Gaaah. I really have to stop looking at these/thinking about these. I saw that Amiami was sold out of Goshogun, which is starting to make me think I might miss an opportunity to get these (knowing Fewture's low production runs) and force me to take it up the exhaust if I want to get it in the future... it doesn't help that I just picked up the very cool SDX Command Gundam that now has me on a SD kick...
Argh... argh argh... do not need but ... kind ... of ... want...
Plus, I KNOW I'm going to have to get the Getter, Baikanfu, and Dancouga. The more the merrier...
... right?

I got my Goshogun today... still gathering first impressions, but overall a hearty two thumbs up.
Not all that much diecast when all is said and done (mostly the lower legs, that's about it), but it's fully painted and the finish is great. There's good rachet joints and the shoulders are surprisingly flexible. It's also got a ratcheting waist crunch joint, which was a nice surprise and gives the short little guy a boost in dynamics.
The Tiny added robot is a bit fragile, though. I half-broke/stressed one of his wings transforming him... I should probably reinforce it with a dab of superglue but for now I'm just being careful with it.
Oh, and the stand just ripped itself in half when I took it out of the box ... kind of surprising. The screw de-threaded the plastic and the spring in the ratchet joint on the support arm threw the arm across the room. It was a shock, but fortunately I'm not big on "aerial posing" for my SD figures, anyway.
Overall, for the same price as the Megahouse "Deformover" figures it's a MUCH better piece. I would even say the same about the SDX line, although he's much more scarce with accessories, he's probably about 2-3x as big (!) as any of the SDX Gundams. Seriously, he's HUGE for an SD figure.
HUGE.
Anyway. Pictures ... at some point. Comparison photos with CM's Goshogun guaranteed.

/can of worms I daresay it looks BETTER than the CM's Goshogun. Is it a better toy, though? Perhaps not - it's not got that diecast brickiness of the CM's gokin version, nor the same level of detail in the various opening portions on the body, but it's damn close, and has the whole "Super Robot Wars" SD proportions things going on. Looking at the ES Gokin Goshogun, I suddenly don't like the face of my CM's version . The color of the shoulderpads and the use of gold paint vs. the yellow plastic is also a big plus for the ES gokin version. They're both fantastic toys, I think, but they also have their own niche, so that's okay. I'm happy to own them both. SD SQUAD, ASSEMBLE! (Weissritter is absent because Excellen is feeling prissy today)

I regret nothing. P.S., it was pointed out to me that I had a glaring omission in my SD assembly photo, so I have retaken it. In the unlikely event that someone out there from Fewture/Artstorm is watching ... please... please... please make a Gunbuster ES gokin. I will buy ... like ... five.

Oh yeah, you'd better believe I squee'd when I saw that this morning on Ngee Khiong's blog. It's a model kit, but it's also cheap, so that's a bonus. This one'll be a buy-without-question.

Seeing as my interest in this line has truly blossomed, I thought it only appropriate to remind people of the glory that is still to come... If Goshogun is any indication, this toy is going to be absolutely phenomenal. Whoever is doing the sculpting and design for these ES gokin figures deserves a raise, because they're totally fantastic. The upcoming Dancouga, as well, looks simply fantastic.

It gives me warm fuzzies imagining an ES gokin Daimos or Daitarn 3. If I'm not careful, this could overtake SOC as my favored toyline...
