Too bad it's not the Hong version, but still a great figure.

It's a quality issue, but as long as you don't care..

Xiombarg, I care. What is the difference between the two?

Thanks silver, I'm glad somebody cares! ;D The HK version is a 2.0 release and has metallic grey parts instead of black. There is also a Japanese 2.0 release with the black parts, but you can't tell it's 2.0 unless you see it in person, so basically if you have the HK version you know you have the 2.0 version with the improvements. A couple of major differences of the 2.0 upgrade that are mentioned in the review from Toysdaily are reinforced joints in the legs and extended movement in the mane allowing for greater arm movement. There are also a couple of connection points that have been adjusted, among other things.

Is the GGGG head part of the black bird like it is on GGG, SGGG and GFG or is it an entirely separate unit?

Totally separate, thanks to the bigass flaming hairpiece coming out of it.

Dammit. I hate parts-forming. There's no way to store it on the bird without the flames?

Dammit. I hate parts-forming. There's no way to store it on the bird without the flames? Bro there's waay too much part-forming on Genesic GGG. i didn't realised that we had to remove or add-on parts when combining it vice-versa. anyway since you've previously stated that yrs will be 99.9% of the time in combined form, that shld be no problem for you . But as for me that's ok, i'll just bear with it then. no big deal.

Dammit. I hate parts-forming. There's no way to store it on the bird without the flames? Nope, no way. Parts that have to be completely removed for one form or other (forgive me if I miss any): - Mane - Helmet - Shoulder detail brackets (skippable, aesthetic) - Shoulder connection block - Belly of Gadget Gao - Gadget Gao's toes (skippable, aesthetic) - Gadget Gao's inner foot covers (skippable, aesthetic) - Broken/Protect Gao's belly pieces (skippable, aesthetic) - Broken/Protect Gao's rear tail covers (skippable, aethetic) - Gadget Gao's engine mounts Parts that have to be yanked off and put somewhere else during transformation: - Gadget Gao's tail - Gadget Gao's tail hook/tusks - Engines/forearms (this is a given though, and is canon for the transformation) The only way to avoid true partsforming on a GGGG fig is to pick up a DX GGGG.

I regret not jumping on that cheap DX version a few months ago... I was only concerned about the all-plastic construction and decided to pass on it to get the version with die-cast.

I regret not jumping on that cheap DX version a few months ago... I was only concerned about the all-plastic construction and decided to pass on it to get the version with die-cast. Pls don't regret yr decision, that was a great deal you had on that auction . it was a steal at $68 only & also the DX GGGG does have it's drawback. that's why the Brave gokin version was made in the first place. the DX GGGG was like a launchpad, a testing ground for the said product. Maybe you might've forgotten but awhile back (last yr) you did post asking abt it. & i remember the reply by boardmembers was very detail & in-depth abt the pros & cons of the DX GGGG. here's yr original post: robotjapan.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=BandaiOther&action=display&thread=6906

Now I remember. Still, I think I would prefer the DX version despite its drawbacks (mostly fragility from what I can understand). I'll wait to receive the Brave one before deciding to keep it or re-sell it to get the DX version instead.

Got it today. SO disapointed. Leg broken at the knee (NOT stated in the auction) and it smells smoke like crazy. Hence the discoloration. I hope I get my money back because now it's not worth a single penny. I'm afraid to open the VF-1J that came with it now.

Whoa dude. that's bad, real bad man. i can empathise w/you there & here we all thought you really got a great bargain on the item. btw have you contacted the seller yet?
Hope you will get a refund back soon. remember this seller: JP-toy-maniacs 1. avoid like the plague!

I basically paid $275 for a VF-1J (which was MISB, thank god... still smells like cigarette though)... Wow. I contacted the seller, waiting for a response. Basically 3 problems with that transaction:
-broken leg -missing instructions & other paperwork -cigarette smell
I tried rebuilding the knee joint, but it didn't work. So my only solution was to glue it in place and forgetting about knee rotation for that leg. By chance you can still combine the legs fine even when they're facing backward...

I've fixed two broken GGG knees now. Can you take a picture of the broken one on yours, or have you already glued it all together?
