@garu, I agree, anyone REALLY looking for Jumbos or a Voltes in particular has already seen it/is bidding on it. I just worry about the casual collector or guy who is going on vacation and happens to see your post/link and decide he's going to throw his bid in where otherwise he would not have - it can increase interest and prices. Nyonk, I just wanted to call attention to everyone for linking live auctions, and not pointing to you or anyone specifically. I have done it in the past when I first joined this board, and even had some posts deleted due to it, so its not like I'm innocent of it. I just wanted to say it's not something that I think should be done regularly (or at all). If links are asked for, they should be done in a Private Message IMO, as I know I would hate to see an item I am interested in get linked. Bill

Yes, as bt1 mentioned, we prefer not to have live auctions posted. Once the auction is completed, post away! Completed auctions are a great reference. Thanks for your understanding.

So how much is that worth? Or do we have any price guides? Like Beckett for vintage robots?

i know a guy who found a complete boxed popy voltes v jumbo machinder in a thrift shop in compton ca for $5.00. he turned around and sold it for $1000 to a dealer i know. i have been going to thrift shops for over 25 years and have yet to find a single jumbo in any conditiion, that even goes for the mattel ones. great finds actually do happen. just not to me.

No frickin way! That was awesome find. But a thrift shop owner knows a value of a toy, if it's loose I can understand but with a boxed toy and the markings say 1977 Japan? Specially lately that most thrift shop I know base their prices on common prices found on the internet. I'm a thrift store hunter myself and found some rare figures such as pillsbury vinyl figures and coca-cola, and some transformers. Maybe if it's garage sale, because I bought a Grimlock G1 for $1.00 and sold it for $90 at ebay, but that's because the parent that sold it doesn't know that value of the toy. But if you're business is thrift store, they research first before selling them. No offense but I doubt the accurateness of that story.

unfortunately it is true. and this was 5-6 years ago. the dealer is a filipino guy who has a booth over at Frank & Sons collictible show. he would always tell me about his voltes which at the time i had no real clue as to who voltes was. i also know the guy who found the item and sold it to the dealer. the dealer and i have been doing business for 15+ years and have no reason to doubt his claim. you forget that the box is entirely in japanese and to people outside of our hobby might just think nothing of it.

If that's the case, that's amazing. Very lucky.
In my opinion, since my goal is to collect ALL Voltes V figures. I woudn't pay $1000 yet for a "shampoo bottle" quality Jumbo Machine robot, unless that's the last piece missing in my collection. Money is not the issue since I have four sets of Popy/Godaikin Voltes V, but those are worth the price because those are good quality, fully engineered die-cast metal.
I might be hunting for the Jumbo machine next year since we're going to Tokyo anyway.

I might be hunting for the Jumbo machine next year since we're going to Tokyo anyway. Shampoo bottle.... That's a good one.. It's all about the aesthetics to me and obviously we disagree here. If money is not an issue than you have a problem paying the $3-4K for one MIB, because that's most likely what you are looking at unfortunately. Unfortunate for me as well as I'm also looking for one. Also, I would not encourage you to hold out any glimpse of hope finding a Voltes Jumbo for sale in any of the Japanese shops. I was just there last month and talked to many shop owners about the lack of Jumbo Machinders for sale in Tokyo and Osaka and they simply said everything goes to YJP these days. The only cool piece I saw for sale was a Sun Vulcan Jumbo at Nakano Mandarake for $1000. I passed when I was there and ended up getting one in better condition a week ago for $600.. So, not only is there no stock over there, the prices are totally inflated for the limited amount they have. I've decided after this last trip that I won't be going back to Japan again exclusively for toy shopping. The next time I go back I will fit some toy shopping in for sure, but I won't be taking any more week long + trips to hunt for toys. Not only are the stores closing at a rapid rate but most of the stock was EXACTLY the same as last year.. Prices are so high the sh*t doesn't move. Sorry about the tangent there. You and your wife will find so many awesome things to do in Tokyo alone. Have a good trip! Side note: I noticed that your collection list on your website has the pla Voltes on your page with pictures from an active auction on YJP as well as the Voltes Jumbo that's still active. Did you just post the pictures as a reference only? I'm confused.

Did you just post the pictures as a reference only? I'm confused. Read the comment's my wife left me, that we'll get that PLA next paycheck. I was about to bid on it but I overspent already since I bough 95% of my collection LAST MONTH only. It's not something that can be confused about. Most of my pictures are still on "just ended" on YJA because I just bought most of them To avoid your another confusion, the jumbo machinder on my collection is not yet bought, cause I almost bid on that . But I promise you if a cheaper Jumbo shows up at YJA, it will be mine. Read the comments and side-context my friend to avoid confusion.

Lately I've been re-casting fist and head for the ST version. But the jumbos are of different quality.

Yeah, I read the comments earlier before you changed them today... That pretty much translates to bullsh*t. SO..... Basically YOU DON'T have them and they ARE NOT parts of your collection. They are on your page for reference only. I guess my confusion was justified afterall.

Get in line. I'll see you on the auction block my friend. toyboxdx.com/brog/?p=675This Mandarake hand out I was given in Japan states that they are willing to pay $4K, so we have them to compete against as well..

I am also in that line for Voltes as well. There are alot of us here at the forum that are willing to stretch the limits of limits of our budgets to get that mythical jumbo. The sad truth of the matter is there are more collectors out there than there are Voltes V Jumbos. Most of will never get the chance own one regardless of what we are willing to pay.

I don't want to start a fight or whatever but please read the whole page, especially the "what I have so far" section. And look the gallery section of this forum and I never posted pictures of figures I haven't bought yet. It was a budget issue like I said that started last month that I bought every Voltes V figure I saw on YJA (even the keychains), ebay and from my cousin at Kobe and local stores here at LA. I almost bought the PLA and I was talking to a moderator about it, there is also a loose jumbo that went on YJA last month that was sold for I think $900 and I lose that auction because I didn't know that it was that worth (that's why I started this thread anyway). My wife stopped me for now and keep it slow, and made me realize collecting can't be done overnight. So we decided to get it later. About the auction thingy good thing I just don't depend most of the time on them. And for what I've told by my cousin, Mandarake are known for pricey figures, although I haven't been in Tokyo for almost 12 years. He got me the Popy yellow elbow MIB for less than $700 at a local store in Kobe. The collection that I have on this forum is the accurate and what's really bought so far. I hope that clears things up.
