...does the GX-18 SOC Getter Dragun look better when it was unpainted? The colored proto pic on HLJ seems "off" somehow I think it's the blue! It could use a few chades of darker blue. Anyone else here feel this way?

I can see what you're saying. Maybe It's cuz I've never been a Getta Robo fan, but it's always seemed to me that he has hideous colors. I think he looks far better in gray. Maybe it's just the shock that he's capable of looking better in other colors that's bugging you. A completely metalic Shogun Warriors Getta Robo would probably look equally better

Yes, it SHOULD be white as in the anime.
But I don't really mind the chrome. It'll go well with my other Gokins are are mostly composed or shiny chrome parts.
However, if painting the limbs white will make it look better, then I am all for it.

Didn't the original popy figure have chrome thighs? Maybe that's the look they were going for, rather than anime accuracy.

There's a signifigant change to the look of the face, which drags it down from the sharper original pic for me. You see that with gaming miniatures a lot; where a paint job can either enhance or detract from the unpainted sculpt . Molded-in colors always look sharper to me (that is for toys v.s. model kits...which look better with paint).

isn't his head too small? or am i just too obsessed with the popy version? There's a signifigant change to the look of the face, which drags it down from the sharper original pic for me. Sorry, it's coming up as "Error 403" Can you try posting a pic instead? To post a pic, click on REPLY, then click the icon from the stylebar that looks like a picture frame. Then just type the URL address of the image inbetween the [IMG-} tags that appear

I think I found what you were referring to Koji! Here: It does look nice, and some of the details on this pic look better, but the blue still bugs me. I think if Bandai makes the blue a few shades darker, the chrome will work with the colors. Check out the display stand for the Getter Machines. Yummy! **edit in** Infoseek link doesn't work with tags. So I uploaded it.

Getter Dragun definitely looks amazing! I'll give it that. I just hope that Bandai doesn't stick with that light blue color, ang use something similar to the old school Getter Dragun pic JB posted.

According to me a model of a robot is fantastic when it reproduce the original style and colors of the anime/comics(look at the fantastic GX07,equal to the original Mazinger of the comics). In this case, the SOC Dragon is very fantastic and amazing, also the light and dark blue of the torso,as you can see in the anime.Infact,if you look at this site the colors and the line are the same www.encirobot.com/gett/gett-mec09.htmlWhite or metallic? In my opinion the white is the color used by the autors to represent the metallic parts, because in the images of the cartoon the metallic color didn't work so well.Have you ever seen a metallic color in a Super Robot? All the robots(perhaps there are some exceptions...) have the white in the parts where do you aspect he metal.Obviously for some robots the white works better than the metallic also if you reprocuce them in the reality,as the first getter team. But I think that the color of the SOC Dragon is better than the popy version because is very similar to the anime. Ok,this is my opinion, but it seems quite good...or not?....aarrghh.....
