I found this eBay item, a DVD that teaches how to cast silicone molds and cast resin parts. DVD: Making Silicone Rubber Molds & Casting Resin cgi.ebay.com/DVD-Making-Silicone-Rubber-Molds-Casting-Resin-Parts_W0QQitemZ110085752010QQihZ001QQcategoryZ41205QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemPerhaps this will be useful to some of us noobs here at RJ who'd like to learn this craft; and to long-time members here who'd like to refresh their skillz... to further enhance our joys of collecting, and customizing our own Japanese toys, models, and figures. The URL link looks "broken", but it works- I had tested it, and it opens to that eBay item page. If ya still have problems opening to that page, just copy/paste the yellow highlighted page title "DVD: blah blah blah and blah bluhhh..." shown above into the search bar at eBay, and that should get ya the page listing. I'm ordering myself a copy, this weekend! ;D zozo-Magengar *^__^*

Yeah! ;D
At first when I saw this, I tried to look it up in the torrent networks- to no avail. I'd rather buy this DVD... it might even come with the book, if any. Worth the $14 bucks, indeed.
I searched eBay on that subject of "Casting resin" and found some eBay stores which sell kits and supplies at good deals, too!

Let me know bro how it goes, ^_^ plus if the materials are expensive or not.

Will let ya know alright. As for how expensive the materials are, check out their website. The price-ranges vary from kit to kit. There are advanced kits for those who have experience with this hobby; and there are basic kits to get us noobs started off the bat. Myself, a noob at this, I'd start with the most basic kit I can find which has small quantities of the casting materials, so that I can make a few practice castings and molds before I move up to the real deal... ...no sense in spending so much money on this if you don't first learn the terminology and the proper materials, and how to do it step-by-step. zozo-Magengar Let me know bro how it goes, ^_^ plus if the materials are expensive or not.

dude, i was at pearl paint this morning at canal street, i was buying some sculpting clay when i something caught my eye, i saw a product that says, brush on 40, brushable rubber compound made by Smooth-on, i didnt get to read the full details bec. i was so sleepy and just dragging my feet to go up and down and just want to get home. .... im not sure about whats it for, but my first impression is maybe its for casting rubber? and theres another one that you can cast plastic, nothing much on the box to say what really is about.if what i think is true, then you can cast a plastic like a jumbo or something. i will try to research more on it, but now, gotta sleep. ^_^

Thanks for the Smooth-On link, mannix! I tried clicking on some of the products to view their technical details, but they link to Adobe PDF documents describing the products. I have Adobe Reader; but every time I try to open these docs, my explorer crashes. That's ok, I'll try them around some other way; or right-click Save As so I can read 'em offline without streaming them. zozo-Magengar

I haven't even watched it Yet! This past week I've been distracted with other figures-related stuff, and outside projects.
I should just rip this dvd and post it as a torrent file so's folks here can download it and burn themselves a copy. ;D

Ok, Cool... Now, if I did That. How should I announce it here at RJ? What new Thread title should I give the torrent download link so we can recognize it? There are many RJ members who are into Casting hobbies, and many others who'd like to get into this new hobby. I shouldn't announce it via pm because there are many Cast fans, and that would be kinda intrusive... ...best to just put a download link in a new thread in the Custom Creations section here. I'll start preparing the torrent this evening. It shouldn't take me too long. zozo-Magengar *^__^*

DVD update:
I'm ripping the dvd right now. The dvd is 3.50 gigs... I will upload it As It Appears in its VIDEO_TS folder; meaning you can burn it exactly As Is to a blank dvd with menus and all.
Remember, this is a large file uploaded through torrent; and you'll need highspeed internet to download it. I will upload it to a host from where I will get the announce tracker link for download. I will not shut off my BT client until at least one peer has downloaded the file completely, and I will continue seeding thru until the second peer also has the complete file...
...after that, please carry the seeding task forward so others can download and share the file through the group. This way, many of us can have our own copies of this file.
Be advised: Do NOT modify the file-structure of this VIDEO_TS file folder, and Do NOT add anything to it. Modifications of Any kind could render this VIDEO_TS file folder useless and your dvd inoperable.

Ok, the torrent file is Uploaded, now- Starrrrrt Leeching! ;D Here's the link... www.torrentbox.com/download/91631/RESIN_Making-CastingMolds_3rdEdition.torrentWhen you get to that page, BROWSE towards the bottom to click the title of the file to active the .torrent file download link. Be sure to READ the file description, copy and paste the description into Notepad... the description contains instructions how to burn this to a blank dvd ready to watch the video How To's. I ran a test-burn copy, and it works fine. Here's a screenie capture... Just Follow the instructions, and you'll be Good to Go. Remember, after you download it completely- SEED IT so others can have some and pass it on. Spread the word, so other RJers can enjoy this. Enjoy! ;D zozo-Magengar

Update: I hate when it happens: I originally placed the dvd VIDEO_TS folder in my 3rd harddrive, which has More disc-space. My uTorrent program, Stupid as It Is, moved my VTS folder to my Main harddrive which has almost No disc-space at all! I just hope this upload/torrent share succeeds without problems concerning insufficient disc-space! Because then I'd have to move the entire 3.55gig VTS folder back to my 3rd harddrive... ...and this move will take forever! zozo-Magengar
