Has anyone else seen this?? www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljlist.cgi#Mach Baron It looks like Bandai is about to unleash a whole hoard of original 1970s Chogokin reissues! I first did this search looking for more pre-Shogun Warriors and found a whole lot more than I expected. Looks like the first wave launches this month, followed by ones in October and December. Now we just need some DX reissues!

Is that a strong belief or a guess?
I'm really hoping these are approx. the size of the originals. If they are, I'm planning to obtain most of them, though I never did like the original Getta Robo.

I believe he is right, I am not sure however they will be under the Bandai name or under the Popy banner that bandai has recently resurrected to release some vinyl remakes.

Yeah, these are 3/4 size...apparently, they're exact repros. I'm glad they did these...those gashapon ones were way too small.

Hi All, I just bought the Ol' Z..."The Chogokin Mazinger Z" [GT-01] that is... from eBay... Check out the pics: cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3140140583&category=2662&rd=1The seller still has one more for sale..My previous bid from this guy was the Chogokin Strike Gundam. His delivery was very speedy for international shipping!!! So as soon as I get it, Ill post some comments up if thast OK with everyone! Just my 2 cents: I bought it in an instant cos it struck the vulnerable nostalgia cord in me that high waist, those skinny metal legs and shooting fists! All classic 70's lines....I had an original Popy Great Mazinger..and suffice to say my young age back then did not warrant any "duty of care" when handling it...But I had always wanted the original Mazinger Z...Dont really care if its 3/4 or full Popy size..as long as it has the super alloy goodness and classic lines. ;D

I'm very disappointed with the size, but considering the quality and (dare I say?) sacredness of the toy, as well as the incredibly affordable price, there's no way I'd turn it down. Now why the hell did they shrink it??!

There is speculation that the size was reduced to protect the value of the vintage pieces, and to prevent parts swapping.
Apparently, Bandai's stated intention for this line was to give collectors something that they could buy cheaply without having to justify the purchases to their wives. Cute, no?
From what I've seen of the catalog (and on HLJ), there appears to be several more of these in the hopper, along the lines of Reideen, Combattra, Getter 2 & 3, and Voltes V.

I think that this line,"THE CHOGOKIN",is very cool because is not exphensive and offers the mighty chogokin collection a little bit smaller but with the same fantastic style. My mazinger z and getter 1 have been shipped by HLJ,and I'm waiting. Now I want the other getters, great mazinger, and grendizer dx with spacer!!!!!

;D They are nice, and they are nostalgia incarnate. Unfortunately, I would rather spend money on SOC's MMM, Macross toys from Yamato, and other stuff. I "may" get one, if they'll be releasing a Grendizer and Gaiking version

I've preordered my Mazinger Z from HLJ, but I don't think they've shipped it yet, so it'll be a race to see who gets it first My only question: If they were concerned about confusing the reissues with the originals, why not make it BIGGER? An inch would have sufficed!

Oy! I guess I aint getting one after that pic. To small to justify the price it's going for.

Only Grendizer and Voltes V reissues will justify it for me.
