Check out this announcement. The third paragrpah reads: "Toynami will begin this summer with anniversary editions of 1/55 VF-1S and VF-1J variants and continue this fall with armored VF-1A Super Valkyries as seen in Macross: Do You Remember Love?. 2009 will mark the release of 1/55 Veritechs from the Robotech television series, with plans to eventually release all known 1/55 Valkyrie toys, including rare and exotic variants." www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2008-05-06/toynami-resurrects-the-classic-vf-1

From what I have read Toynami is going to distribute Bandai 1/55 Valks in the US. So yup these will be Bandai Valks in the US without the huge extra cost of shipping from Japan. I think BBTS already has pre-orders up for all of these. The 2 aniversary Valks are expensive at around $99, but the 2 VF-1A super valks are $85. I am not sure why the super valks are cheaper.
BBTS has the release date of the 2 aniversary valks as next month I believe and the super valks in August. If that link I provided is to be believed it looks like there will be many more 1/55 chuncky monkeys coming out in 2009.
There is a whole thread talking/debating this over at Macross World.

Right, one more time: Toynami are licensing the Bandai 1/55 classic Valkyrie toys for release in North America.

If they plan on releasing everything, and if Toynami brings it all over, does that mean we could see a VF-1S done in Hikaru colors aka Jetfire? Dare I hope!

Well, Jetfire and Hikaru colors aren't the same, though they're similar. The black and red stripes on the chest are inverted, the fast packs would have to all be red, and it would need a red nosecone, among other things. The chance of that getting a release would also never fly with Hasbro, alas.
