Awesome paint job! Where did you get the figure? I would love to get one of those and repaint it like you did... it looks like it was factory painted.

I got mine from a local hobby shop here in Korea. Even though they are ko they still sell them for about 50 dollars each. I got mine for half of that. You can find them on Ebay as well, but the shipping costs puts the bot around $70-$80 dollars. I would have purchased one a long time ago, but I didn't want to pay that much for it. I will say that I am completely satisfied with this ko now that the proper paint has been applied to it. My fiance' even likes it ;D. She initially hated the way it looked. When she saw the difference she couldn't believe it was the same toy. If you do get one take your time when you mask it. The paint adhears to it pretty well and I didn't have any trouble with flaking.

woot-woot!!! nicely done Gen1(as usual ;D )
... i had that KO version also, and they are nice for a KO, im planning to make a big scythe or axe for that one and a closed wing, most lilkely after i finish up my black/silver and black/gold jumbo raydeen.
for the axe, i only have the rod and planning to sculpt it, unless i think of something else to use.
thanks for sharing... always an inspiration to see your customs ^_^

Hello all, This is what I did to paint this figure: 1. Heat up the vinyl with a hair drier to soften the plastic. 2. Disconnect the robots limbs and upper torso. 3. Mask off all areas that don't need paint applied to them. I used an exacto/hobby knife to cut the tape in certain areas that already had paint applied to them. I.e. the green markings on the neck, legs and upper/lower torso. 4. Sprayed all areas with flat white Krylon paint. Allow to dry for 24 hours. 5. Removed tape and cleaned any over-spray from the tight areas. 6. Reheat the limbs and lower torso of the body to allow for easier reassembly. Be mindful of the white paint that may come in contact with the preexisting red parts of the robot. Note: when reassembling only heat the female parts of the robot. If you apply heat to the male ends of the limbs they will bend when you try to put the arms and legs back together. This makes reassembly more difficult. 7. Apply touch up paint to any areas that were unfortunately touched by the red portions of the robot. 8. Enjoy your new masterpiece ;D

No, I didn't sand the white paint. I like the way the texture of the paint makes the robot look so I left it as is.

Looks great. I think if you panel-line the grooves in his torso, chest, and upper arms it will really make it pop!
