careful when messing around with the face changing gimmick. His mask splits open and slides back into his cowl (just like in the cartoon - again, so awesome) revealing whatever face plate expression you’ve established. However, if you want to change the face plate, you need to slide his face mask sections back only halfway so that they’re partially covering the face plate. The face plate won’t disengage unless you have his mask halfway retracted. Not sure how the mechanism is constructed but it is unintuitive. Works fine but it’s tricky.
