Gaogaigar PVC action figures

Hi, all, I figured I'd start a thread about the various Gaogaigar PVC action figures, several companies have released quite a few. Hopefully this list will help clear things up.


The first company to manufacture the Gaogaigar figures (aside from Takara) was Yujin.

The Yujin figures are the worst, actually(with the exception of King J-Der). The gold paint keeps rubbing off on one's fingers.







The second company to try to make figures of Gaogaigar is Kaiyodo

Last but not least, the most recent contender is CMs. Corp's Mecha Action Series line.

The only way to get the GGG big three was to buy the Grand Glorious DVD Boxset original Japan Region 2 giftset. I was fortunate enough to score the figures last week on Ebay (Sans the DVD though). CMs Corp. will be releasing mass produced versions of Genesic Gaogaigar (open wings), Gaofighgar (with Goldion Hammer) later this year.

The latest addition to the CMs MAS Gaogaigar line, the figure has more detail and actually stands better than the previous Kaiyodo figure.

The Star GGG has more detailed "crown" and painted Linear Gao windows and painted elbows.

Overall, the Yujin figures are the worst (due to the rub off paint), but they are technically the most fun to pose (the others tend to have very tight joints. It feels like I might break them trying to pose them).

I'd say the CMs MAS figures are better, in terms of proportion, the only drawback is changing the fists is a real difficult task! I wished they made it easier. The joints on Star Gaogaigar is actually better than those included in the DVD box (CMs MAS Gaofighgar just literally comes apart in your hand).


The Kaiyodo figures are slightly misproportioned and the wing connector pegs are very, very fragile. However, I really hope Kaiyodo releases Gaogaigar in the Revoltech series soon.

I'm with you on the GGG Revoltechs, Gold, and judging from the Gurren Lagann revoltech set, I wouldn't be surprised if they did all 3 versions of GGG, as well as Choryujin, Volfogg, Goldy, and King J-der, we might even get Tenryujin and Gekiryujin (as a Friendshop recolor). When GGG gets a Revoltech, I'll actually have all my favorite mechs (save the Gundams) in one set, well... it'd be nice to get a Mazinger Z Revol too.

Whoa pixs galore Gold! anyway even tho i'm a big fan of Kaiyodo Revoltech series but somehow their version of GGG figures looks totally out of proportions, they looked so puffed-up like marshmallow man. lol

So here's hoping that in the near future if they release Revoltech GGGs, they would improve the overall look of the GGG figures.

The Hammer is a bit difficult to attach, you have to pry the fingers and insert the hammer handle. At first I thought it was similar to the Kaiyodo Robot Museum Goldion hammer and that the Hammer head disconnects at the handle, boy was I wrong! I almost broke the hammer(heard a loud snap, good thing it didn't give all the way. Whew).

Well, the good news is, these figures are on the market now for those who weren't able to get the DVD boxset version (it's selling for $400). The bad news is that the joints are still as bad the first versions. The ankles, knees and elbows are very loose, causing both the GFG and GGGG to topple over at times if posed unbalanced.

Swapping out the fists are still a problem for the GFG (hence I didn't take any pics the Hell and Heaven, Dividing Driver or Protect shade). The GGGG's fists are easier to swap out but doing the Protect Shade requires removing the outer forearm from the shaft. Which is no easy task, so I didn't take the chance.


Generally, unless you're a diehard for GGG items, I would stay away from these figures and hope Kaiyodo does a Revoltech series of them. In fairness though, these are better than the Yujin figures (the gold paint rubs off on those, gross) and the joints on the MAS Gaogaigo did seem better, so maybe it's hit or miss?

That said, I really hope the upcoming MAS Mekanda Robo has better joints. Because that would really be disappointing if that particular figure still had such glaring quality problems.

I liked the way the kaiyado versions look (which I have star GGG) they just have a more aggressive look. Havent watched the anime yet so not sure how it holds up but it looks more like it would be in the anime then the other versions. But they are quite fragile (my first kaiyado GGG head broke easily) as with most of kaiyados earlier releases before moving to revlos. I also have yujins releases of GGGG which i was quite pleased with I havent had any problems with the painting though.

Don't mean to resurrect a dead thread or advertise but just a heads up HLJ has MAS gaogaigo on sale for $10 in case anyones interested. <---It's still on sale but don't even...

I've watched the "GaoGaiGar Final" series,
and I'm still tryin to digest this robot character.
He's badazz, and I like his weapon calls and
fusion transformations as well.
If I were to start a collection line of GaoGaiGars
I'd have to look here to see which to start with.
But that's unlikely since I'm tryin to stay focused
on Mazinger.
Still, GGG friggin Rocks. And he's the only anime
robot I know of that has a Tail! ;D

Got my CMs GaoGaiGo today from HLJ upon taking it out of box a wing popped off due to the glue used not being strong enough... it popped back on so I thought hey I'll fix that later... so I pick up the toy I was amazed at the sculpt and detail and upon carefully fiddling the articulation wasn't bad either untill... leg fell to the ground... It turns out it broke at the just the right place to leave the ball joint stuck in the thigh, I was pissed and while looking to see if I could fix... the arm started to fall off now so I put it back in box, now I'm pissed and I'm going to email hlj I wan't my $10 back AVOID THE MAS

No, no, no... you don't want to get your money back! Send HLJ some pictures of the broken/defective figure and they will send you a new one right away. I had problems with the GaoFighGar's right arm falling off the socket because the hole was bigger than the peg (factory defect). I sent HLJ some pics and about ten days later I got a new one.

No, no, no... you don't want to get your money back! Send HLJ some pictures of the broken/defective figure and they will send you a new one right away. I had problems with the GaoFighGar's right arm falling off the socket because the hole was bigger than the peg (factory defect). I sent HLJ some pics and about ten days later I got a new one.

Alright I sent an email including some pics couldn't take a pic of the wing though because the arm felt like it was about to break it's hanging on by a thread I have to say if this is the way all MAS figures are I feel REALLY REALLY sorry for anyone who bought the Grand Glorious Boxset.

I'm amazed that Gold seems to have incredible luck with these if none have broken on him yet my gaogaigo broke just by gently lifting it I didn't even try to move the thigh and it broke as for the arm I was about to remove the hands for hell and heaven and I noticed it had gotten looser upon inspection the joint was breaking D:< I'm still pissed about it

Good luck on that one, as even the Limited Black ones are very hard to find. Just so you know, those are basically rigid pose statues of King J-Der, not action figures like the others.

If you also sent them an explanation of the damage/defect it should be fine. You see, if you ask for a refund, HLJ will only refund the cost of the merchandise but not the shipping. Might as well just have them send you another figure for free...

The email I sent them asked if I could have a refund or a replacement figure I also included pics of the breaks and explained the problems I haven't got a response yet... how long does it usually take?

Here is a shot of the 2002 WF Exclusive Choryujin and GGG set. After finding out it was sor rare I might not take it out of the package, but I sort of want to. I kind of want to customize them too.
