I am pretty sure vintage super robot collecting will end with our generation. Most youngsters these days have little to no attachments to vintage robots of the 70s and 80s. Sure, there might be a small number who will pick up collecting such robots in the near future (and only because these people have tastes for vintage robots rather than childhood nostalgia), but even then, such numbers are going to be far and wide.

Nah...unfortunately i dont from what i heard Japanese people speak only Japanese, so it will be hard to negotiate Yup, most of them hardly speak english, basic words at best. And they dont have a habit of negotiating. Best case scenario is to get exemption from tax.

Do you remember how much the DX zanbot in your pics was? Oh, could not remember. But the vintage stuff there are pretty pricey.

Though I share this with you guys and might benefit those who are intending to visit the toy heaven they call Japan! firstly, my modest haul One of the first places I visited for toys is Akihabara's Electric Radio town (right next to Akihabara subway station). There, you will find amiami, yellow submarine and tons of other toy shops with a wide variety of toys (well except SOCs). There are even more toy stores and eateries around the building and not to mention, maid cafes! hehe Overall, Akihabara is a wonderful place to start hunting for toys and especially if you are into plastic figures. However, the most memorable place I visited for toys was Nakano Broadway! (couple minutes walk from Nakano station) It felt like a condensed version of Akihabara. All in one building. 3 stories filled with countless toy shops. And don't ever forget to visit Manderake while you are there. While one can complain about their pricing, no one can fault their huge range of toys on offer. one advantage of buying from Mandarake is they offer tax exemption and shipping services as well! Situated at level 4. However, the catch is, if you opt for shipping, no tax rebate. Oh, and no trip to Tokyo is complete for a Gundam fan without a visit to Divercity to have a peek at this bad boy! and it freakin transforms to destroy mode! as a bonus, there is also a mega store and exhibition area on level 7

Wow...Mr. Shinny has been doing lots of squats and lunges. Some big legs. Well, you need big legs to balance out those huge shoulder pads, dont think we want a shelf dive wont we?

Damn that really sucks... Why can't they open the box the way normal people do? Are you in the US? I'd see if there is a way to file a complaint... Canada, sir. I've filed a case with FedEx and I believe a review with customs in part of the process. But, I'll also place a call to Canada Customs tomorrow morning...this is ridiculous. hope you get your compensation bro. despite their responsibilities, there are no excuses for customs destroying our packages.

great to see that Bandai and amiami have prepared plenty stock for every interested collector as opposed to the constant online street fight we are more accustomed to. not sure if this is a sign that I should preorder one as well...hmmm...

Wow that is cool!!! Thanks tjdetweiler!!! No worries..I think it got announced in 2009 but never saw the daylight afterwards..looks very cool..I think this will cost heaps considering its size Ahh, thats what i thought. So it was never released back in 2009 then. If they are going to do it, i hope its going to be the likes of tamashii exclusive ie every interest party will get the quantity they want, no street fight and no eventual horrendous secondary market prices.

The MB mazinger will be an easy pass for me. If it stays true to MB traditions, meaning an expensive mazinger little to no diecast, might as well stick to the SOC line. But thats just me

just saw the new AT-AT lego set up close and personal yesterday, the design is hedious! i think why it is selling so well now its probably the younger generation who have not seen the original trilogy.

Agree, the designers are just plain lazy and based their designs on the original trilogy. I dont see any breakthrough in designs even though the force awakens happens some 30-40 years after episode 6?
I have preordered the falcon but i guess i will have to wait a bit for it. What i am really glad is i sold my original limited edition 10179 back when it have a little bit more value than now.
