that may not be true. past SOC figures had swappable arms... to stick in the launching mechanism

The right arm of the standing GX-45 looks different from the one in the Rocket Punch firing pose. In the latter pose, there's a gap between the forearm and upper arm that wasn't present in the standing pose.

Looks amazing, and the best part is NO CHROME!!!! I always hated the chrome arms and legs combined with a silver waist. Finally Bandai is taking lessons from Aoshima, and the results are AWESOME! Keep it up Bandai!!!

Agree, I don't like chrome either. White instead of silver would've been better IMO, but anything is better than chrome. Now - when is it coming out for pre-order! ?? }D

The main selling point for me is the poseability. Mazinger Z finally gets a release that can pull off the classic one-knee rocket punch pose. It might also be the beginning of the next upgrade for diecast robots. It went from the first gen-Popy's that could only swing their arms. Then the 1st generation SOCs that could maybe handle a bit more. MF Godannar was the one that raised the bar with it's double-joints, followed by GIM Gurren Lagann. So I'm excited about this trend but at the same time I'm also dreading it. I don't wanna be pressured into buying an upgrade for EVERY robot now.... Oh well. One day at a time... ( I know it's not just an upgrade, though. With the wings and such. )

I loved my GX-07 because it was the "better" Mazinger (for me at least) than the 01/1R because of it's poseability and stability, but looking at this new Maz, I'm sold!

Thanks bizzio. Looks like the Hover Pileder has small joints for the link up with Shin Mazinger Z.

... and the Hover Pilder has a CLEAR canopy! We'll get to see Koji Kabuto inside!
However, I 'm not diggin' the new elbow joints. I think they should've done something similar to the Aoshima's Getter 1 joints - where they remain hidden and you must pull on the joint and extend it to bend the arm. They look good extended as well and do not have to modify the forearms at all - meaning they remain in one piece.

hmm i saw some more production pics for the show
really you didn't like the elbow system? I think its brilliant. the one thing I didn't like aoshima's elbow extension.. it just seem ape like with the longer arms . I mean the extension wasn't that much greater... but it bugged me everytime I saw it.

As are the elbows on the recent GX-44 Tetsujin. The elbows on the new Maz are the right way to do superbot elbows; enough movement without looking weird when straightened or bent. Sure, you can see the elbow joint, but so what? It is a toy after all.

I agree that they should be like the aoshima's getters, but not like the mazinkaiser elbows - those are hiddeous!

I noticed in the drawings/paintings of the forthcoming Shin Mazinger series that Maz has some funky new wings or scrander pack. Will Bandai be including the scrander with the GX-45 in June? Or are we to anticipate a GX-45R with the scrander later in the year?

I may be wrong, but I believe that was some of the concept art for the Z-Mazinger Manga, and not really related to the Shin Mazinger figure or upcoming TV Series.

So, if Bandai is planning to reissue the Hover Pileder, is it safe to assume that we'll be getting a re-issued Maz head to go with it?
