Yay! Amazon came through on a pre-order for once and mine arrived this morning. (during the 15 minutes I ran to the bank... with UPS leaving it in a puddle! Thankfully inner box was dry)
So having it in hand, what can I say. Wow! The level of detail is amazing. This thing really is a deserving partner for GX-71. One of the best combiners in the line. Yeah there are a few things that the MM does better (I do not trust the plastic tabs on the red plane. But that may be PTSD from the original) But those are few. Unquestionably this is the best representation of the robot ever rendered in physical form. And it is easily on par with GX-71 and GX-68. Little details like Rubber tires and working treads win me over. all the little tiny hatches and flip out landing gear reminds me of some fantastic older SOC's like Danguard Ace. It's head and shoulders above the Power Rangers Mecha and the FA and DC's.
I'm not a sleeper for Super Articulation in a combiner, so this guy is more than impressive enough for my tastes. He's better than most of the larger SOC combiners but not quite to GX-71's level. With that said I think he has taken my #2 spot, only falling behind GoLion. And even that might just be playground preferences from long ago.

the new Pose + Metal figure is ....
Gowapper 5 Gōdam
for me i was like who the heck is that robot lol
here is a clip
i think ET did one long ago
That has got to be some of the stranger Art Design style in anime. I'm not sure what to make of Gowapper 5. I have a certain fondness for big chunky robots. Although just from seeing the opening I begin to suspect that the lead artist was color blind.

I’m not sure if it’s just me; but I’m glad I have the miracle VV, the GX-88 stature has me down. Don’t get me wrong, still glad Bandai is releasing a SOC and I’m excited to get it, but why couldn’t it the same size as the Miracle version??? Thanks for the comparison shot. I'm glad I have the MMC and I will be glad to get the GX-88, so no bad things to say about either. I'm lucky and have a problem free MM. But I do have to be the Obsessive Compulsive nitpicker and point out somebodies got his legs on backwards

LOL, hey i stand corrected! But that Robotizer is HOT! I just wish 5Pro or Bandai will do a proper one with... "METAL FEET!" Do you hear me King Arts? (teehee) Honestly the Robotizer is kind of meh. It looks nice standing next to the Maz SOC's. But the paintwork is nowhere near as crisp as Bandai's or others. The Knee joints are ugly and horrifying to move. With these weird screeching plastic on plastic ratchets.

I know nothing about Getter Go... but I am enthralled to get a fully transforming Getter (That doesn't look like some messy spiky bug thing... mess... ) So this one has my attention. It actually looks more like something from the old Micronauts line. An Acroyer.

I don’t have any of FA myself. Not going to get caught up in it. They are really just larger sized SRC's. Honestly I preferred the SRC's.

Yea DX Voltes was really the only thing I was hoping for from this show so I'm glad but kinda bummed for the people who wanted DX Grendizer(would of preferred seeing him over Gaiking, not sure if the Gaiking will even be DX sized). But Voltes and Daltanious will probably be my only purchases for next year unless magically Dangaioh, Baldios, or Albegas is announced lol. But it also possible if DX Gaiking is using GX-27 and the DX part is the Daikumaru, then maybe they can perhaps do something down the road with GX-81 for DX Zambot 3😃😃😃😃😃😃 The Gaiking figure shown next to Daiku Maru is the GX-27 I believe. Which gives you an idea of the scale of the DX DM. It's huge. It's scaled to the SOC 6-7" Mazinger sized figures.

Bleah! I love Ideon, but I'm not seeing the point of a FA super articulated Ideon? I mean in the TV series and OVA movie it is a great stiff lumbering frankenstein like robot. The old SOC actually has far more articulation than is ever seen on screen. A non transforming/combining Kung Fu Ideon just seems weird.

That's a surprise. I love DaikuMaryu but I don't know if I am getting it. I definitely don't have the space to display it. Who does? It's gotta be bigger than the bloody GX-85 Titanus! I've still got that one sitting on my desk as I can't fit it in my shelves. This looks gorgeous, but it also looks bigger than my dog.

The first version is more accurate to the cartoon, which is what Bandai goes for on first release. Reprints are a notorious money grab on a popular figure. It allows the company to make more profit off the mold since they don’t have to pay the development cost again. I don’t mind the repaint. I only buy the ones I really want and I want this one and will get the inevitable Voltron Popy repaint. I prefer the cartoon accurate paint on most. I always thought the toy lion head was better than the anime one for Daltanious. The chrome parts look a lot nicer too. Bandai's really twisting the knife by including the anime lion head with the renewal release. Expect repaints as long as the company feels it can profit from them. Didn't have much of an interest in the first release. Bandai's making me look twice at this one. The Original Release is one of the finest SOC's in the line. I rank it at #3 behind Voltron and GGG. And the R version has some nice extras. And yeah For the R or Renewal Release Bandai will often make it a "Popy Toy Color" version, which is why this one gets the gold chrome.

I would have expected Boss Borot to make a comeback before these two - rerelease or a new version. Mazinkaiser OVA Boss Borot and Venus A / Medusa Venus A (or whatever they call that form) are still in my top 10 most wanted list. I’m thinking Metal Build Mazinger Z Infinity Boss Borot. I mean we know Bandai are completely insane, so why not?

OKay! That finishes it! I think that just about exhausts even my more obscure wishlist entries to Bandai. The past 2 years have been really really scary for this. I'm afraid that if I post "I want Bandai to make Hanna Barbera's Frankenstein Junior as a SOC' we'd get it. This is a dangerous feeling of power.
wish for Zanda Cross please lol
I'm surprised ET hasn't popped one out alongside Gekiganger 3? Actually Bandai did do a Zanda Cross Robot Damashii fig. How was that one?

I have to say this Tamashii Nations is much better than previous years for me - a much better range. DX SOC Voltes - totally unexpected was a bonus, considering that everyone was expecting DX-Grendizer (based on SOC numbering). I'm hoping they release SOC Andromeda from Space Battleship Yamato 2202 down the track. And re-issue Daimos as a renewal GX-43R, as well as Golion as GX-71R
not only based on the SOC numbering but also based on the blue print and the interview by Gokin.it
which is really weird, they jumped from the GX-05 to the GX-31, i guess that's mean not every robot is eligible to be a DX
also dont you think its about 3 to 4 years early for the GX-71R ?
We knew they would break from the numbering at some point. I don't think anybody was expecting a decade run of nothing but DX Mazinger Fembots, or 6 or 7 Evangelion variants. We just figured it would get past Grendizer and the Getters before skipping around. Although the DX Voltes really isn't that surprising. As soon as they did Combatler V you knew that a Voltes had to be somewhere in the pipeline. The DX Daiku Maru is definitely unexpected. Like "What was Bandai smoking?" levels of unexpected... I figured a DX Gaiking would be the more likely entry.

No DX Grendizer 🤬 Bandai, I was looking for this for a long time and even I didn’t got KA grendizer for that 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
and you know what made it so damn awful ?
it was Grendizer anniversary this month .... I don't know if you caught this www.arabnews.com/node/1574356/lifestyle?fbclid=IwAR3PQj-e_8VrXNG_cKDXG4aOCttVUs52elhbN_FsG8Rs-aluqUhgBFxLTSQTOKYO: Go Nagai, the Japanese mangaka who created one of the region’s most famous anime to date, has teased the idea of a film featuring everyone’s favorite Super Robot. Speaking to Arab News exclusively from his Tokyo Studio, Nagai said he has plans to create a feature film for Grendizer, similar to the one created for Mazinger, another one of his hits. Grendizer has a long history in the region. Created in 1975, the dubbed version of the anime has a significant impact on pop culture in the Middle East. Grendizer protagonist Duke Fleed. It was an instant hit in the Arab world and remains one of the biggest anime to ever impact local audiences. However, the last episode of Grendizer was produced in 1977, and audiences have been clamoring for a movie since then. A 3D remake of Mazinger, Mazinger Z Infinity, was released in 2017, and many speculate that Grendizer could be the next series to receive an update. “I’m talking to animation companies to create one, but it hasn’t been finalized yet,” he said. “But I believe we can do it.” While many fans have speculated that a movie release may be imminent, coinciding with the 45th anniversary of Grendizer next year, Nagai said it may take years for him to finalize his plans. Nagai also said the film could be an opportunity to introduce the series to newer fans. “The audience of Mazinger Z Infinity was about half old fans of Mazinger Z, and half from the new generation. “Those who were original fans probably saw the movie and felt nostalgic, and the people from the new generation were probably surprised to see such a movie with intense robot action.” ALSO READ: How Japanese anime Grendizer galvanized the Arab world However, Italian fan Luigi Stella, too excited to wait for an official movie, created a fan-made trailer for a Grendizer film, which is available to watch on YouTube. The trailer renders Grendizer (or Goldrake as he is known in Italy) and Duke Fleed in 3D, with loving attention to detail, teasing what could be a phenomenal production. Another passionate fan filmmaker is Syrian 3D artist Walat Mustafa, whose YouTube page features videos detailing what a 3D version of Grendizer might look like. Using the original audio from the old dub, he recreates the anime’s environments — models — and of course the robot itself — in videos that can be as short as 50 seconds to as long as half an hour. One person, in particular, would love to see a Grendizer film come to fruition. Jihad Al-Atrash, the actor who portrayed Duke Fleed in the original Arabic dub of Grendizer, would love to reprise his role, provided the circumstances were right. “I’ve heard the rumors, but it’s all been talk at this point,” he told Arab News. “But I’m definitely interested. While I haven’t got much interest in participating in a fan film or an unofficial film, I would love to be involved in an official remake or sequel.”

What the hell's with visible wing slots? along with unnecessary panel lines. It would look much better without them Yeah. The Voltes-Bazooka is also bent. Anyway, wonder why this DX Voltes-V ain't in the Godaikin/Respect deco. Bandai already planning to gouge? It's probably a painted up pre production prototype. Likely a mixture of 3d printed and resin cast. You can see some textures of that in the feet. That would explain why the gun looks bent. The red paint has a hand painted look to it.

Sounds like the metal is mostly in the legs with scattered pieces here and there, not as much as Golion but Dairugger is easier to pose, I can't wait to get this! Considering that the original was the one robot that had so little metal they didn't actually call it a Chogokin I think we are doing pretty well with this. The MMC has a bit too much to be brutally honest. It's a little too top heavy. I like a lot of metal, but I like it well placed to create a nice stable robot.

Did Wotafa assemble GX-88 in retro mode - No movement from the waist to the legs? Wotafa looks to be wearing a sweater with interesting prints - judging from the sleeves. That’s the old Matchbox/Popy Voltron/Dairugger from the 80’s in Wotafa’s video. I’m assuming he’s reviewing for comparison in anticipation of the GX-88. The one he was reviewing is actually the original old school Popy one. I’m pretty sure the matchbox had the firing fists removed, including the firing buttons.

I am betting Gaear is just some sort of weird translation thing. They can't actually copyright "Gaia" and a Trademark while possible would need to be exceptionally limited. Do we know of any die cast collector lines or anime shows centered around a character called Gaia that the God Mars characters could be confused with? Gaia comes from Greek Mythology and is the personification of the earth. That makes it very hard to lock down as an IP. It's like trying to Trademark Thor or Hercules. Probably whoever translated the box window pane insert did it phonetically and messed it up, and nobody caught it.

Does the fact that they re-created the classic Popy Blue coloring on this version give anybody else the willies. I know it is new solid 2019 era plastic and not "Popy Blue" but I still couldn't bring myself to touch it for fear it crumbles into dust on contact.
