I was tossing around some ideas with Otaru on possibly making a fan-comic for Getter Robo and post it here on RJ. Was working around with either going noir (blacks & whites), or just dark with bits and pieces of color in them. I got around to finishing a sort of "test" picture, and wanted to ask you guys what you think. I consider it "old school" because it's just a pencil, a pigma-brush, and watercolors. What do you think of it? Too dark, too much color, adjustments? Just give me your feedback. Constructive criticism is always welcome! Thanks!

what do I think of it?! I think this is some great art and you have a great talent, that's what I think. and I like the coloring a hell lot by the way. I like it a bit dark and menacing, just the way it should be, and with getter robo you have a sure winner on your hands for that kind of design. so, simply put, I love it! hope you guys go on with this project!!! many thanks from a getter fan!!!!

Looking sharp! If you have the time and inclination go with color and enjoy using your "old school" analog art tools. Maybe for greater inked line variety and easier shadow feathering you could also try other brush pens like the Pentel Pocket brush or the Platinum pocket brushes (as seen in www.jetpens.com/index.php/cPath/221) which lay down nice dark blacks that are waterproof once dried. The bright pink shadow on the axe blade might be a tad distracting while perhaps a cooler purple or even a solid black would've preserve color harmony better.

I use Copics or Deleters.

Very very cool. My only thought, just a thought, would be to add highlighting on the chin from the flames below.... The flames and legs are especially cool

LOL! I do apologize for the "pink" shadow on the tomahawk there. That's actually purple, but the scanner being used in the internet cafe I go to isn't working right, so the colors look a bit off. toystarr: I had a noir version done, but it looked a little bland. I think the shadows and subtle hints of colors will work well, not too bland, but not too colorful either. We're still thinking of a good story to use for the comic, but if all goes well, we'll definitely push through with the project. Neocaledonian: Thanks for the suggestions for the brush-pens. I was actually using the Sakura Pigma-brushes for the lines, and some indian ink I had lying around. I'll try to check the local art supply for those brushes. 00silvergt: What are copics/deleters? ed: I was a little sketchy between adding the light on the chin versus the green glow, so I went with the latter. In any case, I'm still working on the whole light source thing, but once I get the hang of it, it'll definitely look a lot better. ^_^ Anywhoo, thanks for the kind comments, and suggestions folks! Hopefully, me and Otaru can work out a good story, for the comic. We're really hoping this can push through. Anyone with an idea for a good story is welcome to throw their hat in! ;D
