Let's work an informal poll here. What U.S. megazords are considered the "hottest" by collectors these days?
I will guess that the black Power Rangers season 1 toy is up there in interest.
Your thoughts....?

Among the enthusiasts, I'd agree there as it is one of few black variants done Stateside. I would also say the original colour version is as popular... if not simply the most recognizable!

i wonder if Bandai is so against BLACK, and that is why we NEVER got DX Wolkaiser in the USA??

Not to hi-jack this thread, but as to why black-variants are not done in North America, you have to realize that the market is not the same as in Japan. Overseas the Bandai toy market has a healthy portion of adult collectors - those like us who grew up on a diet of toy robots and are willing to put up money to buy the variant editions because we've put an emotional value on them. In the States however, the zord toys are geared towards kids - we are the majority whether we want to admit it or not. Even myself back in 1994, I stumbled on a black Megazord and was bewildered as to why anybody would want to buy a non-tv accurate knock-off-like repaint... (I sort of still feel that way, actually).
As for Wolfkaiser... he's not a repaint so ...that's another story altogether (DOES anybody know?)

Hey all, Has anybody tried the DX Wolfkaiser Knockoff I keep seeing at Big Lots? It comes carded in both 'Good' (White and Red) and Evil (Black and Purple) versions, and stands about a foot tall. The card has instructions on how to transform it. It's less than $20, probably $15.

i got the $10 knock-off of him, he is the EXACT same size as the original, based off the unicorn+phoenix megazord from Bandai (Steedaron?), and looking at him on the shelf, he looks GREAT, can't tell he is fake(except the red eye on the shield is painted, and his hands are CHROME)

For stateside PR Zords, and speaking of black repaints, I would imagine the Black Astrozord from Lost Galaxy should have a decent demand by collectors. The original blue one is still one of my faves (maybe because it is so much like a TF), but the black one really takes the cake. Not to mention it displays very well with the other limited black Sentai robos.

I think Astromegazord is a particularly unusual case (don't know how popular the black one is though): The Astromegaship is the only zord to have appeared in 3 different incarnations of Power-Rangers continuity: after "in Space", it was a major plot device throughout "Lost Galaxy" (and even transformed during the Space crossover episodes)... and of course the design made an appearance during the Forever Red episode of "Wild Force."
Personally I love it for its shear massiveness and it's also one of the few American versions that retained its electronic lights and sounds. (Does anybody know if the Japanese version have any other gimicks the American one lost?)
