Heres a preview of what I'm working on lately the sculpt is getting near to what i want, i plan to have him articulated, pilot in the cockpit, and might have some lights and sounds if my partner is able to fit that inside the head. its a big project and takes time but it is going very well. Comments appreciated! What we want to do here is get him to look like the old anime as much as possible and still have him functional, compromises have to be made design Wise to get him to move but i think i the end it should be a very nice piece. I'm using good old super sculpey, the way i work is that i sculpt the form i want make it as sharp as possible and then bake it. Once its hardened i use a x-acto knife to gently scrape the make the edges really straight and polish the surface then i use a 1200 grain sanding paper. It a long process but seems to give me the best results. here are some in progress work. you can see they have a long way to go until they become sharp. Here is an early shot of the grendizer head, as you can see the horns had already been molded and cast in resin so that they are identical and it saves time. ^^ By acturus, shot with X100,D540Z,C310Z at 2008-08-13 here are some in progress work. you can see they have a long way to go until they become sharp. By acturus at 2008-11-25 By acturus at 2009-01-27 and here is very early Mazinkaiser head from a special design by Luca papeo who did the King Grendizer trailer By acturus at 2009-01-27 this will be a 3 part 15 inch. statue action scene where we will see Mazinkaiser up versus king grendizer and we will have a battle damaged Great mazinger at Kaisers feet. This head is now near completed and much sharper then this picture. This is actually pretty awesome. Very clean and I know how time-consuming and tedious sculpting in Super-Sculpey can be. Good job.

Have you ever thought about large scale busts like Randy Bowen does for Marvel? It's been a dream of mine to create/see a line like that based on Super Robots for years.

Ya that could be an interesting project, maybe not for this year because of lack of time, but ya a bust line could be fun to do and much less complicated to do.
