SOC weights 1.4kg and this weights 2.3kg which is about 60% more weight. If they were in same size, this Voltron would weigh about 80% of the SOC. When toy gets bigger they increase the use of lighter materials to balance things out, because durability of materials don't double when their size becomes double. For comparison, DX SOC Voltes V is well over 3 times the dimension of smaller SOC, but it weights only twice as much, which makes it about 60% of the regular SOC if they were in same size. So, 80% is not bad at all.

mighty impressive. this not only is the most good looking Voltron ever made, but also the most poseable combiner up to date, even beating a lot of Gundam stuffs.

Overall dimension of this toy is more than double the SOC, and with its more complex engineering and LED gimmicks, this definitely is well worth its asking price.

I suspect this 'more diecast' would be around the thigh area. Riobot Mazinkaiser not only had weak waist joints, but also was not very stable standing with its Scrander attached. Hagane Works version solved this problem by reducing the weight on upper body using plastic instead of diecast, and going diecast for the thighs adding more weights to the bottom, which enabled it to stand by itself with Scrander attached. Also Riobot was considerably lighter than the SOC counterpart (370g vs 450g), so this added diecast will make this as hefty as SOC which of course is a good thing too =)

I wish Bandai to leave my favorite robots alone, so the likes of Pose Toys and CCS, 5Pro can do them.

When it comes to the gokin toys, double the size usually means quadruple the price or even more. GX-100 daiku is more then double the length of GX-05, and double the length actually means 8 times the dimension. So, $700 price tag ain't so bad considering 1/8 version was sold for $100 20 years ago. I know it's still crazy that a toy would sell for such price, but still.. a full size Daiku Maryu in a diecast form? I thought such day would never come.

The shoulder joints are now diecast, not fully diecast as the Chinese bootleg, but it should be adequate.. I hope
