I ordered mine through Entertainment Earth. Would have rathered BBTS, but better than missing out. hlpro, any idea when we might get info on upcoming Metaltech releases? Just wondering. ;D I just checked my order at Entertainment Earth. It says that it is back ordered even though the listing show it as a pre-order. Apparently there is more demand for this piece than retailers expected. I hope they get some more in. I don't want to miss out on this.

^^^ That's cool ;D How much shorter is the Hero Collection Maz vs Metaltech 01? My Yamato Hero Collection Mazinger Z has been modified a bit, but I would say there is about a 1.5 to 2 CM difference between the two. }D

I still prefer the GX-04S Grendizer over the MetalTech Grendizer.

Well, there is no comparison. The SOC Grendizer is bigger, more detailed, and more expensive - not really a figure you want to be fiddling with too much. The Metaltech Grendizer is an action figure - plain and simple. It is sturdy, has enough detail to look good, it is very articulated, and it is only $50 USD.
It is like comparing diamonds and zirconias. They look the same, but you're definitely paying more for the diamonds.
Now that I think about it, this is the same thing as comparing the Yamato Hero Collection Robots to their Bandai Soul of Chogokin versions... same exact thing.

Today in the mail I got the following: Metaltech-01 Grendizer Robot Damashii Nirvash The END Transformers Alternity Megatron Macross Frontier DX VF-25S Ozma Full Armor .... I think it's telling that of ALL those figures, I immediately enjoyed and have fiddled with the Grendizer the most. This is a high-class and high-quality "toy" in the purest sense of the word. It's stable, it feels great in the hand, all the joints feel great to move and pose, and there's nothing about it that feels fragile or awkward. It may not have the size, accessories, or the chrome of the SOC, but if I had to choose between the two I'd pick this one for its "user friendly" nature. Sure, the finish isn't perfect, and the paint can scuff a little if you get a little enthusiastic playing with it, but I think that's part of the joy of this figure. It should wear its battle scars with pride, this is one of the nicest handling toys I've held in a long time. I'm definitely looking forward to your next figure, hlpro! I might skip the Spazer, though. I like this guy as a figure I can fidget with, less so as a static display piece . It's not that it doesn't look great (it does!), but it would be a shame to constrict such a fun figure!

Sooo, did you discover the removable piece that allows the Grendizer to fully tilt its head up (for flying mode)?... I already removed it from mine, since it really does not need it to begin with.

I found it, but for the life of me can't find a good way to get it out, hah.
If I have one complaint, it's that it's a bit tricky to get the shoulderblade pieces and the back of the neck piece out.

Here is the painful part... pull the head off to take it out.
Pretty awesome figure nevertheless. Pretty awesome TOY!

Nah, Shin Mazinger is in a different class altogether... At any rate, Grendizer is supposed to be bigger anyway.

Nice pics Quinjester ! you should remove the shoulder blades when grendy holds his double harken ;-) hope I'll have time enough to make others too...may be this week end... can't wait for the spazers, Metaltech 02 could be the ennemy from ep 1, the kind of turtle, it's on the back of the box ! Metaltech 03 could be Koutetsu Jeeg, the original one I think...? with his horse as an future add on
