Hello, just want to share a mini-review of the latest GFF Next Generation #0041. Enjoy! Box Awesome artwork of Katoki in front of the box Flip the plastic piece in front of the box and you'll see the figure and contents. Contents Great packaging, easy to take out the figure and the parts, goodbye countless wires! ;D ZII Very SOLID!!! Heavy and durable ABS were used. Goodbye PVC. Weapons Same basic articulation w/ the GFF #0030 ZII. But some movable parts were changed. NO MORE FALLING PARTS!!! Goodbye floppiness. Awesome markings too. BTW, it also includes a dry transfer decal sheet for additional markings. W/ the first GFF ZII. Almost same height. Color scheme is different, the #0041 has the camouflage blue scheme or refined version, some white paint were omitted too. Fully loaded! I wished they also improved the articulation. But it's ok, as long as the joints are real tight. Now for the DIE-CAST parts. Crazy, lots of metal parts! All the gun-metal color you see are die-cast. From hips, to the internals of the thighs and legs are made of Die-cast metal. Knees are also made of diecast! Double jointed and very tight! This whole part of the feet is made of metal. The shoulder connector and the white part inside the shoulder armor are made of metal too. Wave rider Sturdy and no floppiness. Love it! Though its not a perfect transformation just like the first one, it also uses some parts swapping, just a few. I also noticed that the Mega launcher has a magnet underneath but I don't see any use of it since the launcher connects right on the chest and waist. Locking mechanism, still there. Verdict: Buy it! Very durable, lots of diecast parts, ABS is better than PVC, strong joints and very tight, and what more I can say. If you do not have the 1st release ZII, get this, if you have the 1st version, keep it, you can display it on its wave rider form and the GFFN ZII on its MS glory! Lots of improvement for the GFF line, Hopefully, they will continue this and this will be High Quality Gundam figures of all time. Can't wait for the Aile Strike Gundam and the coming soon GFFN Gundams! vic01

lol well your review is much better then mine but how much did they get you for this one? I paid $100. For that price I dont think it was a worthy purchase despite the improvements.

Oh, yeah, that's one draw back, expensive figure. I got mine from HLJ for $104 shipped. I would say it should be $65-$70 will be ok for me since the GFF #0030 costs like $45-$50.
Metal contents are surprisingly a lot and paint job is better but $80, too expensive, I was just curious about this next gen GFF and after I got it, they look promising now.
GFFMC Z Plus Blue Limited is on its way, will post some pics too when it arrives. I saw from the net a lot of complaints about it, well, I'll see if it's true.

Yeah I agree on the price. This is how the GFF line should of been from the begining for the price. I think all the improvements they made for GFFN make them worth the high price GFFs are going for. I just wish there was more diecast and better articualtion. Honestly, after getting my Banpresto SCM RX-78 and GM for only $15 each. I dont know how bandai gets away with it because those figures out due just about any gundam figure bandai has to offer.
I have Zeta on the way as well, I just heard of the complaints myself but its my first Metal composite so I am still excited.

Yeah, i agree with you about better articulation and more die-cast. If they can make the internal of the (RX-78s) #0036-#0039 diecast and under GFFN line, that will be awesome! Let's just see what will happen w/ the up coming GFFNs. I just received the tracking from HLJ for the Z Plus Blue yesterday. Hopefully this weekend, it'll be here. BTW, why don't you get a RX-78-2 GFFMC, I think they are cool, the Z Plus will be my 3rd GFFMC. I have the 1/100 RX-78-2 and 1/144 Psycho Gundam. The plastic used from GFFMC are the same as the GFFN. Metals are mostly in the internals. I'm excited too w/ the Z Plus, Hummingbird mode is just so sick for display, and in 1/100 scale! I'm just hoping metal content justifies the price too. vic01

Great review, vic01!
Has all the PVC been completely replaced with ABS and diecast-metal?
I'd also love to know if the GFFN toy feels like a smaller-scale version of the GFFMC in terms of fit, finish and overall quality.
Thanks!

No PVC to be found here (except the hands). Quality is really top notch here in both paint and overall solidness. I did have trouble keeping the front skirt on when in aircraft mode, but still way sturdier then the regular GFF

Yes emerson. PVC was replaced completely w/ ABS, POM and Die-cast metal. Screws were used too. The ABS used are not just like from the HG or MG kits, they are thick and strong. But the hands/manipulators still has the feel of PVC, but just that. You'll never worry about drooping/bending of parts, weapons, etc. The feel and sturdiness are the same as the GFFMC. I think GFFN are for smaller scaled Gundams while the GFFMC are for the bigger scaled Gundams.
I don't have any Robot Damashiis right now but probably made the same way too, but PVCs are gone. Quality is very impressive, you'll wish that the previous GFFs should be made like this from the start.

Finally, no crappy bendable plastic. Good QC on the paint job? Thats the only turn off for me in the GFF line. Now, if they release the RX-121-1 Hazel Custom, I'll be all over it.

I wonder why Bandai chose the Zeta II as the first GFFN? It's not like we haven't seen it in toy form, since there was a fairly recent GFF version. At least the upcoming Aile Strike Gundam hasn't been seen in this scale since the AMSIA and we also haven't seen it in a from designed by Katoki.

I know why bandai did it, because they love milking the hell out of thier designs. Its far easier to modify an exsisting model and cheaper for them as well. So now they can maximize profits because they tacked on like 30 more to the price and they didnt have to do as much in desinging the toy as they would of had to do if it was a totally new design. Sucks for us but good for bandai. You can tell who is number one in thier eyes......still they got my money and thousands of others.

yeah I hated all those damn twist ties you spent more time cutting those (youd be a fool to try and un tie each one) then you did messing with the figure.
Vic- I will as soon as i get a chance (though your pictures are sure to blow mine away), but I am very pleased with this, but it essentially has as much diecast as Zeta II but damn are there a crapload of parts I havent gotten to assemble him yet though. He is pretty awesome but the legs have barely any movement when you try to move them sideways (which I thought you could but it feels like you will break it if you try too hard) Now i really want the other two composites lol!!
BTW where can i see pics of your completed models?

As you can see by the pics, lots of parts! It really is a nice solid figure, great paint job and awesome decals. However, diecast, is almost nill. You can see in the pics of the leg section that there is diecast in only the hips, and the ball joints that conect them, also there is dicast in the ankle joints...........AND THATS IT!!! It has less diecast then zeta II. So I would say that this figure is 99% ABS plastic!! Hmmmmm for $230 I was expecting a lot diecast. The arms and legs have rachet type joints so they hold all postions very well while moving freely at the same time and can easily support the weight of all weapons and shield.. Dobule joints on the knees but not on the elbows for some reason. Also, I am having one hell of a time transforming to wave rider mode (good news is no part swaping) there are two tabs above the legs that are suppose to fit in these wholes on the main body. no amount of force will get them in place, since the legs are heavy they flop around so you cant get them to stay in place, not to mention that (as you can see in the pics) the legs are removeable from the waist, only the front and rear pelvic armor hold it in place, however you need to unlatch the front armor to put the legs in position for tranformation and the rear armor is not strong enough to hold the legs in place so they constanly fall out while you attempt to secure the legs into the whole the tabs wont fit in. After about an hour I gave up! On the plus side, I didnt break it, but i fear multiple transformations will really loosen the joints! Vic, hopefully you can figure out how to succesfully transform this thing....

That's very disappointing. I ordered the blue one and it should be arriving any day now.
What's your opinion on the toy (despite the lack of diecast)?

read above i just modified my post!
Its a great toy, again, not worth the enormous price for lack of diecast, and the transformaion thing I am having problems with is realllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyy ticking me off! The frustration is making me dislike the toy very much. Though i know i will keep him in mecha form, I have to at least transform him once (however, since it is really two mechas in one I would have to transform again once all armor pieces have been put on, oh and deep striker mode as well)
Its a shame because it is one cool looking toy that rivals even the MG Kit (and its the same size as well) but I just dont know what to do with the wave rider side.

And how's the pose-ability of the thing overall?
