i am going to LOVE this series!! in Japan, the "Power Ranger" series is sooo much better, and exactly one year ahead. i just watched the first episode RAW of Gekiranger. RAW=not subbed, pure Japanese. I hope TV Nihon translates this asap! I like the outfits, the preview showed the Robo, and it looks sleek, and it uses Nun-chucks (spelling?) but i have never seen a robo use that weapon...have u? I like the non-human mascot, the cat-man, he is cool, like an old Sensei. Anyone here speak Japanese, AND seen this episode yet? Are the fighters like models for the sports-line? or is that just a cover for them.

I just watched it. It is real good. The martial arts choreography is good, especially for a Sentai show. The story is cheesy which is good and the chicks are hot. Yes, it does remind me a lot of Amazon with some Tarzan rolled into it.

While Gekired annoys the sh*t out of me, this is probably my favorite sentai since Hurricanger and Timeranger. The fight scenes have a lot of fun choreography, and the mech/kyojin fights pretty much own the hell out of any other mech fights I've seen in *any* toku. It's like getting a weekly dose of Kung Fu Godzilla!
It saddens me that the PR adaptation is almost certainly going to take the best parts of Gekiranger and nerf the hell out of them, or in the case of the live-action fights, make them stupidly over the top. The wirework in Geki is really well done, almost on the level of a good contemporary HK kung fu production; PR takes it way further than it should.

Gekired reminds me of a Tarzan/Mogly/Amazon Rider + some cheesy acting, however it is inline with most of the newer "red" rangers, comic with a cavalier sense of justice and a very hot head. I agree this show shows a lot of promise, unlike Den-O which is already making my skin crawl a little.

Didn't Gaoranger/Wildforce already do the Tarzan comes back to civilization and leads the team thing? The show so far is actually cool. When they're doing the forms (kata), it reminds of of Dairanger.

Wild Force did; Gaoranger's Red was a vet with a gift for communicating with animals. ...I think I might actually like WF's explanation better.

I agree, but hay Gekired is pretty cool in an irritating way, much like the other Red rangers that preceded him. Lord knows Ban-Ban was super irritating, but still cool. LOL

See, while I thought Boukenger was pretty mediocre overall, I LOVED Akashi. I was like "finally, a Red who's an ACTUAL LEADER instead of a screaming teenager."

Really? You thoguth Boukenger was mediocre? I liked it a lot, pink and yellow were both Hot and the storyline was decent, admittedly it is not as good as Dekaranger.

Episode 2, i don't much like yet the red ranger. i like the spin action...is there going to be a SWORD??? i don't like the PUMBA boucing baddies. i LOVE the Chameleon chic, and the other bad guy(that is in the temple with the bracelets on). i like the cat, he's cool. i like the Panther dude, he's all broody and solomn.

falc, they'll be adding upgrades to Gekitouja with GekiBat (blades), GekiElephant (armor, ball and chain), and Gekishark (gloves? I forget), but no sword announced yet. Still, it's martial-arts themed, I really like that they're staying away from the usual sword finisher.

so far, the finish makes the baddy turn to stone then crumble....odd. is there a reason behind it. i just love swords, in general, i don't mind not having the finish being the sword, i got kinda tired of that in VOLTRON, and similiar in Buffy with the stake....i always wondered why does she waste time bruising up the vamp...just stake him and move on. Same with Voltron, all the fight led up to the sword...everytime. I know SPD had a sword...but did they ever once use it? Every Robo has always had a sword...right?

They crumble to dust because they're all essentially zombies. (KUNG-FU zombies.) If you watch TVN's sub, Miki (the female captain/mentor) talks about what they are. Yeah, Dekaranger Robo had a sword and even used it as a finisher a few times, but more often, DRR used the gun and its Justice Flasher finisher. Most other primary sentai robos have a sword finisher; the one exception was Gaoking, which had the laaaamest sword everrrr... the Fin Blade, which was just Gaoshark's tail, and it wasn't strong enough to finish off any big bads. Hey, Buffy did a few decapitations/sunlightings/burnings/holy waterings from time to time.

i figured that Buffy's fights were prolonged, because it was a major turn-on to see her fight... but anyways. i didn't watch YET the first episode of Gekiranger with SUBS, but i got that they were zombies (bouncing zombies) from the 2nd and 3rd episodes that i DID watch subtitled. The first episode i watched raw...kinda missed some stuff, but didn't notice the rocky ends except in 2 and 3....but is this going to be an ongoing thing? i liked the dusting of vamps in Buffy, BUT when i saw the snap-crackle-pop of vamps in BLADE...that ROCKED! i love how they died in Blade far more than Buffy.
