I've recently, finally, been moving and unpacking my collection; putting it back in my display-case. But in doing so I discovered that a curse lay upon my GGG toys: four of them are now seriously broken. I am thus the proud owner of: - A metallic green Max Gokin GGGG with left arm broken off, whilst gently posing it. Aparently, it doesn't like to be rotated very much.
- A CM's Brave Gokin Gaofighgar with a left arm broken clean off, which was actually my fault, for not realizing that there were gears inside GaoFar's torso and the arms did not fold back independent of each other - like, say, in every other CM's GGG toy I own..
- A CM's Brave Gokin Genesic Gaogaigar, with, for a change, the left lower leg broken off. This happened as I was 'final fusioning' it and - thanks to the wonderfully tight hipjoints, which are eminently capable of bearing the immense bulk of the torso - the figure inexplicably decided to do the splits as I was fiddling with the wings.
- Most recently, a golden Max Gokin GGGG with right arm broken off in exactly the same fashion as it's emerald brethren, which literally fell off after more than a day in a closed display-case, without ever being dramatically manipulated beforehand. I was, needless to say, speechless.
Sigh. In the coming weeks I'm going to endeavour to repair some of this, if I can, but at the moment, I'm just feeling pretty miffed. It just seems like so many of these modern GGGG toys from companies like CM's and Max factory are so incredibly prone to breaking. Sometimes, it seems, from merely looking at them. Anyway, I'm posting this to perhaps prevent other from making the same mistakes I did, and because I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with these toys. Perhaps even some tips on repairing them?

Sad to hear that. Which part of the Maxfactory GGGG arm is broken? At the bicep joint or at the shoulder joint? Likewise, on the GGGG CMS did the breakage happen at the knee or at the groin? I have to agree though, the Takara version is really sturdy compared to these new versions. Makes me appreciate how Bandai releases their products. Sigh. Gold

Both Max Gokin versions broke where the (grey) upper arm connects to the (grey) shoulder joint. It's just a small plastic bit in there, perhaps four millimeters in diameter; allowing it to rotate. I don't know what I did to stress it to breaking, as I never posed these (as you well know) rare figures any more dramatically than slightly spreading the arms to create the Hell and Heaven pose.
It just so happens, however, that I have an old version 1 Max GGGG which I'm willing to use as a donor for these two, so I might be able to replace the broken parts. But it all depends on whether or not I can puzzle out a way to actually disassemble these things, and whether any more arms decide to fall off. -_-
And if I manage it, I might as well replace the hip joint on my Golden GGGG; since that was pretty much immobile from the moment I took it out of the box..
The CM's Genesic's leg broke at the knee; above the grey rectangular mid-section that clicks into Spiral (or Drill) Gao. I took the legs apart - thankfully an easy task compared to the Max Gokins - and found that there's a small, seperate, nut & bolt shaped bit of plastic inbetween these sections of the leg. In my case, this part snapped as the lower leg bent away sideways by the weight put on it.
The difficulty here is trying to find or create something suitable to replace it. Space is rather tight, so it needs to be exact. It's either that, or making a mold of the intact version still in the left leg, and casting a replacement out of resin.
I was wanting to experiment with the latter process, already, anyway, since it could allow me to cast and upscale accessories for my CM's DX Genesics.. so I may go that route.
But all that aside, yes, I really do love, say, Bandia's SOC line all the more now. All the toys I own from that line are, at least, still whole and intact. These are all gorgeous figures, but I just 'lost' half my GGG collection in the span of two days, so my love for them is somewhat lessened..

I don't know if this will help but here is how I repair any figure that has a broken peg.
1) Measure the width of the peg as close as possible. 2) Snip the peg clean off so that the surface is flush where the peg used to be. 3) Go to your hobby store and buy a carbon fiber rod that has the same approximate diameter. 4) Drill a hole where the old peg used to poke out. Doesn't need to be deep at all, like maybe 3 mm. WARNING: you want this hole to be in line with the arm so I suggest using a hobby vise or hobby clamp to hold it in place, or you can even have somebody else hold it while you drill. Go slow. 5) Insert peg and glue, then reattach arm. If it doesn't rotate, then sand. If it rotates but it's rough I would leave it and let the plastic wear down over time. The last thing you want to do is have to do this again.

I have just received my Max final version GGGG. My perception from handling the toy is that it is a very delicate piece. For one, the figure sits very tight in the styrofoam and that could stress many parts. Out the box, I realized that if I ever dropped the figure, more that few things would break. I think it is just very delicate. I wished they would use diecast for the weak and delicate parts.

I've replaced two knees between my two CM's *Gar figures, both with screws/washers. The remaining joints i reinforced with epoxy and my remaining washers to try and bolster the connection point and I've so far encountered no further breakages, though to be fair I haven't actually TOUCHED either of them in ... oh.... 16 months?
It's a pity, really, but I've resigned myself to the fact that all of the modern available *Gar figures are exclusively for display, and not for touching or mucking about with. Fortunately, I have plenty of other figs that I can fiddle with.

My "Max Gokin broke where the (grey) upper arm connects to the (grey) shoulder joint" also. I have been fixing these darn things for a while now. Stuff keeps breaking off. For this one, the ball joint connectors are all PVC plastic. Wonderful engineering, lets put diecast onto a toothpick thin ball joint. I repaired that part with great satisfaction.
1. get needle nose plyers. 2. CAREFULLY, pull out literally the ball of the ball joint from the socket on the torso. 3. crazy glue the ball back onto the thin stick on the arm. 4. after glue dries CAREFULLY pop the ball back into the joint.
After that there will be not problems with the shoulder(fingers crossed). Movement will be back too.

My Max Factory GGG's leg fell off. Stupid me, the right leg was really tight unlike the left. I fiddled with it and left it alone. Well surprisingly or not, I have a one legged gimp-gaogaigar now. The legs joints are diecast. But upon closer inspection of the diecast, its really cheap and brittle stuff. This is the worst. Selling disintegrating robots for $$$, what next? Anyway at least there is SOC. I can used my Godmarz as a hammer and there will not be a scratch on it. Truthfully the metal reminds me of the immitation/KO MatchBox cars back in the day. The metal would just break apart in your hands.

maybe a fewture ex-gokin gggg. That' would rule, but it would probably cost $500 and that's why I think all these 'cheap' gokin that have been release to this date are absolutely not good.

Good News just fixed my Max Factory GGG. The leg broke off at the hip.
1. unscrew the 2 screws on the ball joint on the leg. 2. take a big screw driver and split the ball in half. 3. beware the front half of the ball is attached to the leg. 4. the back half pops off. 5. take out the ball within the ball joint 6. glue the ball back onto the hip bar. 7. wait to dry 8. enclose the ball into the ball joint halfs 9. rescrew the screw.
All done. Make sure not to screw too tight. Joint works again
